susieQ - I'm sorry, but you are not correct. Tramadol CAN be habit forming and definitely CAN cause withdrawals is stopped suddenly. It is a narcotic-like medication. Although it does not contain opiates it binds to some of the same receptors that narcotic medications do. The rest of what has been said it true. It definitely can cause drowsiness/sleepiness or it can cause insomnia. It can cause an upset stomach.
Tramadol vs. Percocet?
i have whole body pain from a seperate issue i think.. cause i have had pain for the last 8 years, but in the past 5 months the pain has changed big time all kinds of new sensations ( felling like little quick injections of fluid in my ribs/back of head/gut/back, also heat sensation mostly off the left side of my tail bone, feeling like i have razor blade cuts under the skin in my left thigh/ left side pelvis/ left side just under ribs / over ribs/ back / back of head, front of left shoulder / back of elbow, my left hand feels weird bad .. i cant explain that feeling very unplesent and it burns too. like i said the pain has never been this bad, also both my legs shake when walking down stairs and if i bend my legs while standing, and my left leg buckels at the knee.. and is getting worse rapidly over the past 5 months. also get some vague sensation on my head top/ left side back of ear area, and back of head. also the pain stings somtimes
Will Tramadol help my painful opiate withdrawal?
I am getting off of Vicodin and I am starting to go through withdrawal. I read that Tramadol helps ween people off other pain killers such as Vicodin. I am also concerned about the possiblity of seizures. I've read Tramadol can cause seizures. I have never had a seizure though and I took Tramaol for 20 days about a year ago & never had a seizure from it. Has anyone been in this same situation I'm in? Withdrawal and taking Tramadol to ease it? No I cannot go to a doc at this time. No money, no insurance so I cant just walk into a hospital or doc office at this time. So that isn't an option for me. I just need some good advice and hopefully from someone with experience. Thank you so much. Help and answers will be much appreciated.

If you suffer from chronic pain (pain that last for longer than six months) you may do better with a long acting narcotic medication, I.E Oxycontin/Oxycodone CR (Oxycodone), MSContin (morphine), Kadian (Morphine), Avinza (Morphine), Duragesic Patch (Fentanyl), Hydromorphone contin (Hydromorphone), Opana ER(Oxymorphone) and Methadone If you have nerve pain or neuropathic path you may find that methadone works very well at controlling it. It is not just used for Herion addicts. However, due to it's unique chemical makeup it has a long half life and must be adminstered with care. if you decide to ask you doctor about it make sure he or she is quite familar with it. if you have acute pain you may do better with any of the short acting medcations Morphine IR, Oxycodone (Roxicodone, Percocet, Percodan, Percolone, Oxy IR) Codeine, Hydromorphone(Dilaudid), Meperidine (Demerol), Oxymorphone (Opana), Fentanyl (Actiq lozenges, Fentora) there are a few others but they are not as strong as Hydrocodone (Vicodine, Lortab, Norco) and they are Codeine and Propoxyphene (Darvon, Darvocet) Tramadol/Tramadol ER (Ultram, Ultram ER, Ultracet) Some people find Tramadol a very powerful pain medication and while it is not actually a narcotic, it still uses the same receptors on the brain. You poor thing! You’re right, the pain from that kind of infection can be unholy at the best. You really do need to get to a dentist right away. Most dentists will not extract the tooth while it is that infected and swollen, but it does sound as if you need another kind of antibiotic. He should also be able to prescribe you another painkiller for the short term. But you really do need to be seen tomorrow. That kind of swelling can abcess through your gum into your mouth, into your jaw or through into your sinus cavity. None of which is a good thing. So ask for an emergency appointment if necessary. Alternative drug for long term pain relief, other than Tramadol?
I have sciatic pain in my right leg that tends to radiate behind my knee. The pain on a scale from 1-10 can go anywhere from a constant 6/7-10 in seconds. I don't sleep because of this pain, I basically lay around doing nothing bored to tears because of it as well. I was prescribed 'Tramadol' 100 mg x1 a day for pain relief. I tried for a while to just use over the counter paracetomal + caffeine pills but they just didn't make the cut. The tramadol makes me nauseas, hazy in a nasty way, and just gives me an overall feeling of 'something in my body is gross.' My legs twitch and I can't seem to stay awake for an hour at a time as well when I'm on it. I'm not a fan of medicines in general, but I'll do anything to take this pain away. I've recently had to go back on the tramadol because I couldn't bare the pain I was in, but I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't like it. Does anyone know any alternatives??? Important note: I was in the hospital earlier this year for VOLTAREN poisoning. I have two herniated discs in my neck, and in the military that was their solution and apparently I'm allergic. CANNOT BE IN VOLTAREN FAMILY. I guess this is important drug info: I'm 20 years old, female, 5 foot 7 healthy weight. I'm ok with a little bit of pain as long as I can walk, and I don't want to FEEL drugged.
