Will Increasing My Ram Increase My Gaming Performance

Will increasing my CPU speed .3GHZ increase gaming performance?

Hi Adam,
I don't think that it is worth it. I do have a question for you. I have the same processor, but I can only get mine up to 2.8ghz and then it becomes unstable. (not because of temps) I am a rookie when it comes to OC, so if there is any way you could help me out that would be awesome. What settings do you have your cpu set at and what cooler do you have?
THanks,
Heath

Please email me at iskor1289@yahoo.com

Adam,
THanks for the advice. I will try that out tonight. Like I said though, I for some reason was only able to get it to run at 2.8ghz stable. I don't think that I had my voltage levels set right though.
THanks again,
Heath

Will upgrading RAM from 8GB to 16 GB improve gaming performance? How much?

If you have not already seen some people are saying no and some are saying yes.The answer is that it depends on what load the PC has on it with 8GB of ram.If your game + OS and Programs is using < 6GB of RAM then odds are that you are not going to see any difference. If you are 6.5 GB or more then you will see a differenceIf you are 7.5 GB or more you will see a massive difference.Another thing to consider though is the rest of your hardware. If you have a weak CPU (amd A__ apu, athlon x4, fx-4130, celeron, anything from the previous decade, etc) then you won't see any gains from more ram because your CPU is holding you back more than your ram. Same can be said for if you have a very low end GPU.Now, the best way to upgrade your memory is not the most cost-effective way. When you buy RAM in kits the 2 sticks are made from the same sheet of silicon with usually same batch of memory chips and are tested to work seamlessly together. When you buy another stick (or say you had 1 kit of 2x4gb and buying another kit of 2x4gb); even if you get the exact same model of ram there are inconsistencies that may cause problems. You may be completely fine with no issues, may have an occasional error, may have stability issues daily, or could not even boot correctly. Thus the best/safest thing to do is to get a new 2x8gb kit of memory.

Would increasing the RAM improve the gaming performance on my laptop?

Absolutely not!As the bottleneck here is not the RAM, its the Graphics card which is Intel Integrated Graphics - HD 5500 which is not at all designed for Gaming.Well the least you could do is to lower the graphics settings of the Game you are playing as in laptops you cannot even upgrade the Graphics Card.

Will more ram improve gaming performance?

Contrary to what the guy above me said, RAM DOES affect performance, to an extent. It will negatively impact performance if you do not have enough of it. However, if you are already at 4gb, then no, you will not see any improvement, unless you run a TON of background apps.

EDIT: I am adding this video specifically for the guy above me, who thinks ram does not affect performance:

The only thing changed between those videos is the amount of ram. Learn about PC's before you answer questions.

Will downgrading to Win XP improve gaming performance over Vista on a AMD Phenom 9550 quad x4?

I bought this desktop a couple weeks ago and it plays most of the recent games on max settings with the exception of a few (Crysis, Far Cry 2). I know the difference in perfomance between Dual and Quad cores for gamings and did not know duals can outperform quads in most games. Anyway, I was wondering since XP is smaller than Vista, could I downgrade to XP and expect better performance in gaming. I can run Tomb Raider Underworld on max settings (on Vista 1680x1050) with the exception of a few places (i.e. the huge octopus tends to lag a little when I near him, have to turn some settings off). Some of my specs are:
AMD Phenom 9550 quad core x4 (2.2ghz)
6GB ram
ATI Radeon 4850 HD
500 HDD
I am still happy with this machine but if I can make it better, increase its performance without damaging it, I would do it.
Yes...I'm a Noob

Will having more RAM improve the gaming performance of average computers?

Yes it will, to a point. The main limit on how much adding RAM can improve your performance is your CPU. Your CPU can only feed so much information to your RAM at a time, and if you keep upgrading your RAM without upgrading the CPU, then it’ll be the bottleneck in your system. The other limiting factor will be your graphics card. Your graphics card is used by games for math-heavy rendering, usually for fine details of a few things rather than rough details of many things. If you have no graphics card installed, your system uses what is called “integrated graphics”, where it cordons off a section of your RAM, and combines it with the integrated graphics chip in your CPU to form a rudimentary graphics card. This can be functional at best, and extremely glitchy at worst. You’ll want to get a good graphics card as well, perhaps even more so than upgrading your RAM in many situations. It really depends on the game, how the game is programmed, and the general mechanics.Examples:Minecraft Java Edition: CPU bottlenecking is a major problem because it’s only allowed to use 1 core of your CPU, and there’s not really anything you can do about that. Possessing and allocating more RAM is a very effective solution, as Minecraft is programmed to make use of it since it’s the easiest to do with Java. Minecraft makes little to no use of your graphics card.Totally Accurate Battle Simulator: Renders lots of low-detail items at once, such as your entire army and the rudimentary AI. More RAM helps a fair amount, but when you get to levels of filling the field with insane amounts of peasants, it all comes down to your CPU.Rainbow Six Siege: Mid to high grade CPU required, but bottlenecking isn’t really a problem unless you have lots of RAM and a bad CPU. Has detailed and realistic rendering, especially with map destruction. GPU heavy for sure, and past having around 12 or 16 GB of RAM, you won’t be helping your performance without upgrading your GPU.

