Would You Take Advice From Someone That Went Out Of Business

What advice would you give to someone who's starting a business on the side while working full-time?

Let me start with a little story…Norm had a problem. Every week he searched for fun things to do in the the city of Ottawa but it was time consuming. He would go from one site to the next searching Google, then Facebook, Meetup, then Twitter to try to find the best events. Instead he wished he could simply receive an email with a complete list of events every week.Inspired by this idea and with a little nudge from me, Norm went to Mailchimp and created an email list – and for $10 a month he started to put together his list and now sends it out every Wednesday.Norm started telling his friends. A few shared it and the list started to grow organically because it solves a problem that many people have. Now event promoters are contacting Norm to be included in his list and Norm charges them a fee if the event promoter wants to give the list some special perk to encourage the subscribers to attend their event. You don’t need a lot of money to start a business. You can do it on the side and it doesn’t have to be complicated either. You just need a solution to a problem. If you can solve a problem better than anyone else than you have something. And if you focus on adding as much value as you can to ignite conversation – then you will grow with and because of your subscribers, customers or fans. This is the best type of business.

I bought a vehicle and the car lot went out of business. Finance company doesn’t have records of the vehicle?

Ok. A couple months ago, I bought a Jeep. I just got a phone call from the finance company saying they don’t have a copy of the title or the lien release. So they basically have no record of the vehicle I’m assuming??? My payment was rejected because of this. Soooo I’m unable to make a payment, they’re unable to collect a payment. Unless I give them copies of my paperwork. So technically if I were to say, not pay my payment, there’s nothing they can do, right?

Any advice on asking someone if they'll sell their car to you?

Ok, I live in the boonies! And there are usually no good cars for sale on our local CL, Ebay, local clsifid. So I thought about asking around, I've had friends that have done it before and have gotten a pretty sweet deal. Obviously you don't want to ask someone to buy their daily driver car that you see gone a few hours everyday, but if it looks like that they might not have a need for the vehicle, or it's been sitting for a while (and you know it works). It doesn't hurt to ask right?

But my question is, how much should I have with me? Should I be aware of the KBB value? What if I take a test drive and it's not what I thought it was? Do I lower my bid? What if I offer WAY lower then what they thought they were going to get out of it?

Cheers guys!

I have acat with a urine promblem can someone offer advice and info?

My cat Auto has had 3 urinary tract infections -- I know all about them -- we even had him to the animal ER once and he's been on a decathater (sp?) twice -- it makes him miserable! He is on the Hill's Science Diet C/D too (well actually he just switched to W/D -- which is a low fat verstion). The prescription food does not hurt the other cats -- all three of ours eat the same thing. The vet recommended separating them to eat (it would save money -- but you probably know how realistic that is) but told us it would do no harm to the other kitties.

I don't think it would be terribly harmful to allow the cat outside -- maybe ask the neighbor if they'd mind picking up their food? I highly reccommend staying with the prescription diet, Auto has been on it for about two years now and we haven't had any more problems.

Another option our vet offered, was they can perform a surgery where they snip the tip of the cats penis off to give him a larger opening for passing crystals. I kind of wanted to go ahead and do that we've litterally spent thousands of dollars on that cat due to UTIs, but they wanted to try the food first.

Feel free to contact me if you want more info.

How do you get your w-2 if the company is out of business?

You should get your Form W-2 by Jan. 31. Of course, if the company you worked for is out of business, your chances of getting that form are probably drastically reduced.
Companies that go out of business are still responsible to provide employees' W-2s. However, they rarely do. This is because the employer may not possess the knowledge to prepare the tax statement itself or doesn't have the money to pay someone to do it.
If you don't get your Form W-2 by Feb. 15, you can call the Internal Revenue Service to get some assistance. I learned this by calling the IRS and listening to its TeleTax Topic 154. TeleTax is a series of recorded tax topics available by calling (800) 829-4477. A list of available topics is provided in the Form 1040 instructions.
Of course, if you ever tried calling the IRS to get help (other than recorded tax advice) you know it is next to impossible to get through on their lines. I recommend you call early in the morning when you'd rather be sleeping or after 6 p.m. The number is (800) 829-1040.
Prior to calling, you should gather as much information as you can in order to reconstruct your wages and tax withheld. Of course, if your employer gave you pay stubs that showed your gross income and payroll taxes, then you can pretty much rely on this information to come up with your Form W-2.
If your employer was less than thorough when it came to giving you such advice, you're going to have to get more assistance from the IRS. For example, such information can come from your 2000 Form W-2 if it was similar to 2001. Your prior W-2 should also contain an employer identification number that can help the IRS track down the parties that may be responsible for submitting 2001 Forms W-2.
If you have to reconstruct your wages, the IRS may provide you with Form 4852 as a substitute W-2. Form 4852 should also be provided to the Social Security Administration, so you can get credit for FICA tax paid.
