2 Year Old Daughter Is Sick

2 1/2 year old daughter running 101.8 fever should i take her in or could it be from teeth? she looks sick?

Doubt it would be from teething. My 2 year old gets a flu with fever every month... touches everything and puts it to his face when we are out. Pretty much nothing the dr can do other then tell you to keep the temp down (Tylenol, etc) and keep fluids up. I give my son Gatorade when he is sick.. it helps rehydrate and has electrolytes (like Pedialyte has.. but my son hates Pedialyte). Sometimes he'll have a fever for a few days... but there's probably nothing a dr is going to do except tell you the obvious, slap you with a bill, and send you home and you're no better off. I'd just wait it out at home personally.. if YOU think your daughter needs to go it you probably know best and should take her in.

Good idea Halo Mom.. I do that too when the temp is that high because it'll take the Tylenol about 45 minutes to start taking it down.

My mom would always try to make the flu fun.. I had 2 brothers and 2 sisters so there would usually be a couple of us sick at the same time. She would set up beds on the living room floor and buy a bunch of different flavors of Gatorade and popcicles. Chicken noodle soup every few hours and crackers next to us all the time. Wet washclothes for heads that she changed non stop. Ya.. as fun as the flu could be. Now I get sick and really miss the fuss :)

*Regards your update. I don't know about the white spots on back of her throat (I never even look at my 2 year old throat when he's sick).. call your pediatrician about it. Flu usually does set on that fast. I know that's how my son was with the last 2 flus.. ate breakfast really good then about an hour later he was throwing up and had a fever.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter is always sick...?

Can I please suggest that you get her checked for coeliacs (pronounced sillyiac) disease. It is an allergy to wheat, gluten and their derrivatives, like dextrose and maltodextrin and starch.

My daughter had the same symptoms for the longest time and we were so damn worried, we had the blood test and it came up positive. Within a few weeks of taking wheat and gluten from her diet, her immunity was like that of a normal child.

It also turned out that I had coeliacs disease... which explained alot.

Seriously worth getting it checked out!

My 5 years old daughter is terrified that her heart is sick, how to convince her that she is healthy?

Tell you child's doctor about her fear. Your doctor will work with you to convince her that all is well. Perhaps he can make her a little certificate that says so. I would delve into what made her start to think about that issue. It is really an uncommon worry unless something has happened around her. Let you pediatrician help you with this. As an aside I still remember my thinking about my heart as a five or six year old. In some lesson we saw an illustration of a human heart. I guess showing us that convinced us that it was a muscle and we were to get lots of exercise to keep it strong. I remember thinking, MY heart does not look like that. MY heart is like a big, red Valentine with white lace all around. I was a sweet child and I guess now maybe I think I have grown a heart of gold over my 68 years ❤️!

My 2 year old daughter hasn't pooped in 3 days. What can I do or give her to help her poop?

She needs lots of water to drink. Also fruits and their juices that naturally have sorbitol are good because it's a natural laxative like apple, prune, pear.

You also need to make sure she isn't holding in her poop on purpose. Potty training kids will often do this. So will toddlers who have had a painful bowel movement. Help her see that it's good to go poop. I'd have to remind my kids all the time that pooping would help their tummy feel better, and that pooping was good for their body.

If she continues to not poop then you've got to take her to the doctor. The doctor may recommend miralax or an enema. Or, there could be a blockage.

Good luck! More info on toddler constipation at: http://www.toddler-tips-and-tricks.com/c...

My 2 year old ate some rolaids?

thanks corina, I'm just trying to see if it is serious enough to see the pediatrician. I'm sure you could answer just about every question on here that way. I'm sure the pediatrician gets tired of nervous parents calling them for every little thing. yes, eating medicine is serious and if it was a prescription or something like tylenol pm or nyquil I'd be in the office by now but after reading the ingredients, I figured I should ask before troubling a busy doctor

Can I give my 2/1 year old cough drops?

Are you kidding me? He could choke.

A mixture of a little honey and luke warm water is a good throat calmer. He will like the sweet taste.

Is it appropriate to give my 22 year old son a bath when he's sick?

Original question: Is it appropriate to give my 22 year old son a bath when he's sick? Are we talking about a normal, healthy 22 year old here? Or one that is mentally and perhaps physically disabled? If the first he should be more than old enough to do it himself. But if he’s sick enough that he should not be on his own.. (and he still desperately need a bath).. I’d want him to consent first or the circumstances be such that the bath was needed and more important than the consent. Perhaps I’d want him to wear swimming trunks or he’d feel more comfortable with swimming trunks. .. But the consent is quite important essentially. If he’s mentally a young child however then physical age is of less relevance. If he does need help.. that’s all there is to it (as the 22 year old would be a child in the body of an adult essentially). If there are physical disabilities or limitations+ and the son needs help.. then its something else again. I’d still want consent (unless he or she was also a young child mentally) but otherwise..A 22 year old is more than old enough to bath themselves if need be (and are also more than old enough to ask for help if they feel they need it). If there are circumstances or disability that makes it so they can’t.. well. Then its only natural that someone helps him.. even if that someone is the parent. Do keep in mind that if they are able to ask or consent to it happening.. then its their decision even if you yourself want them to do something (or not). And the swimming trunks is still a quite good idea (its one thing to help a young child/baby with washing/cleaning their private part.. its something completely different to help clean the private parts of someone that are fully/partially capable of doing so themselves.. even if they are ill at the moment.. never the less if they want help cleaning their body or help having a bath at all).
