Why Do I Weigh A Lot More Than I Look

Why do I weigh more than I look?

A lot of people mistake that weight has anything to do with looking fat or skinny.

more weight = fat
less weight = skinny

What determines your shape (fat, skinny) is how much fat you have in your body (your body fat percentage). Fat isn't the only thing you are weighing. You also have muscles, bones, organs, etc...

So when you gain muscle weight (not size), which is the most possible answer due to you being active and exercising, your weight will go up but your 'shape' doesn't change because you fat% hasn't change.

If you have difficulty visualizing this, think of bodybuilders :P They weigh more than you and me put together but don't have an inch of fat on them (fat% so low you can see their muscles). You have to be crazy to call them fat :P

This is normal. It happens to everyone who start working out. And pretty much the number one reason why most give up (I'm working out but gaining weight?) :P

Hope this helps :)

Why do I weigh way more than I look?

In this particular case, I'd actually take that as a great compliment. You probably have decent musculature even if you're thin. Take a look at some of the women in the ufc strawweight division. They walk around at about 125lbs yet look super thin. Id actually say this is a muscle weighs more than fat case. If you're happy with how you look, there's no need to care about what the scale says.

Why do I weigh so much more than I look?

muscle weighs more then fat

Why do I look skinny but weigh a lot?

So I work out a lot and Im 5’8.5 tall. I weigh 145 pounds but most people think I weigh 20 pounds less than that. I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but by 20 pounds to someone who is not a body builder seems kind of rediculous and my mother only weighs a couple pounds more than me yet is around the same height, has some muscle but also some fat, and looks way bigger than me. Why is this? Are my bones really that much heavier orrr?

Weigh more than I look?

Hey most people think i weigh around 155-165, when i actually weigh 182 at 6'2. What does that mean, do i have more muscle than it appears or more fat, i'm not sure? and do i really look as skinny as people think?

Why do I weigh so much but not look fat?

Rowan is right, weighing a lot is not necessarily a bad thing. Particularly if you are a guy lifting super heavy weights and using performance enhancing drugs (PEDs). Take Dywan Johnson, for example, he has been lifting heavy almost daily for about 20 years now, along with PEDs and you get a super heavy 6′5″, middle-aged man.Of course, you are almost a foot shorter, female, and “try” to work out 3–4 days a week, so I'm thinking not so much on the muscles thing. Even so, we are living in an age of alternative facts. You can believe whatever is most appealing to you. Thus, let's go with you being some kind of muscular mutation. Then, when seeing your bmi in the overweight range just think of super fit and “healthy” athletes using PEDs that have bmi’s in the obese range. Not sure you will find any in the morbidly obese range, but like I say, you have your choice of facts you want to believe. For serious athletes a body fat measurement is a better indication of fitness then BMI. However, I have seen several women get worse results (higher body fat estimates) from body analysis than from BMI. In fact, for 98% of women the BMI is an incredibly accurate estimation of body fat. So be prepared for similar, or possibly worse news after having your body fat tested. For that reason, few people with a high BMI have a body fat test done.Anyway, if you are happy with how you look, though it sounds like you might not be, then there is not much to worry about. I mean, for now you will probably feel healthy, until you don't. Strange how sudden disease, heart attack and the like can come on without warning. You might be running late on your way to work, then it happens. They never seem to come when we are just hanging out at the hospital.

I Look Skinny But Weigh A Lot More.. Why ?

I am 21 and weigh 150lbs, and I look generally pretty skinny. As a matter of fact, often times people tell me that I am too skinny for my age and sometimes they ask me if I weigh 120lbs. I know guys my age who look much bigger than me in size, but in fact way even less than me. How is all that possible?
A med. student told me that if your a skinny guy, you can weigh a lot if you have very strong bone structure. Is that true?

Why do I look fatter than I weigh?

I'm 5'1 and I am 105lbs. However, my thighs almost touch, my arms are flabby, my stomach is wide and I almost have a double chin. Basically, I look really chunky.

My friend on the other hand is 5'2 and is 120lbs. She is STICK thin. Her thighs have a huge gap and everything about her is THIN.

She's only an inch taller than me, weighs 15lbs more than me and manages to look 99lbs.
She's not muscular, either..really, she's just skinny.

I'm not comparing myself with her. But I find it so odd that I look so fat compared to my actual weight. When I told her I was 105lbs, she called me a liar...so....that really shows that I do not look 105.
