Why Is Knowledge Good And Important

How important is knowledge?

Knowledge - the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject based on awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation - is the catalyst for good strategy. An idea - whether a priori or environmental - cannot manifest unless our wisdom can grasp it, our understanding interpret it, and our knowledge integrate the information for expression. This synthesis provides a basis for creating expectations. From a biological perspective I think we can associate the limbic system with knowledge - “The limbic system of the brain is a group of structures which govern emotions and behavior. The limbic system, and in particular the hippocampus and amygdala, is involved in the formation of long-term memory, and is closely associated with the olfactory structures (having to do with the sense of smell).”[1]So, without knowledge we cannot provide structure to the wisdom we have nor can we translate or express our understanding. It is knowledge that negates our instinctual response and permits higher level analysis based on previous experience. So, I would argue that knowledge acts as the ideal against which expectations and outcomes are compared and provides the basis for decision making.Footnotes[1] Limbic system: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia Image

Why is knowledge important for you?

Knowledge is more important. A baby kangaroo knows where to find milk, a lizard hatching knows how to catch it's first prey. These are all skills hardwired in their DNA and pass on for generations. Knowledge get us to the food, more importantly it helps us identify what "is" food. Knowledge tells us what's edible and what's not. Say my brother and I discovered a new type of pear in the forest, looks yummy, we brought some home. I became ill after eating a poisonous pear. Without knowing the cause my brother gives me another poisonous pear. Knowledge helps me identify the fruit, oh no this is poisonous, do not eat it. If I choose food over knowledge, I'll eat the pear and possibly end up dead. Knowledge help us locate food source. About prehistoric men, before they even moved into agriculture, while they were hunters, knowledge show them how and where to gather food, if I found food here I'll remember the route, return tomorrow for more. Knowledge helped men capture prey many times larger than they are, they learn to work together, to hunt in groups, they develop weapons and traps, knowledge gain from previous hunts tell them which animal is benign and which is a potential threat, that is why we know a hungry lion is more dangerous than a hungry rabbit. If I choose food I will jump in front a saber-tooth and go hey nice kitty kitty... With knowledge comes the desire to seek a better lifestyle and they settled. Knowledge helps us make better decision that could ensure our survival. Think about what they teach in survival class, with knowledge we can make better decisions, knowing what to do and more importantly what not to do greatly expand our chance to survive.

Why is knowledge so important?

I'm both athletic and educated. I think it is important to feed your body and soul. How can you ever reach peace without understanding empathy and how can learn empathy without learning about history and life? It takes wisdom, but education takes you their faster. Also, everything can be taken away from you except your essence of being. If that essence includes education, you can continue to evolve. For example, my family comes from a long lineage of very educated and very wealthy people, but after World War II everything was stripped away from them and they were put into Siberian work camps (no, not jewish). Having escaped and come to America, my family was very poor but kept reading and pushing the importance of education. I am not rich, but I live a fulfilling life and know how to take care of my children and myself despite adversities. Many people don't know how to do these things. That is how "Knowledge is power." Being strong is also important. Not allowing the body to be destroyed by chemicals and drugs as well as keeping it in shape is important. I know I am a little depressed right now about having broke my foot, but it's healing quickly and I know I will be up and about and on my bike and swimming in no time. I want my doctorate in sociology someday. Oh, yeah, and I'm not ugly either. Some don't see that, but because I take care of myself, I am beautiful inside and out, emotionally and physically. I teach that to my children and thousands of other children as well. Learn and be strong.

Is knowledge important?

Knowledge cannot be inherently good or bad/less or more. It is does not care either way. The mechanisms behind nuclear weapons are no exception, they can be used for any purpose that a sentient being desires to use them for. Even the bombs themselves are not evil, it just may have been used in a questionable manner. The bomb has no intention and I believe that consciousness would be necessary for evil.TOO much knowledge could be a bad thing if you become uncomfortable. I know that the more I learn about politics, the more uneasy I become. Unfortunately, "ignorance is bliss" is not realistic. I have to keep learning so I can participate in this world.Innocence as a child is a great thing, but sometime you must grow up. If you don't no any better, everything seems good to you and you'll be happy, but there is a point in life where you should know some of the bad things in the world. You can't live a perfect life because this isn't a perfect world. If you don't have any knowledge, it can be dangerous because for example, you'll jump off a cliff. If you know what is right and wrong, you wouldn't do that,It make's sense of good and bad allows us to communicate and keep's us alive, knowledge is cradle of humankind and our  quest for it  is what separate's us from any or every other being's that have or had inhabited this planet.

