What kind otc meds can i give a cat for pain?

Didn't your vet let you know what to give your cat?

Without close veterinary supervision, absolutely not. Your cat may need to have blood work and a physical examination done prior to receiving aspirin to ensure the liver, kidneys, and thyroid gland are in working order. Some cats, just like humans, are actually allergic to aspirin or can have bleeding disorders that are exacerbated by this drug. In larger doses aspirin cannot be broken down because cats are deficient in a liver enzyme called UDP-glucuronyl transferase. This causes toxic metabolites of aspirin to accumulate in the body and make your cat very sick or even cause death. This enzyme is also responsible for the metabolism of morphine, coumarin (a blood-thinner), and certain other drugs. If your veterinarian sees nothing wrong with your cat's internal workings, he will discern the proper dose and instruct you how to medicate your cat. Whatever you do, do NOT give your cat acetaminophen (Tylenol), as two 325mg tablets are enough to kill it.

I just had my cat spayed. She appears to be hallucinating from whatever they gave her. Is that common?

emergency vet! my friends animal died because he was allergic to the medecine

Cat sleeping a lot after getting fixed?

It takes some time for the anesthesia to wear off. Also being in pain and just recovering will make him sleep.

Are you giving him pain medication? This will make him sleep all the time as well.

Keep his food and water near and just let him sleep.

Why does it take 12 hrs for Tylenol PM to wear off?

Be it Tylenol PM or any other drug, They all have their effectiveness' time span or period. In the case of Tylenol PM, this pain relieving medication gets completely disolved and used up by the body and therefore, It wears off after 12 hours in your case.
