How to adjust a Clutch on a ford ranger?

Ok when you had the clutch replaced did the shop call you about the clutch slave cylinder. If it has the internal type slave cylinder it needs to be replaced when the clutch is replaced. If it has the external slave cylinder then you are ok and you can bleed the system.

On the side of the transmisson (drivers side)there will be a slave cylinder. The clutch master cylinder is mounted next to the brake master cylinder on the firewall. The clutch master is black ,it has a cap that you can unscrew(black also)you can add brake fluid to it.Take off the cap,now follow the line that is screwed into the master, down to the side of the transmission, down there will be a (if external) a football shaped cylinder,it will have a place to bleed it.Open up the bleeder and let the fluid drip, keeping an eye on the master on top full of brake fluid. You can also get a fluid type suringe to push the fluid down the line forcing the fluid down to the slave, which will get ride of any air in the system.

Now down where the brake and the clutch pedals are, there is a shaft coming from the clutch master to the cluctch pedal. The shaft will not have any adjustment on it,so there is no adjustment, its all done by the hydralic master and slave. You want to make sure when you push the pedal down the shaft goes in all the way, sometimes the shaft will come loose at the pedal.

If you are having a hard time getting it into gear it might still have air in the system. This system is very hard to get the air out of.Sometimes what you can do is,with the engine off,put the truck in first gear, with the clutch pedal down start the engine, make sure no one is in front of the truck, because it could take off on you,if that happens just go for a short ride with it in first gear. After a little ways try shifting it into second gear and go for a little ways. Now push the pedal down and stop the truck.Turn off the engine, with no one in front of you with the clutch pedal down, and the shifter out of gear,re start the engine, and try to put it into first gear again.WHAT HAPPENS does it going to gear ok,or is it still hard into gear ??????

you can email me for more info I would like to know if you have the internal slave cylinder.

you use brake for the clutch master and slave cylinders NOT oil of any kind.

What are reasons your steering wheel won't lock?

I assume that you are referring to your steering wheel not locking in position after you stop the vehicle and take out the key? There are several possible reasons for this.1. The cog that fits into the detent on the steering column is broken and needs to be replaced.2. The detent on the steering column is worn or broken3. You have not turned the wheel far enough for the cog to find a detent. Pull the wheel first to the left, and then to the right to find the spot.4. The actuator from the solenoid to the cog is broken. To repair this will require the cover on the steering column to be removed, and probably need to have the steering wheel removed as well. Take it to a qualified shop or dealer for this. Incorrect actions could result in damage to the parts, or even the deployment of the air bag on the steering wheel. The exact disassembly required will differ for each manufacturer and possible model of vehicle. If you have a Chilton's manual for your vehicle, you can look up the repair to see what is involve.

Why does the steering wheel lock up while driving?

What Causes the Steering Wheel to Lock Up? | eHow Losing control of your car's steering is a terrifying experience, one that can lead to a crash with horrific consequences. If this happens to you, then you must try to bring your vehicle to a stop at once and determine the cause of steering wheel lock-up before you drive your car again. There are a number of reasons why your car's steering has suddenly locked up including:Key MechanismNot every steering wheel problem occurs when you have the transmission engaged and are heading down the road. Sometimes, drivers report that their steering wheel stays locked even after inserting the key into the ignition. When that happens, the car probably cannot be started let alone driven. More than likely the key assembly has worn out and needs to be replaced. However, before calling your auto mechanic, try to move the wheels to the left and to the right as sometimes the steering column "catches," a problem that can be resolved if you jiggle the wheel.Lock PinGeneral Motors issued a pair of recalls for the C5 Chevrolet Corvette (1997-2004 models) due to problems with locked steering. In addition to being locked while starting, owners complained that in some cases their cars could be driven but with no control of steering. This problem is due to a lock pin that fails to withdraw fully, allowing contact between the pin and lock plate. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA ) website (see Resources) for information about recalls #04006B and #04006C or call your Chevrolet dealer.ConclusionWhile the three causes mentioned here are among the top reasons why a steering wheel may lock up, there could be other reasons. Contact an auto mechanic for assistance, or if you are handy with repairs, consult a Haynes or Chilton repair manual (or anything similar) for guidance.