Why is general knowledge important?

I’ll let you know the pros of having wide range of GK.You can use it to make more sense and make more variety of examples in your answers to someones question. And that is usually convincing to even the greatest intellectuals. You can think deep in any field connecting the dots of variety of answers and frame your own question in the most effective way thus welcoming people to answer them. These answers turn out to be too good, and it feels you have learnt something new.You never run out of topics when in conversation with anyone and that inspires a healthy social bond unless and until you yourself wish to remain quiet. The interest to know more usually tends to involve the replier and he spells more knowledge in his replies which in turn improves your knowledge more and more.At last its more important to be aware than knowing things which anyone can learn.

How much knowledge is important in life? Why?

It depends.  There is no pat-answer to this question. There was this scientist who came across a river while he was traveling; the only way to get across was by a boat that was moored nearby. He approached the boatman and requested him to ferry him across. While they were crossing the river, the scientist, by way of conversation,  asked the boatman "Did you go to school? Do you have any knowledge of the world we are living in?"  The boatman replied "No sir - my father was a boatman and when he passed on, I took up the job"The scientist told the boatman "That's a shame!  You see, knowledge is everything in life. Without knowledge, half your life is lost" and so on.Suddenly the boat sprung a leak and water started getting in;  the boat was slowly sinking. The boatman shouted at the panicking scientist "Sir, do you know how to swim?" to which the scientist yelled   "NO! Please save me!" The river was rough and the boatman could not save the scientist - so he told the scientist "What a shame! If you don't know how to swim, your entire life is lost!" and he swam across to the shore. On the other hand, let's take SHERLOCK HOLMES the character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. One of the most widely held notions about Sherlock Holmes has to do with  his supposed ignorance of basic astronomy. “What the deuce is the  solar system to me?” he exclaims to Dr.Watson in A Study in Scarlet.  “You say that we go round the sun. If we went round the moon it would  not make a pennyworth of difference to me or to my work.”  “I consider that a man’s brain is like a little empty attic,  and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose.”Need I say anything more?

Why is knowledge important in survival?

its very important for getting a job;the more you know; the more are the chances of you getting a good job and thus getting a good paycheck. whereas knowing less reduces your chances of getting a good job and a good income and consequently gives you a hard time in being able to survive in the world. you have to play the game, read, listen from the ones who truly know and increase your knowledge; be a true player.

Why is knowledge important in Hinduism?

Hinduism as you call it is a religion or a set of values/beliefs that originated from something or somewhere?Hinduism or more genuinely the Sanatana dharma is an extract of the 4 vedas. It is the Vedas, that define what being Hindu mean. So understand why you call yourself what you call yourself is simple sense. So having the knowledge of what you are and what you are following and what you would be is important in Hinduism.

Which is more important knowledge or money?

Think about it in 2 ways. Money is a tool you use. It can buy you a better standard of living, it can buy you a better house, a better car. You can pay off people, or get protected through security. However, as is the case with many rich people, money can't buy you a better life. It simply cannot. A terminal illness can be helped to be weakned with money, but it cannot be cured.Knowledge brings sorrow, however with it you recieve the gift of living a greater life. You can talk your way out of situations, you can be a person whos knowledgeable. Perhaps with knowledge you'll be a healthier person. Rather than depending on money to save you, you depend on yourself. You think about your every move. Just remember this. Most of the successful people have kept their wealth for a single reason. They knew exactly what they were doing and what they were going to do next.By all means, money is powerful. Like presidents who are pretty much dictators. But without the knowledge, they could easily be finished off. The only way they got themselves into a position where the country will be worse off if they were killed, is the fact that they manipulated the country. And only knowledge can do that. Money can buy you a Bugatti Veyron. But without the knowledge, you wouldn't realise the car isn't handling properly. And in worse cases, you'd be speeding and probably end up dead in an accident.
