Why Do People Hate The Hetalia Fandom So Much

Why do people hate the Undertale fandom so much?

First off, I would just like to say that I am aware that the Undertale fandom is FAR from perfect. In fact, every fandom has their good side and bad side. I would also like to say that I love Undertale for it's soundtrack, story, characters, dialogue, etc., but I can also acknowledge that it s not the best game ever cause really, there is no such thing as a perfect game. Undertale is one out of MANY video games out there, and we all have our opinions. I can accept the fact that not everyone will like the same thing.

Secondly, I am aware of the things some people have done in the fandom. Backseat gaming, overhype, not accepting criticism, a few death threats to certain Let's Players for not "playing the game right." Do I condone these actions? Absolutely not, so I can see why some people don't like the fandom. I've even gone so far to say to them, "Hey! That's not cool. You shouldn't give Undertale a bad name like that, it's very unnecessary."

The real question is, why are people extremely critical about the entire fandom, when they should be criticizing the ones who give the fandom a horrible reputation? I find it kind of sad to see people solely focusing on the bad side and ignore how talented and passionate the fandom can be. I think "cringe" art and porn can easily be ignored. Personally, I can't stand when people call the fandom "cancer" when it's no different than any other fandom. Undertale is a game that should be judged for it's content, not for it's fandom.

Is Hetalia as bad as people say?

Thanks for the A2A, Maya!Hetalia was my favorite show on earth (no pun intended) for some of the worst months of my life. During my parents' incredibly turbulent divorce and some of the worst grades I ever got in school, my safe haven was a fun silly show about world peace. It makes me a little nostalgic, honestly. But when I take off the rose-tinted glasses, I see why I left the Hetalia fandom. For one, the show's two main characters- and the fan-preferred couple- are literally fascist Italy and nazi Germany. And the show is aware of this, it sometimes makes jokes about nazism. (I recall one episode in which Italy kept bugging Germany to the point of pushing him to snap "are you wanting me to gas you?" That's in pretty poor taste.)Practically all of the characters are skinny white men. I could probably count all the female characters with my fingers, and all the dark-skinned characters on one hand. And this is a series with loads upon loads of characters. And don't get me started on the fandom. Of course a show's quality isn't determined by the actions of its fans, but due to Hetalia's nature you will get involved in the fandom if you like the show. Pedophilia, incest, and fetishization of anything you can name are ridiculously commonplace. A lot of fans seem to be ignorant of how countries actually are, and think Hetalia is the only history class they'll ever need.Hetalia has pros- the music is fantastic, the characters are admittedly attractive, and it can teach you a few tidbits of history trivia- but it takes a lot of sifting through disgusting content to get to the good stuff. Whether or not that's worth it is up to you, I guess.

Why is it that in the Hetalia fandom, people portray England as really emotional when it’s a stereotype that the British have a “stiff upper lip”?

In fact, being stiff upper lip doesn't have any connection that means that you can't be really emotional at the same time. I try my best to put this answer as light as possible because this is just fiction, but welp, this is Hetalia. In my perspective, England is always being a British person (not unexpected, duh, he's England) that always doing stiff upper lip as many as he could. He always make many nonsense rants about how he hates the rain, how he hates coffee, how he hates people with no etiquette, but he always doing that with a great humour so magical that it looks like in the end every problems seemed to be solved. He always doing stiff upper lip in every topic he could. But England is also England. And that makes him different with other British person, because he's the personification of England that already passes so many historic events, he knows so well that it's actually hard to live and let live, and yet he already feel sorry for the countless losses he'll still have to face.He knows the darkest side of England (or to be fair, of the United Kingdom). He knows the darkest side of being the personification of it. Due to the hatred of that fact, he can't being stiff upper lip about that. He can't do stiff upper lip if the topic is about politic, about monarch, or anything that have a connection about his bled and sacrified.

Why do the Hetalia fans hate Homestuck fans?

Yeah, not all of them hate each other, it's mostly just because there are stupid people on each side who think they have a right to shove opinions into someones face by ruining their costume or ridiculing them. It's really ridiculous. Some people just take their obsession WAY to far. Like that person who got grey paint thrown over them at a convention just because they didn't really like Homestuck. UGH.

But there is hate probably because:
1. They are both extremely popular.
2. They both started out as webcomics.
3. They are popular to cosplay and draw fan art for.
4. There are generalizations associated with each group. For instance, a lot of Homestuck people are seen to be obsessed with shipping and pairings. A lot of them are also either seen to be elitist for reading the whole comic or weeaboo for just joining on the 'troll' bandwagon and not actually reading anything. And seen to relate EVERYTHING to Homestuck.
And with Hetalia, a lot of people see Hetalia as a starter fandom like Naruto. As in, you like it a lot when you're younger, but you gradually move on from it to something else, probably due to the nature of the anime/comics. And because it is starting to attract a lot of younger audiences, and usually when one is 12-14 they are going through that awful weeb phase. D:
5. There are stupid stupid people in the world who think that if they do certain things they bring justice to that fandom or something.

So there are issues with one group saying 'Nobody likes nor can understand your boring 6,000 page webomic or your stupid references!' while the HS are saying 'Nobody wants to be in a fandom full of 13 year old weeaboos!'

It's really ridiculous. I like Homestuck and dislike Hetalia, but I'm not going to be angry at someone who legitimately likes it. Other people have a right to opinions, and so what if they thought my comic was boring? I thought Hetalia was boring. So it doesn't matter. :/

Why do you hate Hetalia so much?? What did it ever do to you, eh!?

