Why do people say you're acting White if you speak proper and don't dress like a thug?
i know exactly how you feel! i get the same crap about me acting white all of the time. the reason why people do that is because they are just plain ignorant. they are most likely not used to seeing a respectable intelligent black person so they think that all black people are uneducated. don't let other people's ignorance bring you down. i've been called stuck up and people tell me i act white all the time because i'm not a criminal or some kind of stripper or girlfriend to a drug dealer with five kids. just do what you have to do to make something of yourself just like i am. keep moving forward and be successful. put all that negativity behind you and be yourself. there is nothing wrong with being black and educated at the same time.
Why do most black people want or try to be thugs and gangsters?
The overwhelming majority of my relatives are black. None of them want to be thugs or gangsters. That doesn't mean they are perfect, though. Some stereotypes work. Not a lot of them are intellectual at all, and most are religious, with that weird kind of Christianity that seems to be in the majority, where "judge not, lest ye be judged" means "judge all you like; it's cool."Being somewhat immersed in that culture, though, I can understand why many do. Black people have to take a lot of shit that other people don't. Even LeVar Burton, of Reading Rainbow and Star Trek, who has more money than I can imagine, talks about being stopped by the cops.Black people, at least in the US, fade into obscurity unless they have a violent streak. You're constantly dealing with people who are against you for no good reason. Most of the time, it's a kind of psychological violence. I know this very well from my own life. However, that takes a lot of intellectual work to sustain. It isn't surprising that many find physical violence their only hope.
Why are ghetto black people loud and ignorant?
The answer lies in one word: Ghetto. People are a product of their environment. In the hood lies a set of values and cultures that are completely different from the "civilized" world. If you're in the hood, understanding and living by them is the difference between being a victim and a victor. hood rules: 1. Survival is the law. 2. Formal education is not of any particular value. How you navigate your life to survive in a hostile environment is immensely valuable. Being streetwise matters and might save your life. Having a PHD just makes you another sucker waiting to get robbed. So in conventional terms, you might be stupid as hell. A lot of bruthas are dumb as hell in classical terms, but they live like kings on the street because of that. 3. 100% not giving a f**k about what anyone thinks or about other people in general. If you feel like shouting, shout. If you feel like knocking a fool out, do it. If a kid has something you want, rob that fool. Some ***** talking trash? Knock her *** out. White folks mostly do not understand the real concept of "not giving a f**k" in hood terms. To survive in the hood, you legitimately, absolutely, positively, 100% do not care about anybody else. If someone get's shot in front of you: damn, sucks to be them. If someone has something you want and you're strapped, stick em up, fool. They won't give it up? *blam*. They're not you and you're the only person in the world who matters, everyone else is someone to be taken. You basically have to be a sociopath. 4. If it makes money, do it. The more the better. Ergo: if a weaker person is dumb enough to cross your path with something expensive that you can get paid for taking, take that sh*t 5. People must respect you. A lot of people say that in the hood, black folks mistake fear for respect, but they don't understand that in the hood, they're the same thing. If nobody fears you, if they're not afraid of what could happen if they cross you, you're a target. Period. If nobody has that fear of you, they're not going to respect you. You're a fish in a shark tank.
Why do black people praise the thug?
Well, the thug who just got out of prison isn't only being glorified by blacks, he's being glorified by the media. Blacks don't control the media, whites do...and the white media chooses to focus on black thugs rather than educated black men. Thug culture wouldn't be popular at all if only blacks were into it. You need to lose the racist attitude. You, just like the people you're complaining about, CHOOSE to focus on thug culture, ignoring everything else. Blacks are NOT the only thugs either; there are white, Asian and Hispanic ones too. There are also loads of white boys (who grow up middle and upper class), admiring and aspiring to be thugs. EDIT - Actually, the equivalent to blacks and thug culture would be whites and redneck culture. Yes, you do see whites glorifying redneck culture - look at the shows on CMT like "my redneck wedding" and Jeff Foxworthy. East Asians DO live up to their stereotype which is to own Chinese restaurants, beauty supply stores or massage parlors. Not all blacks feed into this but we have to choose our battles. Unfortunately for us, if one black person acts foolish, people label us all that way. There's an insane number of whites acting crazy, but white people aren't labeled that way. People like yourself act like we've all got to be a certain way. EDIT 2 - And as I wrote before, MANY non-blacks are also influenced by it. There are rappers all over the world - even Germany. Where do you think that influence came from? You choose to focus on the negative. The president is black; there are also senators, congressmen, doctors, lawyers, professors, etc. I have a bachelors degree, my father was a college professor, and my mother also has a college degree. I have extensive knowledge of the middle and upper class black community...So yes, I do say you're mislabeling us.
How do the "popular" people act at your high school?
