Would You Change School On Your Senior Year

University: Should I change school in senior year? How will universities view this?

If you're talking about high school, then it likely won't matter a lot to universities.  They look at your full record.  They will also recognize and take into consideration your school.  Typically, they know the various high schools and are comfortable in accepting students from those school knowing they got a quality education and they will make a good college student.  If you transferred to one of those school, they will look at your full record but not in the same light as one who went to that school for all four years.

How much can your GPA change your senior year?

LOL, it can change A LOT….Let me share with you a cautionary tale my friend….Throughout high school and even junior high I was a high achieving student. I had 3 Bs by the end of junior year, and I think a 3.87 UW GPA and 4.3 W GPA (I could try and fish out the paperwork or do the math but frankly I’m to lazy for either lol). Now, this was not super ideal for me as UC Berkeley was my dream school but I thought, with my myriad of leadership experiences, internships, and special awards, admission to Cal was still VERY possible. Then came the start of senior year….5 weighted classes, super annoying underclassmen, prom and friendship drama, so much outside pressure to decide exactly what I wanted to do with my life and future, and just an overall lack of motivation (senioritis?) happened. Shit hit the fan….I ended both semesters with 4 Bs and 1 A which dropped my UW GPA down to about 3.61 and my W GPA to 4.167…Admission to my dream school was negatively impacted.I was waitlisted at Cal, stupidly sent my first semester senior grades, and was then rejected. My friend who, I think, had a similar profile to me was waitlisted and then accepted because she maintained her GPA in senior year as best she could. While I still, surprisingly, received other offers I was really happy with, I missed out on attending Cal which was an attainable dream up until senior year.Don’t be stupid like I was. Stay focused on your goal(s) after high school and don’t let your GPA drop….Best,Jane

Changing high schools in senior year?

Changing schools shouldn't look bad on college apps. For privates, they ask you why you changed schools.

As for valedictorian, yes, it may affect you because different schools have different standards. For example, since you are the top of your class, assume your GPA is a 4.3, at the school you transfer to, the highest GPA may be a 4.5. It all depends on the school you are transferring to. I suggest you try and convince your parents to let you stay your last year. It's better than having to make new friends, readjust to the environment, etc.

Should I change schools before my senior year? I really need some help!?

First, to be honest, I only skimmed your long story. Because I know the best thing for you to do, is stick it out.
You have time invested at current school, even if the time wasn't good for you.
Both teachers and counselors know you.

If your current school is as bad as you say with druggies, and non-Christians, then you should "shine out" as a model student, and if your peers don't notice the teachers and school admin should notice.
Go to a "better" school, and you will not "shine" at all, you will be just ordinary, not outstanding.

You really think the band at a new school will want a player who they don't know? Sometimes all the instrument slots are filled up, with students on a waiting list.

Playing music is more than just knowing the cords, (as you probably know) but also team work, and whether they trust you, and know your musical talents personally. You must earn your slot in the group.

As a stranger, you will be passed over for most things, I'm afraid. Think about that.

At your current school you will have good references from teachers or counselors, for scholarships or recommendations for entrance into a good college.

Forget about love and friendships.
After graduation from high school all your past friends will scatter, and go their own way.
Friendships often distract from keeping focused on real reasons for attending school, to prepare for your future.

Sure, in 5, 10 20 years, there will be school reunions. Imagine going to a reunion of a school where you only attended one year or less?
No fun there, for sure.
Stay with a school where you know the people, rules, and they know you.

Being a stranger in a strange school isn't fun. Who will the counselors help most? The student whose been there less than a year, or the ones there 4 years?

You will find the job market is much like high school.

You won't always like your job or the people that work there, but you tough it out, because it's where you "earn your living", and at your current school, you should be working to "earn an education", it will be over there soon.

What is it like to transfer schools in your senior year of high school?

I believe there are many factors involved which determine whether the experience will be positive or negative. My parents moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina the summer of 1989 right as I was about to enter my senior year in high school. I had lived in the same suburban town 20 minutes south of Boston my entire life. I had been enrolled in the same school district since kindergarten & had known every one of my peers since that time. I was very active in school activities including cheerleading and being elected Vice President of my junior class. Transferring from a school where my graduating class had less than 100 students to a high school with a graduating class of 300 in a city 14 hours away that I had never even heard of was devastating. The third day of school I developed flu like symptoms which doctors informed my parents was attributed to a psychosomatic condition. Basically I was so miserable & stressed my mind was making my body physically sick. I plotted to get on a plane to go home to Ma during the Christmas break & never step foot in NC again. I resented both of my parents for the move for some time. They moved by choice - not because one of them had received a job offer too good to refuse. The timing to me was extremely selfish - they couldn't wait ONE more year for me to graduate? I loathed school my senior year & would skip every chance I got. At 44 I'm over it but there was a time where I did feel robbed of the traditions & rites of passage a high school senior's year brings. My mother told me years ago she regretted the decision to move at that time & if she could go back to 1989 she wouldn't have encouraged the move just before my senior year. In today's economy there are challenges that relocating can alleviate. However if a child is happy & adjusted a move right before or during the senior year is cruel.

