Why Wont My Tail Lights And Marker Lights Go Off

My brake lights don't work, but my tail lights do. What should I do?

Check the brake light fuse in fuse box that could be blown, and also check to see if the brake light switch is bad, it should be located under the dash and the plunger of the switch should be touching the brake pedal arm. Also check, if they are on the same bulb, that the combination brake light, and taillight bulbs are in working order, or if separate bulbs, that the brake light bulbs are not blown out.If all of those components are in working order, and the brake lights still do not operate, then all of the wiring from the fuse box to the brake light switch, to the brake lights and to the bulb sockets will need to be checked for broken wires, and loose, or corroded connections at any of the above mentioned components.

Why won't my brake light turn off?

If your talking about the brake light staying on on the dashboard either your e brake switch is sticking{often spilling soda, coffee etc causes this} or you need to have your brakes checked ASAP. If your saying your the exterior brake lights are staying on when your not applying the brakes then you need to either have your brake light switch adjusted or replaced{at the brake pedal under the dash}. Good luck and hope this helps.

The brake lights don't work when the tail lights are on. When I press the brakes while the tail lights are on, just one tail light lights up brighter. What's happening?

Brake lights are often integrated with the tail lights, both in the housing and in the bulb. The bulb will contain two separate filaments, one brightet than the other. The brighter one turns on when the brake pedal is depressed. In your instance, the filament connected to the brake light circuit is burned out, but the filament connected to the tail light circuit remains intact. You need to replace the entire bulb.

My tail lights won't turn off.?

It's a fuse problem that can be easily fixed.

If ever you have an electrical problem with a car it's usually a burnt fuse

Examples of some things that fuses regulate and protect are

- the cars horn
- the cars power windows
- the cars lights
- the cars radio
- the cars windshield wipers

Anything that requires battery power will have a fuse

If a fuse burns one of two things can happen.
(1) the electrical device it regulates will not work
(2) the electrical device it regulates can't be turned off

Unless the problem persists you shouldn't take it to a mechanic. They will usually lie and say its a bigger problem then it really is and charge you way too much. If you can't or don't want to change the fuse yourself get someone who can. Almost anyone who has ever changed a tire or their own oil can do this. Make sure you watch what the person did so you can do it yourself next time. However, I'm confident you could do it yourself if you tried.

I have an '01 Pontiac Aztek, tail/running lights don't work, brake and blinkers work fine.?

I have a 2001 Pontiac Aztek - recently, I've had some electrical problems where my fuses kept blowing. It was because of some touching wires. These wires have since been repaired. But my tail lights still do not work. My brake lights and blinkers work fine - but the tail lights and yellow lights on the front don't run at night, when my headlights are on.

I know that it could be a bulb - but it's not. It's all 4 lights and I've checked the bulbs, they're good. The relay and fuses that connect them are also good. I got a ticket the other night for no tail lights and I need HELP. It needs to be fixed ASAP. I think I should manually trace and check the wires for the lights, to see if they may have melted as well, but I'm not sure where they start/end.

PLEASE GOD HELP ME.

On my car, a headlight, a tail light, and a brake light all went out simultaneously. What is the most likely issue?

Looking at the wiring diagram for your vehicle, I can confirm there is nothing in the circuit (i.e. fuses, grounds, etc.) that would affect these items and these items only. Nothing that is, except for the MICU. The MICU is a module with relays built in to control the exterior lighting.I would definitely check the bulbs first, but if they are OK, suspect a problem with MICU. There were even recalls for it on various models. Here’s an article that will help you replace your check and replace your headlight bulb: How to Replace a Headlight That Has Burned Out

My 2000 Ford Focus marker, dash and tail lights are not working?

Fords have always wired the taillights, markers and dash lights together so you can tell if you blow the taillight fuse (the dash lights don't work). I know you said you checked the fuses, but I would replace the taillight fuse with a new one, just to be sure.

As mentioned above, the bulbs in the rear for taillights, brake lights and turn signals are duel filament bulbs. In other words, they do the work of two bulbs in one glass fixture. If you remove one of them, you will see two filaments inside the bulb. The smaller of the two is for taillights and the bigger one is for turn signals and brake lights. They are two separate circuits, so one may work and the other one won't.

Fuses can look good but be broken in a spot that is hard to see. Change the fuse first... it's the easiest and cheapest route to start with. The fuse panel is usually under the left side of the dash, between the steering column and the drivers door. There is either a sticker on the cover to help you locate the fuse in question, or it will be marked next to the fuse on the panel itself.

Good luck and have a safe trip and happy holiday.

The light in my uhaul wont turn off?!?

The dome switch is probably still on.

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.

Why is the "tail clearance" fuse on my subaru car on and wont shut off?

I don't think there are tail lights on the front of your car. But in all seriousness, it's probably a bad relay or a stuck switch. Take the relay out, test it with a multitester, and if the switch circuit has no resistance, then it is stuck open, which means that you need to replace it.
