Sore on tongue after eating sour patch kids?

two days ago I ate a bunch of sour patch kids and my tongue was rather painful the next day. I couldn't pin point the location but knew my tongue hurt. Today I noticed a red area with a really tiny raised white center near the back right of my tongue that was tender to touch and realized that was the area that was causing the pain. Wondering if this is a result of the candy? Or possibly gum chewing? I've been chewing 5 sticks of gum day for a week. I have a routine dental exam in a week, but curious on your thoughts.

Why do I get sweaty when eating candy like Starburst and Skittles?

you have reactive hypoglycemia
your body overeacts to fast-absorbed sugar

This causes an excessive release of insulin, which decreases your blood sugar by removing it from the blood and sending it to the cells.

But since the insulin is excessive, too much blood sugar is removed from the blodd and none is left for the brain. Then you have low blood sugar and you feel lethargic, confused, weak and have blurred vision.

In order to increase your blood sugar, your body releases adrenalin.
This causes shakiness, sweating, a feeling of panic.

When this happens you should eat a protein and a complex carbs, like bread and cheese.
Eating simple sugars to raise your blood sugar is the worst thing as it will rebound.

You should avoid simple sugars (expecially candies) eat sweets only after your meal and choose small portions of less sugary desserts. You should expecially avoid sweets and sugars on an empty stomach, sweets or even fruits at breakfast, alcohol and should have meals that contain enough fat (no low fat meals for you) and a good proportion of proteins and complex carbs.

My mouth feel weird after eating jolly rancher candies?

Don't eat anymore Jolly Ranchers and your mouth will get better in time. The citric acid in sour candy can irritate the soft tissues in your mouth, especially if it's hard candy since you hold them in your mouth for so long.

When drinking or eating something sour, once in a while, the area of my jaws closest to my ear stings for a few seconds. Not chronic pain, but has happened all my life. Can someone explain what this is?

There are six salivary glands: a pair under the tongue (glandula sublingualis), left and right under the jaw (glandula submandibularis) and left and right under the ears (glandula parotis). When starting to eat or sometimes even thinking about eating (e.g. thinking of biting a lemon) these glands produce saliva to make digesting food easier. Some people feel the glands at that point produce saliva.  You apparently feel the glandula parotis do its work.Sometimes though little stones block the duct of the gland causing inflammation, swelling and pain, but inflammation can occur of its own. When there is pain and/or swelling go to a doctor.

I had a lot of sour candy, and now my tongue really hurts?

Oh god I love sour candy :)

I know the feeling exactly, I once bought a huge bag of War Heads just so I could suck off the sour cover then spit it out once I got to the sweet part. As you can imagine, all that sour-ness made my tongue burn pretty fast. I remember once I did it to the point my tongue bled a bit. Ouchies!

But the burn is from the citricacid in the candy, that's what makes it sour (and so delish!)

There really isnt much you can do. If you havent already drink some water to wash the acid away, that will help some. But Ive found that a yogurt or icecream or some sherbet helps :)

Now I'm gonna go find that ring pop...

Sour candy hurt my tongue?

i was eating warheads, and i ate the whole package. i sucked on it, and now my tongue feels like it has no taste, and it hurts and kinda stings. When i look at my tongue, it looks like something rough was rubbing against it. Was it because sour candy has acid? in it, and how do i make my tongue feel better?

Why does the roof of my mouth tingle when eating certain sweets?

This happens to me, especially when I eat buttercream frosting, or anything with too much sugar in it. The tingle is a mixture of pleasant and unpleasant, and it goes away after a minute, or if I drink some water. I think it has to do with your saliva glands going into overdrive when they encounter a huge amount of sweetness.
