Year And A Half Nipple Piercing Closed

How long before my nipple piercing closes?

Most of the time, fresh nipple piercings will close up fast enough to make jewelry insertion difficult within 10-30 minutes, and close up permanently in a few hours.

If you want to save the piercing, you have to get the barbell back in within that timeframe. I would recommend using some kind of antiseptic on the barbell (if you can find it, that is), followed by boiling it for a few minutes. After that, just slide it back in (as slowly and as painlessly as you can make it) and secure it until tomorrow. If you could find a piercer open at this time to do it, that'd be ideal, and I'm sure they would be happy to help for a small fee.

If you can't find the barbell or a piercer, you either have to improvise, or say goodbye to the piercing. If you can't find something that's the right size and can be sterilized just like the barbell, it's the end of that nipple piercing. I would wait at least 4-8 weeks before going for it again.

I've had my nipples pierced for a year and a half and they still crust...?

Sounds as if THE METAL of the piercing is the cause!

I once had a pair of glasses where my skin seemed to react allergic to the metal.
Whereever the ear pieces rubbed on my skin, it became red, sore and even wet.
Metal allergy is due to nickel; as it has outstanding mechanical qualities, it is very often part of alloys.
Check if the piercing contains NICKEL; that´s the most potent contact-allergene among metals!

Try another piercing; copper would do, but it can give stains;
silver is perfect, for it is the strongest antibiotic metal.

Get a silver piercing; make sure the alloy doesn´t contain nickel.

To make the skin/wound less sore:
Make the strongest possible black tea
(take a tea-bag, put it on a saucer, moisten it with a tea-spoon
of boiling water, let it extract 15min)
.
Take out the probably poisonous piercing (I´d BET it contains nickel!)
and LEAVE IT OUT!

Then squeeze out the tea-bag and rinse the wound with the tea!
The adstringing components will close the wound and keep it closed,
far better than any cooking-salt could ever do!

And they´ll let the sides of the wound heal separately, thus the channel in the skin remains open, like a pierced ear-lobe!

@gegele: The true reason why they shouldn´t take out piercings out of an infected wound is that the woud will heal and close the hole.
If the gem is the cause of the soreness, youi don´t even need an infection.

@Linzie: No, that ain´t normal. If it´s frequent, it shows the incompetence of the supervisors of your cosmetics-industry, who are either too lazy to outlaw the use of nickel in fashion-gems, or too dumb, or too bribed.

The last reason seems most probable to me, or do you have another explanation for the continuous allowance of another addictive drug that costs tens of thousands of American lifes every year ?

How long can you leave your nipple piercing out before its closed?

Easier solution!!!!!

Go see your piercer and ask them if they have any PTFE (or any other kind of medical grade plastic jewlery). These little plastic barbells can either be custom fitted or you can take advantage of the fact that most nipples fit on a regular 5/8 inch tongue bar. You can't wear any metal in your piercings, but most hospitals won't say a peep about plastic

Leaving your piercings out is an unecessary risk for nipples (unless you're getting a breast augment in which case ask the doc). Its not like you're going to aspirate plastic nipple rings if they have to intubate you.

If you choose to take the risk of leaving your jewlery out, you'd be surprised how willing some nurses are to help you get it back in place. My mom is an RN at a surgery center and has trained all of the rest of the staff to take jewlery in and out while patients are still asleep. Not all nurses are so forward-thinking, but you may find one. Doesn't hurt to ask. If nothing else you can have whoever's at the hospital with you put them back in.

But to make life easier check your piercer for plastic jewlery

Do your nipples stay hard after getting them pierced?

Have you ever noticed how when you wear earrings, you can sometimes forget they are there? You don't feel them after a while unless you are concentrating on them, or knock them and remind yourself they are there.

The same goes for body piercings. After the piercings aren't so new, you do not feel the jewelry anymore, because your body does not react to constant stimulus, preferring to only bring the new to your attention.

What does this biology lesson have to do with your question? Simple- because your body does this, the answer is no. When you first get them pierced they feel very new and strange. However, after a while you stop noticing them- and so do your nipples. At first they stay hard from the new stimulus, but eventually they will relax.

Also, depends on which way you are getting the pierced. I got mine done with vertical barbells, and I have noticed that, while they are not totally hard, they don't fully relax as much as they used to- for example, they are somewhat visible through thin bras and shirts. However, my best friend got hers done horizontally with CBR rings, and she says hers go back to normal just fine.

How long can I leave my nipple rings out before the piercing begins to close?

I wouldn't trust if for more then a couple hours. I had mines pierced took them off for an x ray and left it off for like a day and a half. When I tried to put them back in one of them was closed and the other was half closed. I never put them back in after that :(

How long to wait to get nipples re pierced?

I've had my nipples pierced for about a year and half. Last night I took them out, for the first time, over night because my breasts were sore. When I awoke this morning to put them back in, the holes were closed. I tried to put the barbells back in but at best they would go about half way through, and that's after about 10 minutes of pushing the barbell through. I think my best bet is to let them close and then get them redone. A few questions: how long should I wait to get them redone? Should I go ASAP to the piercer to see if he can do anything? Are there any cautions I should take for getting them done a second time? (does it hurt more, is there a greater chance of losing feeling, etc)
Thanks!