Will upgrading laptop RAM will improve any gaming performance? Because RAM is the only option in laptops.

I think these guys didn’t even read the additional info you wrote…Let’s start with the next links:Intel® Pentium® Processor N3530 (2M Cache, up to 2.58 GHz) Product SpecificationsIntel HD Graphics (Bay Trail)The first one, is the official information that Intel provide about your CPU, and I have good news: your CPU supports dual channel.Dual Channel is the only way to improve your performance via upgrading your RAM. But, keep in mind, that your laptop must have the second slot to plug your other RAM module; otherwise, you will lose your money and will silently cry some minutes (It happened to me). Therefore, first, check if your laptop supports a second module, and then, buy the same module (if possible) or a module with the same frequency, voltage and/or latencies (the more similarities between them, the merrier). If you want to avoid any implications or possible damage, you can buy RAM modules sold in pairs, but it depends of your budget.Regarding the capacity, anything over 6 GB is an overkill, because your computer is a pretty low-end one, and it wont be able to handle a lot of things running at the same time, even with a myriad of available RAM.I’m assuming you use a modern OS (either Windows 8, 8.1 or 10), so, you will feel a huge improvement in your general experience, even if your lap do not have a second slot (the mere OS is probably using almost all the RAM, thus, tasks like web browsing are producing subpar results, because they are RAM-starved).The second link provided is a list of real-life performance of your CPU+iGPU, just as a reference to have at hand when you decide to play a game (the list is not exhaustive at all, but it may help).Sorry for the long answer… I tried to be as succinct as possible, but everything written here was necessary.Happy gaming :)

For increasing game performance, should I upgrade to additional ram or should I add a SSD and then run the game on it?

It depends and it’s never a simple answer.Generally; If you’ve got enough RAM for a game adding more shouldn’t help. I’d upgrade to at least 8 or 16 GB to be sure you’re equipped for most games. SSD mostly helps with loading times, so you shouldn’t really get much of a bump there except for that.More specifically… Adding more of either or both of these things does help performance, pending the game, although only if your CPU and GPU are ready to play ball. An SSD as opposed to an HDD can help decrease lag spikes and increase performance in any situation where the game has to read information off the drive, mainly open world games or games with large areas.More RAM should do the same thing for games that have a 64 bit engine.Conventional knowledge is that SSDs only help with loading times, but that’s forgetting that most games have “loading” times during playtime now with large worlds, and an SSD can decrease stutter and improve smoothness. RAM definitely can give you a boost in FPS too if you don’t have enough already.Without knowing your situation… I’d blindly guess more RAM is more important than an SSD.

Does adding more ram helps improve gaming performance in a laptop with integrated graphics?

NO.The integrated GPU's are not that powerful compared to standalone GPU's. The reason would be, In all the cases of an Intel processor GPU is integrated along with CPU on a single die (read as Chip). Now it becomes really hard to keep its area to minimum and expect it to be less power hungry and thus produce as little power dissipation(heat) as possible. Now CPU's process the instructions given to them, these are mostly stored in RAM and then transferred to Cache's(small internal memory of CPU). Thus more RAM means more instruction queuing capability and thus faster operation as the speed of RAM is way more than HDD. Now in case of GPU's they almost work  in same fashion but they are dedicated to processing just graphics(math mostly). Thus if a GPU is of lower end(case of integrated graphics) it cannot process intense graphical requirements of games. so even if you increase the RAM result will be more or less the same. So it doesn't really help in improving performance of games.Integrated graphics use the same RAM which is also used by the CPU, Now the dedicated GPU's have specially designed Video RAM so it can never meet the performance of a dedicated GPU's.

If I upgrade my RAM will it improve gaming performance?

No it won't. Your problem is low power CPU and GPU.