Why does my car jerk slightly when shifting into reverse?

all automatics do this. Regardless of gear the magnitude, the jerk is a function of drivetrain and suspension slop, clutch pressure and condition, clutch engagement setting, transmission fluid properties, idle speed. If the jerk is extreme and changes engine RPM by more than 100RPM, you certainly have a problem. beware, it’s easy to get either ripped off or spend heavily. Start by checking idle speed, then inspecting/changing fluid, then inspecting suspension. then check the transmission and drivetrain for slop, wear, damage, starting at a driveshaft shop.Your low mileage car could suffer from the hands of an abusive and jerky driver, a driver who spent long hours shearing transmission fluid stopped in traffic, or a transmission defect.Without mechanical service, you can reduce the jerk by not stepping on the brake as you change gears, and shifting to neutral every time you must idle for more than 20 seconds.

What are some symptoms of a bad idle air control sensor?

Idle air control valves open to allow more air to "leak" into the intake, raising the engine rpms, or close when not needed. When your AC compressor kicks in or power steering is activated as you suddenly turn the steering wheel, the sudden drag on the drive belt will bog down the engine. These systems send a signal to the engine computer telling it they are active and it then signals the IAC valve to open, which increases the engine speed. Without this occurring,  the engine could struggle, or die. The IAC valve can cause weird idle issues, mess with throttle functionality or cause the car to die. Sometimes they fail, get stuck or just get all carboned up. Sometimes people have success at cleaning them, but generally it is best to replace them when bad. Idle issues and even problems with the IAC valve may not be due to the IAC valve being bad itself. An idle issue does not mean the IAC valve is bad. It is best to pay close attention to how the vehicle is acting, and then communicate that clearly and as completely as possible to your mechanic. Intermittent problems can be very hard to diagnose. Details will help. Knowing more about the vehicle in question and its symptoms (in detail) will also help in understanding more about what it is doing.

What are the symptoms of a bad transmission speed sensor?

On some vehicles, there are sensors that function specifically for certain parts of the vehicle. Sometimes a bad speed sensor will mess up the function of the ABS brakes (causing them to overreact or not kick in at all, which usually creates a light on the dash), other times it can cause erratic speedometer readings and/or (for auto transmissions) cause inconsistent shifts and it shifting completely out of gear into neutral at random. Some vehicles it will do all of these things at once, but you should get a CEL (check engine light) or ABS light to show up on the dash if one of these things are becoming problematic enough to cause issues.

Why won't my car start after fixing a broken serpentine belt?

Ok so first question is the starter rotating the motor like it should and it just wont start or are you turning the key without getting any results. If its not turning over id first off hit the starter solenoid with a soft hammer a few good raps may dislodge a stuck solenoid. Now if the motor is spinning but not firing up my first place id look is the distributor wiring unless it runs coil packs then i would guess that you knocked the wires off the crank sensor or maybe even broke the crank sensor. I am at a disability here not knowing what the vehicle make is., if it died while driving because belt fell off and you ran on battery till it ran out of power. ( a jump start is the ticket in that case ) Honestly im going with the crank sensor or crankshaft position sensor.being the root of your problem because if the belt broke it could easily take out the sensor as belt flew around the front of the motor. But check all your connections and research the crank sensor ..its usually a cheap and easy part to replace if its in a area where belt passes by it that makes sense as to your problem. Ok let me know a bit more info if possible. Dont give up the answer will come

What are some symptoms of bad tie rods?

The biggest symptom of bad tie rods is irregular tire wear on your front tires.  The problem is there are other causes of tire wear.  If your tie rods are extremely bad you will feel it in the steering wheel when driving, your car will feel really loose and hard to control.  If your tie rods are bad enough that you can feel it when driving you need to get that car off the road.  My suggestion is if you have any abnormal tire wear you should take your car to a qualified mechanic for a suspension check and get an alignment if everything checks out.  However if you want to save yourself some money you can check them your self.  The first thing you need to do is jack up the front end of your vehicle so that both tires are off the ground.  Then start on one side (you'll do both sides) grab the tire at the 3 and 9 o'clock position and shake you tire back and forth.  The tire will move but if it moves very easy then gets a little harder to move you most likely have a loose tie rod.  After shaking the tire if you suspect a loose tie rod have some one else shake the tire while you look and what part has excessive movement.  Short of a bad idler arm any visible play in your suspension parts means you will need to replace them.  If you have any farther questions I suggest you look it on You Tube.
