Why Do My Legs Feel Tired From Walking Up Stairs

My legs burn when walking up stairs?

My quads feel like they are getting tired too easily. Walking up stairs or doing a few minutes on a stationary bike gets my quads burning like i've been working out for a long time. I use the stationary bike and leg machines a few times each week but they still get tired very easily. I stretch but only for 10 seconds so could it be that I'm not stretching long enough? No one else that I've asked have had this problem.

Why do I get tired from walking up stairs?

Im in college and when the elevators are going slow I have to take the stairs (which is every day) and I get so tired. When I finally sit down Im so out of breath and start breathing hard. My classmates always ask am I okay or is something wrong with me.
Today i walked up only 5 stairs and i was tired!!
I usually walk up more than that but I had a different class today.
I don't work out because I dont want to.
But I do have another question. If I workout then eat McDonalds or Wendy's will I still lose calories since my body is in "workout mode"?
What can I do to not feel so tired? Will drinking water before going up the stairs work?

Why do I get tired from walking up the stairs?

When I go to school, I have to go up 3 flights of stairs. Sometimes I feel really tired and my heart beats faster. I'm not eve running when I do that. I breathe harder. I'm not fat I'm actually skinny.I'm 105 pounds and 13 years old. I don't always get tired by walking. But if I just run up. the stairs for about 3 seconds, I breathe even harder! Help! Maybe because I'm dehydrated but please help!

Why do you get tired and out of breath while going up the stairs but not going down?

Gravity. When you climb up the stairs, your muscles have to lift your body weight against gravity. With each step, the muscles on the front of your thighs, namely Quadriceps, contract to extend the knee so that your weight is transferred from the hind leg (which is on the lower step) to the front leg (which is pulling you up).Considering an average adult weight of about 70–80 kgs, the muscle contraction is quite powerful. And repetitive. This requires continuous supply of blood and oxygen.Your lungs and heart have to work extra hard to meet the body's increased requirements. That's why your heart rate shoots and you feel out of breath.Going down the stairs isn't that hard because instead of working against gravity, you are using gravity to pull you from the step above to the step below.Muscles are working here as well but their main job is to provide you with controlled movement (you know, so that you don't free fall). Comparatively, this is far simpler.

Are you tired after walking up 6 flights of stairs?

No matter how fit someone is, walking up seven flight of stairs will tire anyone. So you're fine. You should be breathing heavily and your legs should be a tired by the time you get all the way up there. I do admire you for walking more and keeping in shape. This whole thing is normal and I think you're in plenty good shape.

Why am I so out of breath when I walk up stairs?

It has nothing to do with your weight. Sure, your weight might contribute to the problem, but it's definitely not the root of the problem.

Are you used to walking up the stairs? Do you do it regularly? Some people find it harder to walk up the stairs because they use leg muscles that are not used on a regular basis.

Keep up the work on the eliptical!
