1969 Mustang Restoration

How much would it Cost to Restore an old mustang 1970's?

Well let me just say i'm young (19) and for some reason i just love older cars. I want to buy a mustang from the late fox body era but my dream is being able to drive a fully restored mustang (Or a Skyline converted to right hand drive ^_^). I've seen a nice older mustang near a gar station and it looks in decent condition but i know it will need some restoration. It looks like it's from the early 1970's period. I know these mustang are rare and desirable and i just want to know how much might it cost to FULLY restore one of these old cars. Keep in mind i know NOTHING about cars so don't get all technical with me. And i also know a great trustworthy mechanic who has been my family's mechanic since my great grand father. So how much will it be to fully restore a 1970's mustang? Just looking for opinionated answers nothing specific. Like give me a range of a price

How much does it cost on average to restore a ‘67 Mustang?

There is really no ‘average’ cost. It depends on the condition of the car you start with. If the car is a nice complete driver to start with, 20 to 30K will give you a nice car. If the car is ‘rough but restorable’ $60,000 might do it.

How much does it cost to restore a 1969 mustang?

a proper restoration will cost you $20k-30k

Mustang 69 Mach 1 Restoration?

you can do a custom modern interior in an old mustang, it's not completely unheard of but it would mean a lot of custom fabrication work to make it fit/work.

There are many websites to get mustang parts from

HOWEVER there is no such thing as an "average cost" when restoring a classic car.The price of the restoration can vary wildly depending on things like what you paid for the car, what condition it's in, what you plan to do to it, how much work you can do yourself versus paying someone, and how much money you have/you are willing to spend, etc, etc

1967 Ford Mustang MPG'S?

A test of a 1969 Ford Maverick with an automatic and 200 cubic-inch 6 cylinder found that this combo was good for 20-23 mpg. the maverick is roughly the same size as a Mustang, so 23 is within the realm of possibility.

A good tuneup, low restriction exhaust and radial tires (less rolling resistance than bias-ply) will further enhance your chances of hitting the target.

How rare is a mustang fastback?

Not rare at all if you're referring to a Ford Mustang Mach One.

Non restored but running you can get for 2-3 thousand. They look nice but they weren't made well. I usually hear them described as being "a lemon."

Help with 1970 Mustang?

What engine? What stock configuration(4 barrel, 2 barrel)? What trans?
If it's a straight 6 engine then you are going to want a 302(5.0L) or bigger engine like a 351W, 351C, or 429. Any of those engines came in your car in some variation. If you have an automatic and it's a C4 or C6 then you have a great trans that can hold up well to performance. If you have a 4 speed manual then it's also going to hold up well. A 3 speed manual will not be your best trans for high HP.
Be careful not to dump too much money into that car. Remember it's a just coupe, not a fastback or convertible so it's the most undesirable body style you can have for a Mustang. Also, 1969/70 and 1971-73 Mustangs don't look quite right in the coupe body so the resale price will be very limited. Lots of people that have fastbacks or convertibles that need a total restoration will often buy coupes simply for the parts.

How much would it cost to repair/fix up a 1967-1969 Mustang Coupe if it was intact but with a rusted body?

I’m going to assume that by ‘intact’ you mean that all the original parts are there and the car is in good running condition. If that is the case, then you’d be smarter to use that car as a donor car and find a coupe that has zero rust (hint: hunt in the southwest). Then use the parts from the rusted car on the rust free shell. For a car as common as a Mustang Coupe that were manufactured in the millions, there are still plenty of rust free examples out there. Be patient and find a car without rust as a starting point and your build will go easier and your overall project will be far less expensive. You’ll save headaches and your end product will be far better as it will have it’s original sheet metal. If you were talking about a rare example of a Mustang, or any rare car for that matter, then it becomes more about the value of the car when completed to justify the added expense that rust repair requires.Bottom line: rust is expensive and time consuming so it’s rarely worth the trouble in a common car.Be patient and find the right candidate - they’re out there when it comes to Mustang coupes for those years. Good luck!