Should I get my nipple pierced?

Don't even think about doing this piercing yourself, it takes a long time to heal, there are veins and an infection can develop in your milk ducts and if not pierced correctly it can reject.

Your breasts are still developing so placement of the piercing may look fine when you do it but in a year or 2 look different such as angle change due to your breasts changing shape and size.

Because you are a minor there is no piercer who will do this piercing even with parental consent as this is considered a genital piercing when it comes to girls.

EDIT

I actually have both of mine pierced, it takes a minimum of 6 months for this piercing to heal however it is likely it will take closer to a year, you are going to find your nipples are sensitive because of your age, the pain of a nipple piercing (because it hurts during a large part of the healing process) is going to be even worse. Also even once this piercing has healed it can play up again for no apparent reason, or even a gentle knock can set this off.

I was not implying you were a silly little girl, I would never encourage anyone to do this piercing at home, a home is not a sterile environment.

As you say you wouldn't allow it to get to the point where it would ruin your nipple, it doesn't take much for this piercing to leave horrendous scars, a friend of mine also had both hers done, they never fully healed so after a year and a half (no migration or anything like that occurred nor did they get infected at any point) she took them out, she has been left with large amounts of scarring on either side of the nipple which has left her with a lot of anxiety about others seeing her chest.

As another user said, this is not a lip, nose (etc) piercing, this one actually is quite a big deal as far as your body is concerned.

How Long To Wait For Sexual Activity For New Nipple Piercings?

I just got my nipples pierced Sep. 12th.

The healing process has been great so far. I have been cleaning it 3x's a day with Antibacterial Soap. Just a itsy bitsy of blood the day after and yellow crust, which I hear is VERY normal. I think I am going to switch to Sea Salt Soaks after a week because I am reading that that is a really great way for new nips to heal....

I actually just found out the healing process is that it will take up to a year is that true?

Also, how long before you can do anything sexual? I basically got the piercing for more fun with my boyfriend and want to know how long we have to wait before he can do things to my nipples.

One more thing...how long should I wait to get a ring. I got a barbell because I my piercer said that is best for newbies. My piercer said I can change it after 6wks. Other females I know with that waited 3mths. Does it vary according to how fast your nips are healing? And how do you know they are healing pretty fast and can change it?

Sorry for all the questions... :-)

Any positive feedback on my nipple piercings would help since I havent had them for even a week and would love to learn more things through this healing process.

P.S. I have also read other question/answers about other nipple piercings and there were some people that were not so kind. Let's all be grown adults about this subject. I am a 25 yr old woman and I know how to make my own clear choices in my life. So, please, if you have any negative comments regarding this subject...go onto the next question!

Thanks,
Kristen

18 Year Girl Wondering If Its A Good Idea To Get Her Nipples Pierced?

Well first and foremost, let your conscious be your guide.

As far as to do it or not...if it's something you want and you have researched it...then make an informed decision. Not listening to a bunch of strangers who say no...and I have a friend...let me tell ya something, we all have friends (at least most of us...i think.).

Talk to people who have their nipples pierced and people you know. Talk to different piercers and ask them for their knowledge. Pick their brain about all the questions you have.

When you pick a piercer you are comfortable with...then follow his instructions for aftercare and you should be fine.

Dont just go to a shop and do it...forge a friendship with your piercer by meeting them and talking to them before hand...not the day you do it...just get some information. Most piercers will be willing to talk to you about any concerns or questions you have.

As far as what you asked so far, yes it is a sensative area and there is a chance for rejection of the metal.
As far as infection, there is always a chance for infection and complication. As long as you follow your piercers instructions, you should be ok and if there is any complication, your piercer can advise you on what to do and when to go see a doctor if needed.

Best of Luck!

What is your opinion on transgender people?

Hm. Well, imagine knowing your name is Bob. This is something you know as surely as the sun will rise in the east. It’s cold, chilly, unemotional knowledge. But as time goes on, people start telling you your name is Sue. Insisting. And with confusion bordering on despair, you try to insist that your name is Bob, but then the shouting starts. The hitting starts. Sometimes, the religious torture starts. And this is both terrifying and bewildering to you because you know Bob is your name like you know that 2+2=4. But every time it comes up, people start in with the hysterics. It can get scary, like they’re the ones in need of an exorcism. And over time, it just becomes easier to just smile and nod and answer to Sue.Oh, throw into the mix that your body starts to change. It’s on their side. But you’re still Bob! Every time you walk past a mirror, you see Bob dressed up like Sue. And it’s actually a physical shock, because you’re expecting to see Bob and you don’t see Bob, you see Sue.But you’re still Bob.Then imagine that people insist you’re Sue so hard that if you try to establish yourself as Bob, your parents may disown you. Your significant other will leave you. Your children will mock you. You’ll always struggle to find meaningful employment, society will push you to the fringes, to fend for yourself. You’ll get no help from them. You may be beaten or killed at random just for being Bob and not what they think you are, Sue. In some places, you’re not allowed to exist. I can never return to Dubai, for example. And it’s so hard because how in the world can people hate us so much?! What did we do to them? Why do we deserve this? All over something as mind-numbingly trivial as Bob or Sue.That is what it’s like.