Most kids at my school that are what I would consider "popular" (which actually includes myself) are: 1. Very smart 2. Athletic 3. Fun-loving 4. Act crazy at parties and dances 5. Are friendly to everyone 6. Don't bias friends on gender 7. Ethical 8. Flirtatious Maybe my school is a bit different... most of my friends go to church and are Christian. I wear a purity ring. But I like having fun. Flirting, having lots of friends, etc.... it's all part of having fun during the "best years," is it not? But everywhere is different, obviously. I consider "popularity" being nice and having tons of friends. I have a lot of friends, and I have straight A's, am very religious, and I just like to have fun. Popularity and stupidity can be associated with each other, but just because you're popular doesn't mean that you are stupid. EDIT: Wow, BoBiceLuver.... when you say that you aren't as "stupidd" as people think you are, are you serious?
Do you think cops in the U.S. have way too much power?
The powers vested in the police are prescribed in law and overseen by the courts and Federal/State Departments of Justice or equivalent. Since those laws are legislated by by the people through their elected officials, the answer to this question would be an emphatic “no”.Now, if the electorate believes that police powers should be changed, they have recourse by exercising their franchise or through a legal challenge in the courts. Otherwise, they really can't complain.That said, there will always be people who believe the police are too powerful but they usually have their own narrow agendas. There are also some out there who think the police need more power. So it goes in a democracy. People just differ from one another on points like this and that's why we have laws to keep things straight.Also, there will always be some policemen who exceed their lawful authority, in which case they are accountable to the courts just as any other citizen. It may be that those relatively rare situations may lead an observer to conclude that the police are too powerful. They're missing the point. It's not the police; it's some individuals who do wrong.Anyway, if you have any lingering doubts about police powers in the US, take a look at some other countries out there. Russia and China would be a good place to start. Believe me, American police are pussycats compared to them.
Are black people scared of white people?
As I am only one person, I cannot speak for the entire black population. What I can say is that in my experiences, generally speaking, no, black people on average are not afraid of white people. However, this all depends on location and the number of white people versus the black person or people.Let me give you an example to easier explain. I live in a primarily White City. I am not afraid of the population here. However, the small surrounding towns are places I tend to not venture to. Why? Very small Wisconsin towns with primarily white people, on average, tend to be very racist. Five years back, I was with a group of (white) friends when they had said, “let's go out in Howards Grove!”. Why Howards Grove? I still don't know why, but I went, despite gut instinct telling me “brother man, don't do it! These friends are gonna get you killed!”. I went anyway. Fast forward 45 minutes.The small town bar was getting busy. So many plaid shirts, Wrangler jeans, and cowboy hats/boots, accompanied by *ick* country music. As I walked up to the bar to buy a round, some neanderthal in a Packer shirt bumped me hard. I didn't say anything, but being a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, the look on my face gave away how I felt. Dude started jeering “nigger getting mad? Do something, gorilla”. His bravery increased when his friends came to back him up. Where the fuck were the ppl that brought me here???The bar staff didn't intervene, unless you count “take that shit outside”. Great. Suddenly, my friends came out, but much to my dismay, 3 out of 4 were what you could consider “valley girls” and the only guy (besides myself), despite being straight, was someone whom I could easily overcome in a fight.Long story short, one of my girls got shoved, I ran to the car realizing I had the keys, and drove off. That's not the end. These crazy fucks actually got in their pickup (go figure) and were literally chasing me Outta town, tapping my car a few times before common sense finally came to me and I actually drove the damn sports car like I should have since peeling out of the bar lot.I love white people. I'm half white, after all. However, when asked what scares me more, a group of inner city thugs or group of small town white guys, I'll always choose the thug route. Thugs want your money and maybe your shoes. Backwood rednecks want you dead.
Everyone thinks im a thug!! help?
ok im in highschool and b4 i hit puberty i was this little boy with fat cheeks and a round face all the girls in the older forms would always kiss me on the cheeks and pull on my cheeks to be honest it was embarassing. But after i hit puberty i got more muscular and i look like a thug it doesn't look bad but everywhere i go people think im a thug.the security guard, the teachers , the students everybodyy in my school we have to wear a uniform and in it i look like such a thug i hate it. its hott i've had girls come tell me im good looking and all that but its like having a laptop that you cant use . :I no girl takes a thug seriously when it comes to relationships and its annoying!! people who dont even know me act like im such a thug especially the security guards !! and girls constantly stop me and ask if im a stoner and all that but those all thots i dont want no hoe i wanna good girl !! but they dont want no thug . my reputation isnt that good but so is everyone's errryyybody be smokin weed dheze days all the guys in my age group do it so its not like that. how do i stop this or reduce it. anyway to look harmless like before??

I HATE when someone says that. I was on the phone the other day and the person I was speaking to said I sounded white. People need to start turning their tvs off and recognize that ebonics is not an actual language
