2013 Nissan Sentra White Specks On Rear Bumber

How much does it cost to repaint scratched bumper?

I owned several auto repair and collision shops for over 30 years.Your vehicle most likely has a black trim that left the black mark on the Kia. The first thing I would do is buff out as much as possible to see if there are scratches at all. Many times when is a plastic bumper lightly sideswipes another plastic bumper usually,  there are no deep scratches. However, if the Kia goes to a body shop, here’s what could happen….The rear bumper has to be removed so that the clear coat wraps around the edge of the bumper and the quarter panel (rear fender). The bumper paint gets a flexible additive added to keep the paint from cracking when it is lightly impacted. so the bumper has to be painted separately from the quarter panel. That color is very tough to match so a blend on the quarter panel is going to be several inches in diameter then the entire panel will have to be clear coated to keep the clear from opening with the elements or detailing the vehicle. The cost will most certainly be between $800 and $1,000 depending what state the shop is in.Any shop that tells you that both panels have to be painted and would do that repair for a few hundred dollars, I recommend to all reading this, RUN. unless the shop gets their materials and workers for free and want to pass their savings on to you. There is no lack of butcher shops and you need to do your homework before you spend your money. If you went through your insurance, the way I would go about it is you call your company and ask “at what amount paid (by your insurance company) does it count as a claim against you?” Most companies have a $1,500 threshold,  anything above that and it counts as an incident and could raise your insurance rates. Make sure you get an estimate from her repair shop and if possible one of your choosing. Then you provide that picture with the estimates to your company so it will keep the shop honest and not take a hammer to the quarter panel to increase the repair cost. You can’t blame her if she wants the car repaired back to perfect condition because when it’s time to return it if it’s a lease or resell it or trade it in, a poor repair will certainly be noticed and will lower the vehicle’s value and if it’s a lease return, she will get a charge to re-repair it the right way.I hope this long answer helped.

What car brand do you prefer out of these three, Infiniti, Lexus, or BMW?

I have owned all 3 brands.Infiniti: If you don’t mind paying extra for an up-badged Nissan, go for it. I think Infiniti is basically the compromise between a BMW and a Lexus. I like the newer Q50 (aka “fancy Altima”). I owned a 2016 Q50 turbo awd…for 1 day. Gave the dealer $1000 to take it back (true story).Lexus: B-O-R-I-N-G. If you don’t mind boring, or if you are like my step-mother and actually prefer boring, Lexus will make you happy. I had a GS350. It was comfortable….BMW: If you don’t hate yourself and want to actually enjoy getting into your vehicle, get a BMW. I have owned an M Roadster, a 135i, and I now have a M235i.Costs to Maintain:Are BMWs more expensive to maintain? I don’t think so. Not anymore than the others. You go longer between oil changes on a BMW, but each oil change costs more. Kind of evens out in the end. Brakes cost more, but I had a 135i with 83k miles on the original brakes and they were in fantastic shape. Think Lexus will save you $? Ever had to pay to have a timing belt in a Lexus changed??? You will slap yourself when you get the bill. My step-mother had the fancy electronic soft-closing trunk feature of her Lexus fail. Repair bill = $1250 and 2 weeks in the shop.Overall, I vote BMW every time, with the following caveats: If you are injured or old or just really hate bumps or any type of road feedback, get a Lexus. Get a 2–3 year old BMW with less than 50k miles, drive it to maybe 90k, then sell it. Keep doing this over & over and you will have great cars and an enjoyable experience. If you just can’t decide and feel like you should settle on a car, like you probably settled on your spouse, get an Infiniti. Will it make your heart race like a BMW can? No. Will it bore you to tears like a Lexus? No. Will your friends wonder why you paid so much for a fancy Nissan? Yes. Hey, some people buy the cheap toilet paper to save a few pennies…those people probably also drive an Infiniti.

Why does the Nissan Xterra have a bump in the back of the car?

As Dan stated, its for the med kit that comes from the factory with the truck.

How much does it cost to fix a scratched bumper?

It really depends on the level of damage that has been done to the Base Coat (color layer) of the paint. It’s a Plastic Bumper… I’d clean it first, with soap & water, then probably use a polishing compound to remove any surface-scuff that has embedded into the clear-coat. Lightly sanding with some Scotch-Brite Pad to cut-down the clear-coat you’d be able to see if the Base Coat has been affected. Glazing Putty to fill any imperfections; prep sanding once dry, a few lite coats of matching color paint (masking-off, to prevent over-spray), more polishing, then clear-coat over the repaired area & blending with old paint surface.I would say 4 Hours of Labor/Waiting Time, $70 in Materials & an attention to detail is all it takes.Unfortunately, the vehicle owner will contact their insurance carrier & your Insurance Carrier will be made to pay whatever it is the Vehicle Owner Wants, regarding Repair, as it falls under Collision & You left an admission of guilt. Otherwise it would have fallen under Comprehensive Coverage & wouldn’t affect your Insurance Rates. When going through an Insurance Estimator, it could cost you anywhere from $500–$1200, instead of the Repair Cost I quoted above.

What are the buttons on the door handle of a car for?

Each of the other answers give a narrow view of one type of button, here is a list. The original button was introduced when car manufacturers decided to change from turn handles to fixed style handles to open the door latch. Then, before remote keyless entry, a few car builders gave the option of pushing a number code to unlock the door(s). In this picture, pressing the each button once entered the odd number, pressing it twice rapidly enters the even number listed on the button. The newest style is used on fully keyless (push button start) cars. This button is used to lock the car doors from the outside without removing the key fob from your pocket (or purse).Usually, I push the interior door lock button as I am getting out, rather than this button. However, if my wife leaves her purse in the car, the car will sense that a key fob is being left in the car and will attempt to prevent me from locking myself out of the car and will honk the horn twice and unlock the doors automatically. I must then stop and press this button to relock the car, it only works if the car senses my key fob outside the car. This saved me once, I had forgotten to put my key fob in my pocket and the car was operating because of my wife's fob, when we got to where we were going, she left her purse in the car; I could not lock the doors. Once I felt my pockets, I realized what my problem was and she took her purse with us to do the errands.

How can going over a curb damage a car?

There are variables to correctly answering your question; how fast were you going, how low a clearance does your car have, what the curb configuration was. In all respects if there is no damage underneath then you probably bottomed out your suspension and that created the noise. You should take the car to a repair shop and have it put on a lift to check the engine oil pan and transmission pan. If either are damaged I would recommend you replace them. If the pans are undamaged have the technician check the suspension and steering for any damage. You may have gotten lucky and there is no damage. Good luck.
