02 Crv Speedometer Intermittently Works. Only Works When Car Has Been Driving And Engine Is Warmed

Why does the steering wheel lock up while driving?

What Causes the Steering Wheel to Lock Up? | eHow Losing control of your car's steering is a terrifying experience, one that can lead to a crash with horrific consequences. If this happens to you, then you must try to bring your vehicle to a stop at once and determine the cause of steering wheel lock-up before you drive your car again. There are a number of reasons why your car's steering has suddenly locked up including:Key MechanismNot every steering wheel problem occurs when you have the transmission engaged and are heading down the road. Sometimes, drivers report that their steering wheel stays locked even after inserting the key into the ignition. When that happens, the car probably cannot be started let alone driven. More than likely the key assembly has worn out and needs to be replaced. However, before calling your auto mechanic, try to move the wheels to the left and to the right as sometimes the steering column "catches," a problem that can be resolved if you jiggle the wheel.Lock PinGeneral Motors issued a pair of recalls for the C5 Chevrolet Corvette (1997-2004 models) due to problems with locked steering. In addition to being locked while starting, owners complained that in some cases their cars could be driven but with no control of steering. This problem is due to a lock pin that fails to withdraw fully, allowing contact between the pin and lock plate. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA ) website (see Resources) for information about recalls #04006B and #04006C or call your Chevrolet dealer.ConclusionWhile the three causes mentioned here are among the top reasons why a steering wheel may lock up, there could be other reasons. Contact an auto mechanic for assistance, or if you are handy with repairs, consult a Haynes or Chilton repair manual (or anything similar) for guidance.

Why is my car shaking and the check engine light flashing?

A shaking vehicle AND flashing MIL ("check engine light") sound like the vehicle is misfiring on at least one cylinder. As @Anna Nguyen, @Brendan Sinclair, @Antoun Nabhan and others have said, it could be an ignition related problem. It could also be fuel-related. If one or more fuel injectors are clogged or dead, that would also cause a misfire in the affected cylinder(s). These are relatively cheap/easy things to check and fix.Other causes (which could be more complicated and more expensive) to fix include contaminated fuel, a bent intake or exhaust valve, a broken valve spring, a damaged piston/connecting rod, and on and on.I recommend getting a scan tool and checking the codes which are causing the MIL to light/flash and I also strongly recommend NOT driving the vehicle until the problem is fixed. If you continue to drive the vehicle as is, you will exacerbate the problem. Dumping unburned fuel into the exhaust due to a misfire will overheat and kill your catalytic converter. A more serious problem like a bent valve can eventually cause you to crater your engine (i.e.: completely destroy the engine).

1993 honda accord speedometer stops working randomly???

hi there!

your speedometer is NOT run with a cable. It is run using an electronic signal from a speed sensor located on the transmission.

That is a very common problem to Honda Civics and Accords!.

I have seen what you are describing many , many times.
The speedometer will not work or be erratic or get stuck!

More than likely the Speedometer has gone bad.

Here is how it works.

The speedometer is run electrically.(i do not mean digital!)

So there is nothing to grease in the Speedometer System as everything is electronic components. That means there is No Cable Running the Speedometer To Break!!

First you need to check for a proper signal from the Speed Sensor. To measure the signal you need to hook and auto meter to the wire and check for AC VOLTAGE. It will be small and goes up and down with the speed of the vehicle. A good square wave on a scope.Do not replace the speed sensor unless you know it is bad or you will waste money!!

If there is no signal then you must replace speed sensor. If not then move on to the Speedometer.

The main Integrated Chip on the speedometers circuit board has probably gone bad. This causes erratic or no operation of the speedometer/odometer.

There is no way to repair the problem. You must get a new or used speedometer ! !

My local pick n pull junkyard will sell me a speedometer for $20.00 for that vehicle in San Jose California.(the dealership wants $280.00 brand new.)

i could repair yours for about $100 out of the vehicle.

i hope that helps. Good Luck!

What is the meaning of EXI written on honda cars?

EX-L is a trim designation. Unlike most other makes, Hondas generally have no options directly from the factory. They do have accessories that can be installed at the dealership. For most Hondas, The first trim level can be DX which is a pretty stripped down car. The LX models generally add Power Lock, Power Windows, Cruise and few comfort features here and there. The EX generally upgrades the radio, adds a sunroof and possibly alloy wheels. The EX-L is an EX with Leather. This is another trim level and can often add other features such as heated seats, and improved gas mileage or larger engines.

For the Most part the EX-L is the top of the line. Their are some exceptions as in the Odyssey or Civic which have other designations for the higher end.

There is also sometimes an EXL-N which adds navigation.

the only real break in the Honda line with this system is in the Ridgelines. RT, RTS, RTX, RTL, RTL-N

Why did my car shake and the check engine light flash while stopped at a light?

