How often should a 14 year old workout?

I'm 14 years old, 5"10', and 140 lbs. I'm slightly built, and I would like to build more muscle. I want to build muscle as fast as I can because I want to enter my first year of high school in September with a nicely toned body. At the moment, my abdominal muscles are decent, but my pecks, arms, and shoulders need a lot of work. I play a lot of basketball, so my right arm is noticeably larger than my left.

My goal is to even out my biceps, and build my triceps, pecks and shoulders. I want to do as much work as possible, but I heard that if I overwork my muscles the recovery time is going to be a lot longer. Right now I'm working out twice a day every other day. For my abs I do the plank until it's unbearable, the abdominal hip thrust, the Russian oblique twist, the bicycle, and the body cross crunch. For my chest I do the dumbbell flye (with two 10 lb dumbbells) and the dumbbell pullover. For my arms I do the dumbbell biceps curl and Perfect Push up. I maintain the correct form while doing the exercises but I don't feel the burn as much as I'd like to.

First off, thank you for reading my whole story. Second, what exercises should I do and how many times a week should I do them to get maximum results?

I am 14 years old and i want to start a workout plan for myself can you give me any advice?

hi I’m 14 years old turning on 15 weight about 135 pounds and about 5"7. This year I enrolled my self in weight training. My main goal is to gain some weight and just like they say muscle weights more than fat so i though that would be in a way a healthy way to gain some and at the same time get buff. i would like know if you guys have any tips for me about nutrition and the basics because the last thing i want to happen is that i get injured. last year in track i messed up my shins and was force to retire the rest of the season so in a way i just want to make a comeback and probably it will help me boost my self-esteem

How often should I work out? I am a 14-year-old and want to get fit/healthier. Don't say I'm too young either.

I don’t think it’s ever too early to get and stay fit. Especially because it’s a great habit to get into for the rest of your life. That stated, I think it really depends on what activities you are doing. You don’t say if you’re male/female, or if you’re done growing yet. These factors need to be taken into consideration, because if you’re still growing, you don’t want to do too much too quickly, because it can halt growth. Also, if you’re a female who has/hasn’t started menstruation, then there are different activities you should be doing, and your calcium requirements differ if you work out, as well.My best advice would be, regardless of the above factors, aerobic activities are great at any age. Remember to start slowly, to stretch ONLY when your muscles are warm(usually after working out), to drink LOTS of water, and eat as healthy as you can. Food is fueling your body, and if you’re starting to work out, you need healthy fuel. You also asked about how often you should work out. If you want to stick with a program, you don’t want to overdo it right away. Maybe start with three times a week, for no more than an hour at a time. See how you feel after, listen to your body, and adjust what you do. Definitely give your body a rest every now and then. Finally, the best advice I ever received about exercise is to do something you like because then it’s not ‘work’. Maybe swimming, walking your dog, dancing to videos, taking a Zumba class, playing flag football, or even running up and down the stairs. Do anything that gets you sweating and your heart rate up. (Please know that you should still be able to answer questions and talk a bit while working out; if you’re huffing and puffing too hard to be understood, you’re working too hard.)Hope this helps! :)

What Pre-workout should a 14 year old take?

none. You don't need it, it wont magically build muscle. You have to eat in a caloric surplus in order to build muscle. The only prework I would recommend is you can make it at home
This is how you make it you put a cup of pepsi then add instant coffee maker to it. It will work just fine. You are young dont need all these preworks.

Is it bad for a 14 year old to workout often?

As long as you get enough Protein from meats or beans, and give your muscles plenty of rest, only good will become of that. However, if you over-work your muscles the already fermented Lactic Acid will eventually give you more soreness doing you slight harm now, but might turn into serious injuries later on.

I'm 14 years old and I really want to start working out, but I have school and there is no way I'm waking up early enough to work out before school. Would working out in the afternoons (3–4PM) affect my workouts in any way? If so, how?

At this age its a great choice to start working out. I think the main goal is to develop a health system and habits that will keep you working out when your older and have a more busy life. It depends a bit of what you are trying to achieve. Build up muscles or endurance? Since you are 14, your cardiovascular system might be in best shape, but still never forget to warm up. Building up muscle mass and work on underdeveloped muscles seems the best idea to me for a person in that age.The time doenst make much difference just check how you feel and how the time affects your training. Its different for every person. If you feel tired a short rest (15–30min) and some food should def do the trick and get you back fully powered. The most benefit you might get out of martial arts or complicated sport. You might even be able to make money or a living out of it later on.

I am 14 years old and I want to start working out, but my father says I'm too young. Is he right?

Your dad is probably thinking about heavy and intense work out routines like weight-lifting or body-building. If that is what you want to do, then yes you probably are too young. However, if your intention is just to get in shape and keep in shape, then discuss entering a sport or physical activity with your dad. Things like Martial Arts, Yoga, or school-affliated teams are actually a great way to introduce your body to physical stress, and are in fact, a work out. It will also keep your body flexible and ready for anything more intense that you may be planning in the future, as well as open up friendship opportunities and future achievements and scholarships (big win when you’re in college).Focus on something light, that is appropriate for your age group, that could potentially get your dad involved (like going to games/meets) and you could very well get him to agree.

I'm 14 years old and I am a male. What should my workout regimen be?

Intro:Your going to need more than just a 6 pack and big muscles or the rest of you will look very strange my friend. You want a sculpted physique I guess? Before the Regime remember that Diet & Nutrition are just as important as exercise and make the whole process faster and easier. Also know that your body is a weight to lift in itself and will give you the most natural figure. By the way; I am assuming you've already cut-out-the-crap or this is all pointless. 3 Square meals a day, high in protein, magnesium, loads of greens, fruit is your new sweets so only for afters. Just have carbs before and after running so that you don't feel weird. Your Regime:Jogging 2 miles,         3 times a week   e.g Monday, Wednesday, Friday  ( Only takes 15 -25 mins)50 Star-jumps, 50 Sit-ups, 50 press-ups 3 times a week e.g mite as well do it on the same 3 days probably reserve a half our per 50 whatevers here. End of Regime. If you are doing all this, bearing the first bit in mind you should look great within a month. Yoga is good to, do some yoga :)
