Will A 1000 Watt Amp Run Two 900 Watt Subs

Would a 900 watt amp be good or bad for two 10" 150 rms-300 watt max subwoofers?

That amp is way to big. Your rms is 150+150=300 so you need to get a 300 watt amplifier.

If I have two 400 watt RMS subwoofers what size amp do I need? How can you tell?

Probably 800 watts at half the rated ohms of one speaker. Your amp must be able to push 800 watts at, say, 2 ohms if these are 4 ohm speakers or 800 watts at 4 ohms if these are 8 ohm speakers. It will say on the speakers what the impedance in ohms is.Get an amp that is specified with 800 watts or over, at an ohm rating that is SAME or UNDER…half the ohm rating of one of those speakers. That's the answer here's a short ramble:Almost inevitably you will be running the two speakers in parallel. Whether you have two outputs on your power amplifier; or if you go into one speaker then go out from that speaker to the next; the connection you don't see inside the speaker with in and out or inside the amp is a parallel connection. Parallel connections divide the impedance (ohms.) It takes a bigger amp to handle lower impedance, because lower impedance is lower AC resistance. Lower resistance means more amps flowing for the same output voltage. More amps requires a beefier output section. The actual equation for total speaker ohms of speakers wired in parallel is:Total ohms = 1/((1/ohms#1)+(1/ohms#2))…If you put in a third speaker there would be another similar term in the denominator, (1/ohms of speaker #3). More speakers, lower ohms…The amp will say what the watts and ohms are on the back, or at least in the manual it will tell you what it can handle. Be at or below the ohms, and above the watts.

I have two 10in pioneers ts-w251r subs. They say 120 watt nom 600 watt max my amp was a 250 watt infinity?

Power ratings can get a little dicey. Simply "250 watt infinity" doesn't really tell us what the amp is capable of. That could be 250w max, or 250w rms. It could be 250w at a particular impedance that you aren't running it at etc.

So at this point the answer is -- that amp could be perfect (125w rms per sub) or it could be way off.
If it's way off it's probably because the amp isn't powerful enough to get the most out of the sub.

Whats better 2 fusion 12" subs with a fusion 900 watt amp or 2 fosgate 12" subs with a fosgate prime 500.1 amp?

Both the Fusion Encounter series and Rockford-Fosgate P1's are entry level subs. Their performance and long term reliability will probably be about the same. As to value, Rockford-Fosgate is generally overpriced and Fusion generally underpriced depending on where you buy them and their exact cost.

But if you are looking for "more bang for your buck", consider a pair of Alpine Type E's and an Alpine MRP-M500 amp. As entry level subs, Type E's are among the best. And the MRP-M500 outputs 500 watts RMS into 2 ohms, exactly what you need for a pair of 12" Type E's. The Fusion RE-AM90010, by comparison, is rated at 350 watts RMS into 2 ohms. I've had the Fusion Reactor subs (a step up from Encounter). They're well made, and sound OK, but in my opinion, Alpine has them beat.

Can i hook two 2ohm subwoofers to a 800 watt amp pushing 400 watts to each sub?

whats the model number of the amp and subs? ill tell you.

rockford p3 subs and a 900 watt rms sony amp help?

Your problem may be the ohm load of the subs. If your P3's are dual 4-ohm voice coil, and you wired the voice coils and the subs in parallel, then you're presenting a 1-ohm load to the amp. That amplifier isn't stable at 1 ohm. If you're still using the same wiring you used for the old amp, then you may need to upgrade your power and ground wiring too.

You may also want to check and make sure you have the subs wired in phase. Disconnect one of the two subs. Does the other sub sound louder? If so, re-connect the sub, but reverse the (+) and (-) connections.

Ray Jay, that Sony amp is CEA-2006 compliant; if it says 900 watts at 2 ohms, then you can trust that power rating. The problem is that it's not possible to combine two 4-ohm DVC subs for a 2-ohm load. They can be wired for a 4-ohm load, which would probably be the best match for the amp. However, why would you suggest trying to "bridge both the RF and Sony amps together"? You can't combine two different amps for more power; you'll end up damaging one or both.

For 2 12'' subwoofers, T5 soundstream 900 watts RMS, what soundstream amp should i get to make these hit hard?

If you want to push them to their limits that would require, obviously, around 2000 watts rms. In many cars that much power will require a high output alternator, and some supplemental charging system wiring. So you need to consider that before you decide how much power you're going to run.
MOST electrical systems will stand up to 1200-1500w rms IF you don't blast it all the time.

As for an amp, I'm not finding an offering from Soundstream that matches up very well with a pair of t5's.
The subs are dvc 2's, so your wiring options for a pair are 1/2, 2 or 8 ohms, with 1/2 or 2 being the 2 logical choices.
Most of Soundstream's sub amps run optimally at 1 ohm. They do have one 1/2 ohm stable amp. That's the TX1.2600d, but it produces 2600w at that impedance, and it's around $600.

They have nothing that will give you 2000w at 2 ohms. The RUB1.2500d would be close, at 1700. The TX1.2000d and PX1.2000d would both work pretty well at 1300w rms at 2 ohms. Those are about 400 each.

Another option would be a pair of the DTR1.900's. One on each sub. Looks like you could do the two for a little less than 400.

Subs Match amp? Help please?

I have 2 rockford Fosgate p2 punches dual 2 ohm 600 watts 300 watts rms. my question is will a 900 watt power amp be ok to run them, or a 4/3/2 channel 750 work, or a 4/3/2 Chanel 500 watt or a 2 Chanel 1000 watt peak amp work ???