What you experienced was almost certainly a misfire event and the cause may be recorded as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the engine controller’s memory. Most failures that are significant enough to cause MIL illumination will record a trouble code and its environmental/ data information from the moment, even if the MIL is no longer lit. Onboard Diagnostics work constantly to keep the MIL off, looking for a reason to turn the CE light out if the condition hasn’t been seen again recently, eventually even erasing trouble codes if all’s good. I can only speculate on the nature of your event, but a thorough scan to retrieve codes and freeze frame data of the moment will often shed some light on the situation.Misfires come in many flavors, ranging from slight loss of performance in a single cylinder, to one or more holes being completely dead. Your description of shake at an idle implies a power imbalance, which usually involves complete loss of performance, but just one hole.Barring an at-home scanner being available, rolling the ignition key from LOCK to RUN three times, then leaving it in the RUN position at the end will initiate the customer code-read feature, spilling any matured codes stored in the PCM through the instrument cluster’s odometer window. All codes will be four digits in length, beginning with the letter P, such as P0123. DTC information can be found at OBD2-OBDII Engine Light Trouble Codes Definitions, Description and Repair Information online.One-trip failures - those that have not quite matured - will not be displayed in this feature, but will show up on a high-end scanner if present. If only a single cylinder misfire code is retrieved, pull the coil and spark plug to inspect for signs of flashover - black marks on the upper spark plug insulator and inner coil boot that will not scratch off with a fingernail. Flashover is pretty common on coil-on-plug ignition systems and the cure is to replace both the boot and spark plug together. Worn plugs tend to incite this sort of situation as spark will always seek the path of least resistance. If your DTC list includes an injector control circuit code that matches the cylinder of misfire, chances are good that the injector is at fault. The injector may test as completely normal when cooler, but will go to an open circuit once heated, either naturally or with a heat gun.

What are some things to replace when a car hesitates at low rpms?

First off figure out and diagnose why its doing that, or else you wont have a clue what it is or else youre going to just be throwing parts at it and money down the drain by just simply guessing. From my experience its not one cut and dry answer It could be lots of things. Most likely if it has a carburetor the carburetor needs an adjustment, or spark plugs are old and worn out, air filter is possibly worn out and clogged with debris so its restricting the airflow. Oxygen sensor is a possibility. Or it could be a fuel filter/injector clogged/ fuel pump blocking proper fuel flow. The catalytic converter or exhaust could be clogged up with carbon deposits, but i doubt that. Lastly if its really high mileage like 200,000–400,000 miles and it could just simply be old and worn out and the piston rings arent sealing very well, so its low on compression which will make most engines low on power but thats pretty unlikely especially if youve taken good care of it, done oil changes on time and its maintained. All these items are consumables, they are regular car maintenance repairs. Its amazing how much better a car will run when you replace all those things and wear out over time. Take it to a reputable ase certified mechanic or if the car is under warranty go to the dealer. Or if you got a buddy thats good with cars take it to him. The good news is its usually something simple, and all those things arent hard to fix unless its the fuel filter/fuel pump. tell me how it goes. Good luck dude!

Can someone explain to me how the Honda sportclutch works?

This allows riders to choose whether they want to actuate the clutch manually or simply let the machine work like an automatic-clutch-style machine - the choice is simple as can be.

So whether a rider is seeking race-style function or the latest in easy-to-use operation, it's all part of high performance in the inimitable Honda style for 2006 with the TRX450R and TRX250EX.

When coming to a complete stop, the rider now has the choice between disengaging the engine drive with a conventional clutch lever mounted on the left side of the handlebar or letting the centrifugal clutch handle disengagement. Either way, the engine will not stall.

However, the Honda SportClutch now also allows the rider to accelerate rapidly by manipulating the clutch during fast starts, while climbing hills or when exiting corners - just like a machine with a conventional manual clutch. Bottom line: The Honda SportClutch offers the added control techniques of a manual clutch system, and gives the TRX a much sportier feel.

How is this accomplished? Honda ATVs and motorcycles featuring an automatic clutch incorporate a centrifugal clutch plus another clutch, a change clutch, which disengages the engine and gearbox when the rider operates the gearshift pedal. In the new Honda SportClutch system, the change clutch is now actuated when the rider pulls in the clutch lever, not when the gearshift pedal is actuated. Elegant in its simplicity, this straightforward modification endows a whole new dimension that riders will greatly appreciate.

What are the symptoms of a bad transmission speed sensor?

On some vehicles, there are sensors that function specifically for certain parts of the vehicle. Sometimes a bad speed sensor will mess up the function of the ABS brakes (causing them to overreact or not kick in at all, which usually creates a light on the dash), other times it can cause erratic speedometer readings and/or (for auto transmissions) cause inconsistent shifts and it shifting completely out of gear into neutral at random. Some vehicles it will do all of these things at once, but you should get a CEL (check engine light) or ABS light to show up on the dash if one of these things are becoming problematic enough to cause issues.
