Will My Rabbit Ignore Me If I Get Her A New Bunny Friend

Will my rabbit ignore me if I get her a new bunny friend?

I have had my bunny girl for 2 years now. She's a cage free house bunny who's spayed. Recently, she has become very skittish and has a tendency to thump and run away over nothing or her movements will become very jerky and tense as if she's being watched by a predator. I spend lots of time on the ground with her whenever I'm home (doing homework, watching tv, etc.) and there's almost always someone home with her. I was wondering if adopting a second bunny might help her anxiety; however, I am worried that if we adopt a second bunny that they'll ignore me because they're too wrapped up in themselves. Is this possible or would they still want to come and snuggle, play, etc? Please help!

Why doesn't my bunny rabbit let me touch him?

He is always running away from me and it's not like I try to touch him too much...I only try to pick him up occasionally and he still doesn't like it...I had him for a month now...he is so independent and he doesn't play with toys or anythings...he likes exploring more than anything...he doesn't even like chewing his chew toys...=\...

My dog whines at my new rabbit?

TheaterP...

Two things are happening here and both are bad. She wants the rabbit free so she can get at it. Thus the whining. Let's say you let the rabbit out allowing her to play with it, it will trigger her feal instincts and she will kill the rabbit. You have to understand, even though we have dogs as pets, they still have feral instincts. That is why they chase cats, squirrels etc. As soon as your rabbit tried running away from the dog, bang! It will trigger the dog's instincts and she will nail rabbit. People who designed rag toys that squeak when bitten by a dog know that the sqeak sound brings out the dog's feral instincts. Thus, making it a favorite toy for dogs. However, if your dog was raised with a rabbit, that changes everything; the dog accepts it as companion. I have several friends whose dogs play with their cats, reason being, the dog was raised with cats and cats with dogs. Kittens raised with mice, will make companiions. Your dog's indifference to the rabbit was due to your presence. However, let the rabbit out with the dog, and you'll see a whole new different dog when the rabbit takes off running. If a pack of wolves chase a deer and the deer stops. The wolves will just stand their looking at it. However, if the deer runs, that is the trigger for the wolves to attack it! This is called stimulus equals response. The rabbit runs, this ignites the dog's response and it chases it. You can stop her whining by just saying, "NO!" and remove the dog from the rabbit. Dogs learn by association, and it won't take her long to learn that her whining at the rabbit is a no-no and she'll stop doing it. Take my advice, don't let the rabbit out where the dog can chase it, or you're going to have a very - very dead rabbit. I hope that I have been of some help to you, your dog and the rabbit.
