Your Favourite Inxs Song If You

What is your favorite song?

Instagram by Dean.I love this song because it perfectly illustrates how social media serves as a facade for how we really feel. Someone could be posting the happiest pictures in the world on Instagram but secretly be sad and no one would ever know. It also helps that this song has a video that if seen without the lyrics, makes no sense. In the music video, Dean stays in the same exact room for the entire song, where he mostly stays in the center of the room. When you first see him, he comes off as more of a rapper by the way he is dressed. When I first saw this video, I was disappointed and confused with what I was watching, but the more I thought about it, I started to realize how well the video actually portrayed the song. The reason why he was dressed like he was was not because it was a rap song, which it isn’t, but because it is supposed to show the fake facade of Instagram. While he looked like a rapper to most, including me when I first watched it, behind his rapper facade was really just a guy, singing about his frustrations and loneliness. Immediately judging his appearance and putting him into the rapper category was unfair, but it is exactly what the song was about: unfair judgement and hiding emotion. Another part of this song/video that I really love is the pause right before the outro of the song where he stops singing and says the words, “sometimes I feel alone.. like Robinson Crusoe.” I don’t know why I am enamored by this, as I have seen it done in the Blood Sweat and Tears video by BTS (which I loved too). It connects to the song on the loneliness level, but other than that, I’m not sure how Robinson Crusoe has to do with the song. I know that being confused and not sure how parts of a song fit together should be a reason to dislike it, but for some reason that I can’t figure out, it makes me like it more. If you get the chance you should really take a look at it (with subtitles).

I could seriously go on and on...the 80's is my era, baby! I adore the music from that decade. I remember the very first airing of MTV. It was such an innovative concept! lol Here's a little trivia for you:

What was the first music video ever to air on MTV?

["Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. Aug. 1, 1981]

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Who is your least favourite musician/group?

Kiss. I can’t believe how much money they’ve made off of their lame music. Take away the clown make up and we would have never heard of them. Proud to say that I have never given them one thin dime. No records or Cd’s, merchandise of any kind, I never even watched their TV specials etc. I did go to see them live on their FIRST farewell tour in like 2000, but the sky box tickets were comped. I would not have paid my own money to see them. What i expected was what I got. Fake blood and fireworks to distract the audience from mediocre musicians playing such classics as Cold Gin and Rock and Roll all Night. My God, Stanley’s vocals are like fingernails on a blackboard. I will say I do like a few of their songs (Beth for one and Hard Luck Woman) but when you look at their career in it’s entirety, the music is pretty crappy overall and their lyrics are pretty juvenile. It’s all been about the stage show. I found it dated. Just my opinion. I know millions of people love them. I just never got it.
