Will a Jansport backpack shrink?
I'd follow sweetpea's advice, although if you have a leather base on the backpack, the leather will shrink. Check your care tags.
Should I buy a JanSport backpack or a North Face backpack?
Neither. I’d suggest an LL Bean backpack. Not only are they the sturdiest, best constructed that I’ve seen (after 10+ years of volunteering to help elementary students disembark in the mornings, I’ve seen a lot of backpacks!) but they also have a lifetime, no questions asked, full replacement warranty on all of their packs. My daughter just went off to college with the backpack I bought her in fourth grade and it still looks like new.
How do you return a JanSport backpack?
Shortly after my dad furnished Jan and I, a sewing shop above his torque converter repair business, on 17010 Aurora Ave. N , SEATTLE WA., we began making backpacks. Dad (Norman Pletz), paid for my patent on the backpack. He built equipment to make the adjustable frame. Jan and I had just graduated from the U OF W, and she tried teaching for awhile. but she really wanted to sew. Just the two of us built the business. Jan had her own antique shop in the front of the store. I was able to design entirely new concepts, such as the student book bag, which is worldwide today, and the dome tent. Jan made patterns from my drawings and specs. As we were relaxing in front of the tv at night, I listed every part of every model to calculate the cost of materials, and I timed her sewing—-she was fast. When someone wanted to return a pack, we worked with them to fix it to their liking. In this way the product developed. We should the first packs tailored to women and children by special order through REI, Seattle. Gary Rose kept us in orders, and we always joked that he saved the biggest orders for delivery right after the 4th of July. the business grew fast, and returning a JANSPORT pack was never a problem. Later, after Vanity Fair acquired the business, the packs are all made in china, and returning them is not an issue
What would happen if i wash my jansport backpack ?
Jansport backpacks are really well made. If there is leather on it, you can't wash it, however. If there is a covered cardboard piece in the bottom that helps hold it's shape, you will probably want to remove that since getting the cardboard wet within the covering will make a mess. I have washed my son's in the washer and just thrown it in the dryer. They last for years.

How can I fix a backpack zipper jam?
My brothers brother just got a new jansport backpack last week and he's already jammed it. The zipper is completely stuck in the outer linen (the fabric "lip" or whatever its called). It was a little at first, but then he yanked it and now its so jammed. My mom and i tried to lightly pull at it but nothing. Is there ANYTHING that can fix the jam?
Is the JanSport Agave or JanSport Odyssey the better backpack?
A2a,Jansport has declined so much these days. They used to have great bags, now they make overpriced, overbuilt school bags. If your main use is hauling a laptop they are functional for that. For school and office use they have good organization pockets. The odyssey at least has a good hip belt. But both are unsightly, looking too “sporty” without being useful for sport. For my money I'd prefer something from Peak Designs, Arc’teryx, or Deuter.Neither is good for hiking. The suspension systems are far to simple, and not comfortable, they have both have way too many zippers, and pockets so your limited in what you can carry.For hiking I'd prefer something from Black Diamond, Salomon, Osprey, Deuter or Arc'teryx.
