2003 Vw Jetta High Beams Not Working

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.

Low beam headlights are very dim, High beams work great?

I just added a new wiring harness. I had it working great for a while, then i got new bulbs. I cut down the wires so I wouldn't have a lot of free wires going everywhere and their about 3-4 inches long going from the headlight housing to the socket. Now my low beams are very dim and my high beams work good still. The headlights were working fine before I cut them down. I attached them just like I did before so that isn't the problem. Would cutting the wires too short, cause the low beams to be very dim and have the high beam light always stay on in the instrument panel? Car is a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier with a 9007 headlight socket...

95 VW Jetta III, Dash lights not working?

I have checked the fuses and all seem OK. We just bought the car and I have not a clue what modifications, if any, the previous owner may have done. There is an aftermarket stereo in it.

Headlamps/high beams work, dome light works, vanity mirror lights work, turn signals, and hazards all work. Stereo light and cigarette lighter work as well. Just not around the temp controllers, gear shifter and the dash where the speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and tachometer are.

I thought maybe it was a relay, but if that were the case, wouldn't more of the electrical be not working? I also thought about bulbs but, it isn't isolated to that one area....

Suggestion please.

If you drive long enough with a flashing check engine light, what can happen?

The flashing CEL is indicative of a severe condition. In particular it can mean the introduction of unburned fuel into the exhaust stream ...which can lead to catastrophic failure of the catalytic converter (the word *BOOM* comes to mind).I suppose it never occurred to you to look in the owners manual to see what, specifically, the flashing CEL means with regard to your vehicle. In most cases it means quit driving the car, there is something seriously wrong that can cause serious problems and you need to get the car looked at ASAP.Or, you can be the poster person for the "Ignorance Is Bliss" society and keep driving your car ...until it's not ...."bliss" that is.

What does the green light warning light mean?

It indicates that the "day-time running lights" are on. Basically, your headlights are on whenever the car is being driven.
Check it out by parking in front of a wall, and seeing when the headlights come on. With some cars, it's as soon as you start it, With others, it's only after you put it in Drive. Notice that the "running lights" are dimmer that the regular High Beams.

One of my headlights is brighter than the other. What's wrong?

Is the bulb dim, or is the headlight assembly discolored, and the light not shining through? That car uses a plastic headlight assembly. If the problem is with the assembly, you can try one of the headlight cleaner kits, or you can use car was and a buffer to clean it!

If there is moisture or discoloration on the inside of the assembly, you will need to have the headlight assembly replaced!