When i first heard about hetalia, my friend told me that it's all about war and personified countries. They never told me it's only 5 minutes long and it's a comedy anime. I thought it was all serious with WW1 and the Axis fighting the Allies and so forth.

I find it hillarious, at least. I love the dub, the comics and the events. The fandom is pretty crazy, There are some batshit insane fans that still exists, but there are also decent fans as well.

In my opinion, Hetalia's one of the animes that is slowly turning into like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece etc etc that it's getting mildly popular all around the world. Though I wouldn't say it's a bad thing, the fanbase is getting bigger and bigger every minute.

People hate on the show because they get offended by the jokes easily. Some fans think that the show disrespects history, and thinks that wars are just for laughs. I don't think so. I'm a hetalia fan and i respect history. I love it, even.

They also got irritated by the rabid yaoi fans that takes their shipping too far. I've seen some of them, but i always ignore them. I can't help it, all fandoms has it flaws.

What's up with fan girls hating hetalia girls?

For some strange reason the female hetalia characters are getting too much hate in the fandom. I really don't see why. None of them are unlikeable and if anything, they make good characters if they appeared more in the series.

Belgium, Seychelles, and Taiwan are always portrayed as stuck up sluts, when their character are far from it. Why? Because they interact with the other male characters? Not all Hetalia male characters are gay. Only Sweden was a confirmed homosexual and France is most likely Pansexual. Italy always flirt with women.

Belarus is always portrayed as the crazy psychotic nut who would go to extreme lengths to get to Russia (I really don't think she's THAT crazy and would go that far). That's just sad.

Hungary's probably the least hated because she's a yaoi fangirl. But even she has been badly portrayed and hated.

I'm going to be honest here. As a girl, I do have a few yaoi pairings I like, but that's because it's either semi-canon like Gerita or one-sided like Sufin. I don't do crack or hopeless pairings like others. And I don't go overboard with it. I also have hetero pairings like EstoniaXUkraine and HungaryXAustria to name a few. So I go for any gender pairing.

So why is a lot of the immature fan girls hating these characters?

Why do Homestuck fans and Hetalia: Axis Powers fans hate each other?

the cause of the feud between them is unknown. Its probably because they're both webcomics, and fans in both fandoms seems to dislike each other.

Its started in Facebook i think, Where a Hetalia fan made a page saying, "Homestuck fans should shut up." and after that, it caused an uproar in the homestuck fandom. As a result, a homestuck fan made a page saying, "We'll shut up if the Hetalia fandom shuts up." or something like that. Im not completey sure how the whole Hetalia vs Homestuck war sparked, since I did not know homestuck after i got into Hetalia.

Personally, i think the whole war is dumb. I think they're going on and on on whose a better fanbase? I think that Homestuck is rather large in the western side, and im sure that the Japanese fans or Himaruya is not aware of this doltish nonesense.

I am a fan of both webcomics and I love them! Im a pround hetastuck and im not afraid to show it :)

But i guess we can't avoid stupid fans in a fandom. All fandoms has it flaws. Both fandoms are amazing and filled with talented artists/cosplayers/writers/voice actors/fans etc etc. And I quote Hetalia, "Make pasta, not war."

Why are there so many hetalia hate groups on deviantart?

Ok so first every fandom has stupid fans, lets all admit that. NOTHING IS SAFE! So of course there are always going to be people who hate on fandoms. I hate it when people do that, to like annything, even though I may not like the fandom myself. Like say Justin Beiber or One direction, personally I dislike their music but I'm not gonna waste my time hating on something I'm not being forced tto listen to. Unfortunately not everyone thinks like this and thinks their fandom is the best and other ones are stupid or whatever. Sorry to say it but everyone is still allowed to voice their opinion (no matter how stupid it may be)

What are some things you hate about Hetalia?

I used to love Hetalia. It was my favorite thing in the world, I wouldn't shut up about it. Every day, the people around me had to put up with draw a circle that's the earth kolkolkolkol tomato box fairy magic metal pipe of pain pastaaa flying mint bunny five meters kesesesese. Special shoutout goes to my 8th grade history teacher, who probably had to endure the worst of it.In retrospect, I can see a lot of things wrong with Hetalia. It supposedly represents the world- a diverse place with people of every possible shape, color, size and gender- and yet 90% of the characters are skinny white men. Most of them are blond, too. You have to consciously look for minor features to tell the characters apart, such as a cowlick shaped a certain way or the way the eyes are detailed. This is both poor representation and character design. The series mainly focuses on cute sweet Italy and his BFFs Germany and Japan! How adorable! But it’s set during World War II, of all time periods. The series becomes much less fun when you remember what Italy is fighting for.Portraying the entire county of Germany as a blond man with blue eyes is in poor taste. It’s an incorrect stereotype too- while blond people may have been Hitler’s favorite, a large amount of the German population has dark hair and eyes.America being blond and blue-eyed isn’t very good either. Sure, racism is present in our country, but there’s also so much diversity. We’re not called the melting pot for nothing. Realistically, a personifcation of America should be of mixed race. This applies to many other countries too, I just used my own as an example. You might argue the show isn't bigoted because it has LGBT+ representation. What you mean by that is it shows hot white guys that may or may not be gay. You know why they do that? It’s to please the yaoi fangirls. Fetishization of gay relationships is something the Hetalia fandom is horribly guilty of.The normalization of incest is really unsettling. Among the teased ships is America/Britain (not blood-related, but they're adopted brothers and Britain raised America like a son). Not to mention Belarus, who is madly in love with her brother Russia and is constantly pounding at his door demanding to be married. (This is essentially Belarus’ entire character.)Rape is taken very lightly and is played for comedy.
