Why Do Small Amounts Of Alcohol Make Me Sick

Why does a small amount of alcohol suddenly make me sick?

This has been going on since June of this year I guess. Anyway, I used to be able to hold my own on a night out, but now I cannot make my way through one mixed drink without experiencing excruciating acid reflux and nausea. If I continue to drink, I am running to the bathroom to vomit by the last sip of my second drink. I've never been one to frequently consume alcohol, and now I suppose I drink maybe two times a week, sometimes a little more or a little less. It's becoming a problem, as I am a bit of a wallflower and alcohol is my main social tool (haha). I'd like to at least be able to obtain a buzz before I go running to the bathroom. What could be the cause of this?

Why does drinking alcohol make me sick?

I feel for you. I used to have the same problem. At first I was able to drink right along with my buddies and have a good time and not get sick before during or after. Then all of a sudden it seemed like I didn't even want to drink because I knew I would end up throwing up. All my friends would be like just take another shot have some more you will feel better....I didn't want to because I felt in my gut that it was ready to come back up. So I just took it easy and didn't try to get drunk but drank as much as I could handle until I felt like throwing up. Now I can drink and drink but usually do end up throwing up before I go to bed, along with drinking alot of water, and that saves me from being hung over the next day. A bit of advice, THROW UP when you need to. People say it's not good for you but trust me you feel better and even like you can drink more. Im the puke master as nasty as that may be! But hang in there, and do what your stomach tells you.

A Sip of Alcohol makes Me feel sick!!!!!?

So I know your all thinking it "lightweight" but thats not it. I am perfectly capable of drinking several drinks and not getting drunk. I used to be like that. Until last week at a friends house. We were having a couple beers when I accidentally took a gulp of a skunked one. I immedietly threw it out. Every beer after that tasted skunked and I couldnt drink anymore. I had one full beer the whole night. That night I got vioently sick. I threw up 6 times, it was awful. Ever since then every sip of beer I have tastes skunked and it literally makes me sick to my stomach. Just tonight I tried again and every beer I treid made me feel sick and tasted skunked. Can anyone help me with this? Its very frusteraring to go to parties and feel sick every time someone offers you a beer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm sick of vodka, any other alcoholic drinks out there that will get me drunk quick (:?

It really isn't the alcohol itself that will get you drunk quick. At 40% alcohol by volume, a standard drink of 1.5 oz of vodka will put just as much alcohol into your blood as tequila, gin, or rum. If you have less than 40% you obviously put less alcohol in your blood, and the reverse is true for more than 40%.

The suggestion to try absinthe is definitely a valid one since it is often around 45-70% alcohol by volume (but I've seen it higher than that).

For wines and beer, you must drink more than 1.5 oz to be considered a standard drink, it all depends on the percentage. (about 5oz for a table wine and 12oz for a beer)
If you mix your alcohol with a carbonated beverage the carbonation helps the alcohol to absorb into your bloodstream quicker, or so they say. So things like whiskey and coke, or rum and coke are good choices. Try Spiced Rum and Ginger ale.

If you like vodka, you can try any number of flavoured vodkas to give you a different drink.

Why not mix vodka with more alcohol? Make a vodka martini, or try the vesper (gin and vodka).

The best thing to do is go out there and try different drinks on your own. Go to a bar and ask the bartender for something different, or ask your friends to try one of their drinks if they're having something different. Your taste palette is slightly different from everyone else's.

Grab a bottle of liquor, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey, etc and find a list of drinks online, there are many good websites to find drinks. Try http://www.drinksmixer.com/ Change the search method to "recipes containing an ingredient like" and then enter in your liquor. They'll give you tons of recipes, including many new recipes for vodka that you probably haven't tried? A greyhound? A cape cod? A screwdriver? A harvey wall-banger? Give them a shot. Make a drink out of the bottle and try it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Vodka is a brilliant tool for making an wide variety of drinks, you don't have to jump off the bandwagon just yet.

Hope this helps, and happy drinking
Cheers

Why do people continue to drink alcohol when it makes them so sick?

addictions are very very powerful...

Every time I get drunk I end up in the ER... my body can not handle any amount of alcohol... at all... it sucks... major...I love going out with my friends and becoming "the best dancer" in the joint (with the help of Jimmy Bean), but it the price you pay... as you said...

A hangover is Gods way of telling us we went to far...
