Why Does My Collar Bone Hurt During Push-ups

Why does the right side of my collar bone click when I do push ups?

I am not a doctor but speaking from experience there could be a few reasons. Anatomically speaking the shoulder joint is extremely complex and there are lots of tendons, ligaments and a few bones and joints that could be involved. It would take up far too much space to go over every possibility but I'll give you a few things to further explain thru Google. First, your collar bones meet at the shoulder at a point called the AC joint. It is a point at which your clavicle (collar bone) attaches to the upper front part of the scapula (acromion) called the acromion process. There is a cartilage buffer there which is articulated each time a push-up or flat bench press rep is completed. That cartilage can wear out over time and the collar bone can then slide by that acromion and cause a slight “clicking” sound and a feeling of that happening in the joint. “Clicking” can also be the result of the upper arm bone “ball” rotating in the shallow shoulder joint if the cushioning agents (labrum and bursa) have thinned out or been damaged slightly by a combination of repetitive shoulder and chest exercises. I'll end here by telling you that as long as there is no pain when the clicking occurs, I wouldn't worry too much about it. But sooner or later you WILL start to feel some pain as those of us who have been lifting for years (in my case, decades) can attest…having had 3 major shoulder surgeries: 2 A/C resections and a major Subscapularis rotator cuff tear.

Why does the space above my collar bone hurt when doing push ups?

I have been training for the Army PT Test for awhile now and I can do the push ups without a problem. One problem I have noticed now is on my left side, the space right above the collar bone I feel a sharp pain there. It happens when I am coming up to complete the rep, it doesn't hurt much going down or holding the front leaning rest position.

Why does my right collar bone start to hurt when i do pushups?

Because it isn't the bone that is hurting you, they have no pain receptors and can't feel pain, it is the muscle around the bone that is giving you the pain. You have to release the muscle to get rid of the pain and here is how to do that:
While sitting up take your left hand and put it up on your right shoulder about midway between your neck and end of your shoulder. pull down and kind of forward with pressure and hold it there. Now relax the rest of your body. After about 30 seconds you should notice the muscle releasing and your hand getting closer to the bone. Keep holding for at least a minute or however long that you feel it still releasing and if you are still noticing any pain. When you have held it until the pain is gone just release and you should be good to go.

Collar bone pain while doing push ups.?

Sounds like strain. Do less push-ups. Start at 5 or 10 per rep. After a week 10 or 15 and so on. You have to build the muscle surrounding the nerves that are strained before you can take on bigger challenges. After you have that comfortable, move up to 15 or 20. But never try to push through "strain pain" as perminant injury could occur

Why does my chest hurt when I do pushups?

You will learn over time that there are different types of pain. On a high level, there are good types of pain and bad types of pain.Good painA pump. Occasionally I will joke with my wife about how it hurts so good. You should expect pain in your muscle if you are pushing yourself in a workout. A burn is another example of a good pain. This just means that you are doing things right.Bad painTendon and bone pain. These are both really bad. If you think it is either of these stop what you are doing immediately. Trust me I know from experience. You will have to invest some time learning about the anatomy to understand the difference. If it hurts in this area, that is good.If it hurts in this area, it is bad.

Why do my bones hurt so bad when i'm doing pushups?

hahaha...your bones have nerves that connects to everything else in your body. It's not your bones...it's you. You're not used to doing push ups. Don't worry just keep working out and you won't feel it anymore. what i mean by that is...in time your arms will get used to lifting have objects (you). This is normal.

My collar bone cracks when I do push-ups, whats up with that?

Collarbone problem when doing pushups? help please?

The collarbone, also called the clavicle, is the bone over the top of your chest, between your breastbone (sternum) and shoulder blade (scapula). It is easy to feel the clavicle, because unlike other bones which are covered with muscle, only skin covers a large part of the bone.

Clavicle fractures are common injuries, and they can occur different ways, some patients fall on an outstretched hand, others fall and hit the outside of their shoulder, broken collarbones can also occur from a direct hit to the clavicle. In babies, clavicle fractures occur at birth during passage through the birth canal.

Just like North advise here, it's better to see your doctor because the most necessary actions they can do with you is an x-ray to easily notify them if there is some fracture, with that they can do necessary actions if what's better, they will remind you if what you should avoid to easily heal it and what must be the specific time you need to rest.

Good luck

Why does my collar bone feel strange or tickle?

You are probably correlating two completely unrelated things.

Cracking fingers, thumbs, back etc is most commonly creating a little void in the joint where fluid is rapidly moved. Usually can only do once.

It can also be caused by scar tissue and tendon movement, common in ankles or wrists. Can cause to happen over and over.

If you have some scar tissue or have hurt your shoulder before you may have some tendons that are making that noise.

I have separated my collar bone several times and it is loose too, not really sure what is annoying about it for you, but not much you can do without heading to a Orthopedic doctor to look at.