Should I do my senior year of high school online?

I think you’re the only person who can decide. What can someone say here which would really alter your choice?I’m a teacher, so I’ll be biased towards you continuing school. I could tell you that you can always finish your project later, but I have no idea what it is or how much time it can/will take. In other words, I have no idea what I’m talking about. What I do know is online programs. You might get a degree through one, but it is rare that one is equal to an actual school education. If you’re self-directed, it might be fine. You might not even really need most of the stuff you would have learned in a traditional program… but I have no way to know if that’s you or not. You might consider staying in a traditional program because it is more likely to be recognized by universities, but you may not care about that, either. Or your parent’s acceptance… but that may not be an issue.So…. really we’re back at the beginning.

I want to do online school on my senior year?

Your diploma would be just as accepted as any high school diploma. Most all colleges accept homeschoolers with no problems whatsoever. As a matter of fact many colleges actually like homeschoolers. You can check with your local communtiy college and many of them offer a program called Learn and Earn or Online courses that can count for high school or college credit. There are many good resources. Check on your state's law on withdrawing from school. The Department of Non Public Education is a good place to start (check out their website). If you are motivated and a self starter there is no reason why you cannot complete your last year yourself. Good luck and if you have any questions please look up someone who has some experience in the subject and not someone with just an "opinion".

How old are you in your senior year at high school? is that when you do the SATs?

Your birthday is just 10 days after mine! You would be going into your senior year of high school, like me.

EDIT: Ages will vary slightly based on when your parents decided to send you to school. Because your birthday falls early in the school year some parents will wait a year to enroll the child so that the child is not the youngest in the grade. However, I know kids born in December of 1991 that will be seniors, its typically a parental decision that makes the difference. So, if your parents decided to wait a year to enroll you you could be a junior. A Senior is typically 17 or 18 when they graduate, again depending on when the parent enrolled them.

The SAT is taken at the end of junior year and the beginning of senior year. So yes, most seniors will be taking the SAT during the fall months.

best of luck

My terrific acquaintances in extreme college have been made in those first 2 years, earlier I grew to develop into "wide-spread" because of the fact they have been the main open-minded and affected person. they are nevertheless my terrific acquaintances. well being club class develop into the worst element ever! i develop into convalescing from decrease back surgical operation and could no longer do something yet walk in circles together as all and sundry else develop into enjoying activities and working. After my scientific expert excused me from well being club class completely, existence develop into appealing and that i had plenty greater potential than everybody! Even on the days as quickly as I stayed up until 2 AM writing an AP English essay on the final minute! With time, the different pupils found out some thing: i develop into myself and gentle being diverse. whether i develop into criticized or given puzzled glances approximately my habit, i could proceed doing as i presumed develop into top. For some reason, they respected that. on the grounds that I grew to develop into greater desirable at social skills from learning psychology for the duration of extreme college, it additionally more suitable my acceptance. i'm very proud to assert that i develop into promenade Queen as a senior. This accomplishment made me concern that I lost my Asperger's on the beginning up, yet I nevertheless had each and every of the quirks I had earlier. it is only that I knew a thank you to talk to human beings greater desirable. Now, i'm a school freshman and my colleagues think of i'm weird and wonderful as quickly as greater. no longer as atypical because of the fact those in extreme college thought i develop into on the beginning up, yet nevertheless eccentric. This cycle of acceptance seems countless, yet my extreme college suggestions shop me constructive. sometime, the individuals who was once your individuals on the beginning up of highschool will possibly look decrease back and experience sorry approximately that they exceeded over you.

What classes do you take your senior year in highschool(tweltfh grade)?

Well, the answer to this question depends on what colleges you plan to apply to. For competitive colleges (i.e.- Ivies), you should porbably take 4 years of math, unless you are very exceptional in a particular area. Then again, if you skip out on a math senior year and use it as an opportunity to take an extra AP (as it seems you plan to do), then doing so should not hurt you. From personal experience, taking an extra history over a science one year did not seem to hurt my college apps at all--so hopefully the same sort of thing will work for you. Personally, I'd say that you should take the classes that you believe are the most challenging, but the ones you know that you'll perform the best in. Hope this helps and Good Luck ^ - ^
