Why Is Only Half Of The Sound Picking Up On My Earbuds

How do you fix Sony earbuds when audio is only working in one side?

It depends what the problem is. The most common are:1. no contact inside the female connector in your device. This is easily checked by using a different heaphones that you know to work correctly. If they also lack sound when plugged into you device, then it is the female output on your device OR a software setting on the device. The first would need professional repair (possibly replacement of the main board), the second would not. But the second would depend on the operating software and what it can and cannot set.2. A physical tear (of the copper) anywhere inside the wires. Unfortunately, it is often impossible to pinpoint such a break. But if you can, you need to cut the wires at that point, then strip (burn & fine sandpaper the isolation coat away) the copper wires on both ends of the break, then twist them together again (making sure they do not touch eachother in any way, not even with one single strand). This repair is then best concluded by applying a drop of solder to each twisted wire, then taping all the naked copper (= two for mono, three for stereo) seperately with isolation tape, then tape those together (for "neatness"). Be aware that it will be the weak point of the wire though.3. If the wire is torn off the speakers, forget it. Unless you really know how to work with such small parts, it's not repairable.4. If the malfunction is in or very close to the plug, then cut off the plug with at least an inch of wire (to be sure), then strip the ends of the other wire (should be three on a regular stereo) and install a new plug - for this you need a soldering gun and solder.

Why does only one earbud in a pair of headphones stop working?

Try using the earbuds on different devices, different music etc. It could be as simple as what you are listening to has been recorded in Mono (just the left ear bud will work), your device has has “mono” selected in the Stereo/Mono drop down selector.Alternatively it could be that you’ve been winding and storing those buds a pretty repetitious way and with only a small number of copper leads transmitting the signal metal fatigue will occur and the copper wire will break - if so bummer. Breakages can occur any time, at any point and that’s just another bummer. The diaphragm in the earbud is tiny and also easily broken - you guessed it - bummer. For most cheap - mid range earbuds, it’s just a case of getting a new set (after checking out paragraph 01.).Well, best of British to you.

Did the static damage my earbuds?

This morning I wore a fleece out, and as I was taking it off, I received a static shock through my earphones, and both ears were shocked via the wires. I noticed no immediate damage to my hearing or the sound quality, so I let it go.

But later I was listening to music and I noticed that the left earbud seemed to play more quietly and would fluctuate from normal to soft whenever I moved my head.

I've heard a lot of people talk about how earbuds only last a few months, and I always thought it was because people just broke them. Do old headphones actually wear out? I've had mine and used them every day for over a year, all the time being careful not to damage them. I ask because this is the first sign of wear I've noticed, other than a few pulses of max volume I experienced last weekend when I was running a certain app, though I don't think that had anything to do with the earbuds.

Do you think it was the shock that caused this or have they just run their course?

I have a pair of skullcandy Riots. I did not expect them to last this long, but they're surprisingly dependable.

Thanks!

All of my earbuds only work on one side?

So I’m trying to use my earbuds and the sound is only coming out of one side. This happens on every set of earbuds I have tried. it affects anything that plugs into the jack. I know it’s not a problem with the settings because Bluetooth audio works fine. How do I fix this?
The problem is on an iphone 6s and an iPad Pro

Will listening to songs at half volume damage my hearing?

Who knows? It depends how efficient your headphones are. If you're worried that your music is too loud, just turn it down....

Music sound quality, headphones, & vinyl?

I have two related questions:

1. Do you care about the sound quality of your music?

I personally have ears that just will never hear all the sounds of a high quality lossless audio. However as an artist I feel that out of respect to an art form I cherish and the artist who create it I want the highest quality possible because they created something and who wants 30% of a piece of music (mp3s at 320 BPMs are about 30% of 1170 BPM CD). It is like getting 30% of a meal or of the Mona Lisa. And I just find that insulting.

2. Why do you think there is an increase in mainstream ignorance towards the decline technical arts side of music, mainly with regards to production/post production and dynamic range?

I don't know but often I see people, mainly my age (30s) and younger with fancy headphones listenng to shitty MP3 sound quality. LOL! You may as well buy your earfuckers at Target for 3 bucks, if you're going to listen to MP3 quality. And the new vinyl craze is all gimmick? Do these people not know that new vinyl is being produced with MP3 sound quality what a joke. I saw some kids at Hot Topic buying vinyl for $20 bucks and thought you could buy some great vinyl with great sound at any used record store for under 5 bucks, but it would be "old" music.
