4 Month Ols Head Support

Does my 11month old daughter still need the head support cushion on her car seat?

she doesn't have to have one...and if your seat did not come with it than it should never have been used at all.....aftermarket headsupports are against seats manufacturers instructions....if it came with the seat it doesnt HAVE to be used...we took my youngest dd's out last month when she was 4 mths old.

If you are considering upgrading your daughters seats you should research extended rear facing....just because a child turns 1yr old and is 20lbs does not make them suddenly safe for forward facing. It has nothing to do with how well they hold their head up. It has to do with the spine not hardening until between the ages of 3-6yrs......until that time a child is 5x more likely to die from internal decapitation if they are turned forward facing.
The AAP now recommends keeping a child rfing til at least 2yrs AND 30lbs :)

4 month old way too advanced???

Okay I might be crazy..And this might sound crazy...But my 4 month old is too advanced to be 4 months...Ive been around ALOT of babies and mine is almost starting to scare me...She has literally been holding her head up since she was 2 weeks old...She is 4 months now and she is holding her bottle and CRAWLING...Is this normal...Im a first time parent but I have YEARS of babysitting under my belt and I have NEVER seen anything like this...She will have her 4 month check up next week...I cant wait until the doc sees this...

Why is it very important to support a newborn's head and neck?

It's because their head is very heavy to them and it's hard for them to support it themselves. The neck muscles are not strong enough for babies to support them themselves.

What is the average month for head control in babies?

Around 3 months old.I have conclude all about infant milestones in epic post from my blog. Take a lookHow To Care For A 4-7-month Baby, № 3 Will Make You Gasp

Should babies start crawling when they're 4 months old?

Four-months-old is very early for crawling. At that age infants should be having “tummy time” where they practice lifting their upper body up to strengthen themselves. They may pivot around some and they should be able to roll over.I can’t tell from your question if you are concerned that the baby is crawling way too early, or concerned that the baby is not crawling. The baby at that age should be active. That means trying to increase their strength with squirming, rolling and reaching. A four-month-old baby should not be lying listlessly merely waving their arms around randomly, but crawling is definitely not an expectation.

Can i put my 3 month old in a walker?

I have a old walker that was given to me and i put her in it to just see how it is and she can touch the floor but she sits up just fine. she has good head control....she holds her head up well so i was thinking of putting her in it sometimes because she is getting bored with just sitting in her seater and being in her swing...and lately i have been putting her on the floor and she loves that she moves all around and if u trun away for even 5 minutes she about a foot from where she started.....so with knowing all of this can she go in it or would that be to much strain on her body. her feet are ways from the floor cuz she is short so the only thing holding her up is the seat and its got a back to it for extra support....i just keep thinking that it would hurt her upper thigh and croch cuz thats what she is sitting on..i know that alot of people are saying to keep a baby this age a jumper roo or whatever it is and we are soon as we can get some extra money so will this be okay 4 now

When should I give my daughter a pillow? She's 16 months old and I put blankets under her head like a pillow at bedtime.

Colby, buy a smaller size of pillow for her. It will have smaller neck rolls on it and fit a child’s neck better. It will also prevent the head and neck going into a forward head posture.I don’t recommend a blanket - it could open up and cover her face up when you are not there. Here is an example of a small pillow that my 4 year old uses. Its is called the arc4life linear gravity pillow. Dimensions of this pillow are 20x15. He loves it so much he takes to his Nana’s house for sleeping over as well;Instagram post by Arc4Life • Mar 17, 2017 at 5:20pm UTCArc4life Linear Gravity Neck Support Pillow Small

How can you hold a 3-month-old baby?

At 3 months old they are quite sturdy and can even hold their neck up by themselves. They can't sit or roll by themselves yet, but they are quite resilient! The best way to hold them is by supporting their legs and bottom and letting them stand on your shoulder. Hold their back as needed. But you can also hold them under their arms facing you and they will be fine while they are interacting with you. Try to give some additional support to their feet, as, for instance, letting them stand up on your legs or lap.Try to hold them in a way that is comfortable for both of you. It might take some time to be proficient but you will sure find out what works for you and the baby.

Why do you need to hold a baby’s head?

The muscles in baby's neck are not very strong and his head is heavy. When he gets a little bigger, and a little stronger, he will learn to hold up his own head (around 4 months old). This is actually a very important developmental milestone.Until those muscles get stronger, he needs his head supported. One of the real dangers for tiny babies is that their necks can get damaged in terrible ways, like torn ligaments, nerve damage, or they can suffer bleeding and muscle injury (like whiplash).Shaken Baby Syndrome happens when a baby is shaken and her head jerks violently back and forth. That can cause internal bleeding, eye damage, brain damage, and death. This is why it's better for an angry or frustrated parent to put baby down in a safe place (like the crib) for a short 10–15 minute break as an alternative to shaking the baby.

Can a CT scan be harmful to a baby that is 6 months old?

OK my doctor prescribed a CT Scan for my 6 month old son because the back of his head is flat. He just really doesn't enjoy tummy time, as soon as hes on his tummy he rolls to his back. Hes a great baby, hardly ever cries, I hear that the "flat head" is normal with calm babys. They are saying that we may have to put a helmet on his head to "help" form his head depending on the CT scan. What could having a flat head do that could be harmful and is the CT scan safe, because the baby will be sedated and I hate to do that to my lil guy if its just a money racket of doctors wanting to charge my insurance?
