2004 Mazda 6 Catalytic Converter Stolen Question

What is the most expensive catalytic converter?

Probably those used in the petrochemical industry.Over the years, catalytic “crackers” have been used in the gasoline refining business to more efficiently produce gasoline than simple distilation could produce. Having worked in the petrochemical business, I'm aware that large quantities of precious metals are used in the processing of billions of gallons of gasoline. Fortunately, these “crackers” don't sacrifice their chemical properties as they react in the process. But, their value as raw metals is recognized, and protected.

If I took off the catalytic converter, will it make my fuel get better mileage?

Don't listen to the naysayers. A engine is a pump, anything you do to increase pump efficiency, is going to increase gas mileage. A new cat will not rais fuel consumption much, But if it has over 100,000 miles on it, You will see a marked increase or “restoration” of gas milage. This is especially true of cars with a secondary air pump. They are not exactly filtering the air, before its pumped into you exhaust. This is what gets fun. If you reprogram, or modify the O2 sensors signal to bring the engine to stylometric fuel ratio or just less, you will get a 5–10% increase in gas milage. This trick really shines in stop and go traffic. If you analyse the wave form of the upstream O2 sensors, you will notice it spends a lot more time rich, than lean. You are sitting at red lights feeding that Fat Cat, so it can make more smoke. All cars are set up to fuel that catalytic convert. This keeps them hot and working. Without extra fuel pumped thru the engine, that cat has nothing to do, cools down, and slowly plugs up. To bad your cat will plug up if you lean out the engine. Hint, Hint……….

What's the difference between Tiptronic and automatic transmissions?

A Tiptronic transmission is an automatic transmission that includes an option to switch out of automatic mode and upshift or downshift by using paddles behind the steering wheel or by using the gear lever itself. The name Tiptronic is a registered trademark that is owned by car manufacturer Porsche. In Tiptronic, manual shifting is controlled through buttons with a plus sign for up-shifting and a minus sign for down-shifting. This is similar to what many sports cars use in order to give an authentic feel. While the first system was originally produced by Porsche, later systems have adopted similar technology, with the same name.Tiptronic systems allow drivers to choose whether they want to drive automatic, where the computer does gear shifting or manual mode where the driver has the opportunity to change the gear. Other systems have tried to emulate the feel of manual without giving you full control, but the Tiptronic transmission is the first device that offers a choice. The system has safeguards in place that keep drivers from going past the RPM red line when operating under manual control. If drivers fail to use manual shifting for a certain amount of time with Tiptronic, the software on the transmission automatically switches back to automatic and controls all shifts through the computer once again. It is then necessary to turn it on again to go back to manual. The Tiptronic, is also known as manumatic transmission, so allows the user to shift gears without having to operate a clutch. The system has built-in safety features so that the transmission cannot be damaged in the event of driver error. The technology is licensed for use by other manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Audi, Seat, Skoda and Land Rover.

Which car is better between Toyota and Honda?

I drive a Honda and my wife a Toyota. So by owning both cars I have experienced both brands.I’ve been driving a honda city AT for almost 7 years and have never faced any challenge whatsoever with the car. The only major expenses include Two sets of tyres, Insurance And fuel. The car has done over 110k and still drives like a dream.Toyota on the other hand being twice as expensive feels like a premium car and is rock solid trouble free, worry free car. The biggest expense here was insurance. This one has done 25k and feels like We bought it yesterday. In terms of comfort Toyota is far superior than any car in the industry be it the driver or the passengers there is no match for Innova.Honda city on the other hand is superb in driving. It’s steering is so light that anyone can drive it with ease. There is no engine sound at idling. Super smooth ride and you reach in comfort to your destination. Long drives for the passengers is not as good as Innova though.Overall to sum up both are amazing brands super reliable, great resale value for both brands. Service cost is comparable to any car in the segment. To decide between one of the two is a difficult decision as both the brands are of amazing quality.
