18 Arrested For Shoplifting In Walmart Nj

What is it like to get caught shoplifting at Walmart?

The loss prevention person will stop you as you try to leave and escort you into the security room. If you try to flee or resist you will have aditional charges added when the police arrive and they are usually already on the way. If you have fled the scene the officers will be given your description and they will hunt for you.Wal Mart's policy is to prosecute. If they choose not to prosecute it will be an exception to the rule. While you are sitting in the security room the loss prevention person will be sorting and photographing the property, preparing their police report and copying the video for the police. They will take your picture, issue you a trespass warning for all Wal Marts, meaning that you will be arrested if you return to that store or any Wal Mart.In many states you will be issued a legal notice that you owe the store 2 or 3 hundred dollars in a civil penalty to cover their cost. Then you will be turned over to the custody of the police officer. The police offficer determines if you are eligible for being issued a court date and a notice to appear or if you get the full ride to jail.If you are a juvenile the police will either have you call your parents to come pick you up (imagine having to explain yourself on the phone) or they will transport you to the juvenile processing center. The arrrest becomes a permanent part of your history.Wal Mart is vigorous about catching and prosecuting.

Caught shoplifting from Walmart?

Around the end of June 2010 or so, a friend of mine was caught shoplifting from a local Walmart. She is 17, and she was stealing a few makeup products, such as eyelinear and blush. She believes that the total cost of the items she was attempting to steal was around $40.00 or so. As she was exiting the store, the Loss Prevention guy confronted her, and guided her torwards his office. The cops were there, but only to take her to the station to be picked up by her parents, for they could not reach the store at that time. The police did not press charges, or do anything similar, etc. The Loss Prevention man simply took down her address, phone number, name, etc. (not SSN or anything major) and said that the store was not pressing charges, but that she would be receiving a notice/fine in the mail in the sum of $150.00 to be payed to Walmart through the firm that was to issue the fine or "civil restitution?" NOTE: This event occured in the state of New Jersey, if that helps :)

Anyway, my friend just received said letter in the mail yesterday, but her parents do not want to pay it. They plan to have her write a letter back to the firm demanding evdience, circumstances, etc. basically, working the flawed system we have in our country. What happens if she does this, or does not pay the fine? Also, will this be on her record forever, until she is 18, or neitehr of the above? Will this affect her chances into getting into a good college, because she is a smart, great girl who just made a mistake she will never make again. Can she find a part-time job with this on her slate? Any additional information you can provide will be very much appreciated :)

Will i get fined from walmart for shoplifting?

Just hope that the cops will give you a break, because if turn in or file documents with the prosecutor ,then yes, you will be prosecuted for it(yes, you will get something the mail). Depending on the state you are in, this may be a crime and if convicted, you may then may be deported.

What you did was bad, don't do it no more. There is no excuse so DON'T give us that " if you are a student and need money you do what you can."

You get a JOB when you need money...that's what you DO!!!

You keep working hard, that's what you do if you are fortunate enough to be in college in the U.S.
NOT making stupid decisions that will get you in treble.

Don't ever think about selling your body for money either!!!

I recently got caught shoplifting from walmart?

So 4 weeks ago i got caught shoplifting at Walmart. I was stealing an iPhone case and was approached to after I left the store. I'm 18 and the guy let me go without calling the police but he recorded my social security number, license, and address and put me into walmarts system. He also Told me that I was going to receive a 150$ fine from Walmart with 2-4 weeks and if I don't pay this fine within 10 days or something like that a search warrant would be sent out for my arrest. Now it's been exactly 4 weeks and I haven't gotten this letter. I called walmart but the manager who caught me is not there and might be on vacation so i dont know what to do.I can't afford to have a search warrant sent out for my arrest cause that would be the end of me. What should I do???
And I live in New Jersey btw. Thanks

I got caught shoplifting at Kohl's?

I'm 18, got caught shoplifting at Kohl's in NJ today. This is my first time getting caught for anything like this. (Keyword: getting caught). I wouldn't believe anyone that says they've never ever shoplifted before, so I'll be honest with you all.

Anyways, I walked out the door with an unpurchased ring. Retail $18, on sale for $12. I could've paid for it, but I didn't... I know.. sigh. Being cheap about a mother's day gift. So I surrendered it, and was taken back to Loss Prevention. Signed 2 papers (one agreeing to be banned from all Kohl's, and the second I believe agreeing to having a penalty fined and mailed to me). My picture was taken to be sent to all Kohl's district. That's it, and they let me go. No cops or anything else.

Does anybody know how much they would fine me for it? I lost my job 3 weeks ago and have no money really, and just finished out and ended college as a freshman because we can't afford to pay for me.. it's too much of a stretch of money that we just don't have unfortunately..

What is the penalty for stealing alcohol under age 21 in Tennessee?

Your number one priority is your parents not finding out?????? Seems like it would be much more important at this point to find a good lawyer to advise you on how to get the charges reduced or to get pretrial diversion. Stop crying and start calling some attorneys. It is going to cost you, but you need representation. And that probably means telling mommy and daddy you were arrested.

By the way, where did you find alcohol in a Wal-Mart in the State of Tennessee? You can't even buy a bottle of wine in a grocery in this state.

And please don't report me as "being rude". I'm just trying to get you to realize you are in serious trouble, and your parents are the least of your worries right now. You have to face the court system and possibly your university as well.

How long will a warrant for petty theft stay active before the courts just drop the entire thing?

Forever. Not the answer you wanted, I expect. Most courts and law enforcement agencies have files full of old arrest warrants, waiting to be served. Minor offenses like unpaid traffic tickets and petty theft don’t merit assigning a cop or two to go out, locate the person, and physically serve the warrant (although this does happen now and then), so the warrants sit in file against the day that a cop will run across the person named in the warrant. Then, surprise, you’re going to jail.Once in a while, a judge will issue an order to recall all misdemeanor warrants that are more than X years old (the “X” is usually double digits), but this is the exception, not the rule. The medium-sized city police department I worked for in the 1980s had well over 40,000 active misdemeanor warrants in file, most for unpaid traffic tickets.I once served a misdemeanor warrant that was over ten years old. The original violation was a ticket written by an animal control officer for an unrestrained dog. The dog’s owner foolishly blew off the animal control officer, who had retired but was still in the area and appeared to testify on the ticket. So, if you’re waiting until “the courts just drop the entire thing,” don’t hold your breath. You will be looking over your shoulder until the warrant is served, and its presence will likely follow you around and cause you to trip up on background checks and driver license renewals. It would have been a much better plan to just not commit the theft.Edit: I just saw the comment to the question. There is virtually no way to clear up the warrant from out of state. The court will almost certainly require an in-person appearance, and Walmart is known to be completely without mercy in these matters. Your cousin should also keep in mind that a theft arrest at Walmart generally means being banned from all Walmart properties. That means, if they want to get persnickety about it, he can be charged with trespassing if he goes into a Walmart anywhere in the country.
