2.16 Ghz Better Than 1.6 Ghz Right

What is faster, 3.40 GHz, 4 GB RAM or 2.40 GHz, 8 GB RAM?

If all variables are the same across the two setups, then the first system will be faster. The CPU simply decodes and executes the instructions it retrieves from the cache and the RAM. Nowhere does the amount of RAM affect the speed of the CPU.If the caches are different sizes, the number of cores is different, or another factor is out of alignment, then two CPUs with the same clock speed will not actually perform at the same speed.CPUs with faster clock speeds, larger caches, and more cores will always perform better than CPUs with slower clock speeds, smaller caches, and fewer cores.RAM, on the other hand, does not have a gold standard. The amount of RAM you need depends solely on the programs you are running. More RAM is necessary only if you’re currently meeting or exceeding your current capacity. Here’s my suggestion:If you need raw performance (for tasks like compiling videos), opt for the faster processor. If you need endurance from your computer, choose the option with more RAM. This will allow you to easily swap between running programs, permitting a more fluid experience. However, you don’t need to choose one or the other. If you plan to upgrade your system later, I recommend first purchasing the faster processor. Subsequently, you can upgrade your RAM without spending an exorbitant quantum of money.

What is the difference between a 1.7 GHz and a 2.40GHz CPU?

You need to consider two things: do you want to buy a machine, or are you building your own, or kinda upgrading the existing one? If you’re just buying a machine, then it’s pretty simple. This question has been answered Uday Parikh previously before, right here, so I’ll just echo the same idea posted. Ghz is more like the unit of measuring clock speed of a processor, which is the rate of task execution. This is measured in cycles per second.1.7 Ghz therefore executes 1.7 billion cycles per second, while 2.4 does that number per second. Given the difference, 2.4 ghz is the better performance processor due to its higher capacity per second. It will be pricier though. When building your own, a lot has to be put into consideration. There are disadvantages associated with the faster processors: Heat being one of them; Faster processors generate more heat and require more aggressive cooling measures than slower processors do.Look this website up for more insight:Disadvantage of a Faster ProcessorHope that helps

How how much is the difference between GHZ? Example, 1.6 ghz to 2.66ghz?

Depends on the processor. Newer processors have newer technologies which make the CPU do more work per cycle (or hurtz, or GHz). In other words, processors these days are a lot more efficient now. Long story short, any Core i7 will outperform any Core 2 Duo, regardless of clock speed (GHz). Honestly, GHz should only be used to compare similar model of processor (such as comparing a Core 2 Duo to another Core 2 Duo). You can't (accurately) compare two different models of processor (such as the Core 2 Duo and Core i7) because the new technologies affect how much work is done per GHz.

If you were to upgrade, the performance increase would depend on the tasks you do. If you just browse the web, check email, type documents, or other simple tasks, you hardly notice any difference. However, if you are gaming, video/graphic editing/converting, heavy multi-tasking, or other high-performance tasks, then the performance difference would be obvious. The best things to upgrade if you want a performance increase (regardless of what tasks you do) are your RAM and your hard drive.

I didn't see your last detail about you being a graphics student...

If you are graphic design student, then a good thing to look out for is the video/graphics processor (aka video/graphics card, or GPU). Because this a whole new subject, and I'm too lazy to type up an essay about it, just get the Macbook Pro. MacBook Pros come with a faster GPU than most name-brand manufactured computers, which will definitely help in your line of work. With the Macbook, you should notice a rather significant increase in performance over your current computer, especially in graphics design.

Is 1.6 GHz slow for a laptop?

No it is not slow, I am running a 1.6ghz laptop and it runs very fast, but if you over do it and try and make it be like a 3.0ghz (overloading it with programmes and trying to run extreme games, you may start to notice it going slower)

Is the i5 2467M 1.6 GHz good for gaming?

Not very good, but good enough.

The M11x uses a low power Intel CPU instead of a normal one, the same one as all those Macbook Airs and "Ultrabooks" like the Samsung series 9. I think it'll be fine for Black Ops and MW3, but it will not fare well with GTA IV, and Minecraft may struggle a little bit (although it should be good enough).

Look for something with a real i3 CPU and an actual GPU.

I always reccomend this one to people. It has good graphics and a far better CPU, and doesn't look like an alien hovercraft when you use it.
