6 Teeth Being Extracted Help Me

Premolar and wisdom teeth extraction?

Extraction of premolars for orthodontic treatment affects females mostly and also males but not as badly. Your orthodontist is telling you it would not work if premolars were not removed because he does not know of any other way to treat. That should be a clear sign to find another orthodontist who can do non extraction treatment; they are out there and you need to seek them out. At 30 years old expansion can still be done but it will not be stable so a retainer at bedtime for life will be necessary. Whether you develop TMJ problems or not will be a gamble (50-50 chance). If I was in your shoes I would eliminate that whole possibility by refusing to have 4 perfectly good teeth pulled. Keep in mind that if you do develop TMJ, the treatment to fix it will be to reverse all that was done to your (reopening the extraction spaces and moving the front teeth back out where they should be and then advancing the lower jaw forward again. The only bright side is there is a slim chance that you may not have any TMJ problems after braces but do you want to take that gamble or go with the treatment that will not cause TMJ and protect the jaw joints? Google TMJ Disorders and see what that may do to you.

There's a hole in my cheek after my wisdom tooth extraction.?

I had my wisdom teeth pulled 6 days ago. All 4 were removed, and they were impacted. I still have trouble opening my mouth and I noticed today that there is a hole in my cheek on my bottom left side. This is where the most swelling was so I expected the wound to be worse, but this surprised me. It's not on my gum, but instead beside my teeth on my cheek area. There's little to no pain, so I can't imagine it would be a dry socket. I would compare it to a blister when I run my tongue over it. Please help me out. Thanks.

Getting my rare 6 WISDOM TEETH (instead of only 4) extracted with sedation?

Wow 6 wisdom teeth?? That's my first time to hear that!

Anyway, I only had two wisdom teeth and I needed to get them out asap since they were coming in crooked. I went through sedation because honestly I didn't want to sit there with them trying to remove my teeth and I would be able to remember all of it lol.

But all they do is set you up in a chair and I believe they take your blood pressure and pulse first. After, they actually poke a needle in your arm and honestly, all I remember was the room getting brighter and little blurry and I told them, "Woah I'm getting a little dizzy." and next thing you know I was down for the count lol. But I remember I woke up during the procedure very tired and everything was just a blur. They were doing something with my teeth and I could feel this small pain in my jaw, but it didn't really bother me at that moment, and eventually I was KOed again. When I woke up, I had gauze in my mouth, sitting in the chair and my mouth was really numb and I was feeling very sleepy still. They made me walk to this other room to lay down to rest and wait for my parents to help me out of the office.

So you're asking if it'll hurt? In my opinion, the only pain you'll feel is the after pain from the extraction once the numbness wears off. They'll give you painkillers to ease the pain

Will you feel a thing? Only the needle before they put you to sleep. Unless you end up like me, you wake up during the procedure and you feel some pain, but I think if you do wake up like that, the pain won't even bother you and you wouldn't even care at that moment.

You won't be at a large risk for dry socket unless you smoke or sip through straws after the extraction. If anything, you can ask the surgeons before the surgery. Hope I helped!

Is it normal for the teeth around my extracted tooth to hurt?

An extraction affects a large area of tissues. Pain afterwards in the general area is normal. There are a few causes of the pain.First, to remove the tooth from the bone requires some pressure on the tooth and surrounding bone. The bone will transfer the pressure to the surrounding tissues. This causes pain.Second, some pain is referred. That is, pain in one area causes the nerves to pass along the pain message to the surrounding or other areas.Third, it is very possible to put pressure on the surrounding teeth. This could be direct pressure on the teeth or pressure transmitted to the roots through the bone to the surrounding teeth.Last, it could be and probably is all of the above.

Is it possible to get dry socket 5 days after wisdom teeth extraction?

JUST A FAIR WARNING - do not I repeat DO NOT assume you have dry socket based on google searching and any photos you come across because they aren't accurateI ended up getting dry sockets in both bottom wisdom tooth sockets post having all 4 pulled at the same time. Now I didn't expect that I would even get dry socket because I didn't smoke nor drink with a straw and I followed the dentist's instructionsAnd let me tell you. Boy oh boy if you have dry socket OMG you will not have any doubt to see that dentist asap. An emergency pretty much. Worst freaking pain I have ever felt or been in next to having a kidney infection (many many years later)It's not like achy pain it's not like tooth pain it's , well I have no tolerance or didn't for any pain back then but trust me you will have no doubt unless you have that really rare disorder where your brain has a short and you cannot feel physical pain.I get a little overly worried anytime I have had to extract a bad tooth (hoping there aren't any more after 3 molars ) that I'm getting dry socket .But I'm fine and you will be too. It takes a little time to heal and the slight pain or ache comes and goes. Warm Salt water rinses and keeping your teeth and mouth and tongue clean will help - so will taking a lot of vitamin c.You can get some coconut oil regular or a kind that's ozonated and add a couple to a few drops of clove oil to a cotton swab (qtip) and place it over the area of extraction . Should help with any pain (it does for me )And if that doesn't do the trick you may have infection or dry socket and should make an appointment to see the dentist right away

What is causing my tooth pain 10 months after extraction?

What is causing my tooth pain?10 months ago I had a tooth extraction on upper right 4 in a tooth that had root canal (and crown). I had it removed because I’d had a painless self draining abscess in the gum for about 12 years post apicoectomy. When the crown popped off the dentist struggled for a long time to get the tooth out and there was a LOT of digging around. She was in training. Others were coming in during asking if she was SURE she didn’t need any help. One of them pointed out she was using the wrong tool at one point.I was in a lot pain in the week to follow especially when lying down at night (and they didn’t give me pain killers!).I now have a pain that started a few months ago (dentist thought it was because I didn’t have anything in the space at the time). It’s got a lot worse in the last couple of weeks and he xrayed it to check there are no pieces of bone left. He thinks the pain is coming from so much of the bone being removed. I am not sure he knew it was pain felt in the neighboring tooth. I didn’t realise myself until now and I am not sure that it hasn’t changed. It’s a sharp nerve pain, 6 or 7 / 10 (not the 10 out of 10 kind of pain with a direct connection with a nerve though) seemingly from the neighboring tooth or my sinus. Which has come on sometimes after eating, when flying and the plane changed pressure and yesterday it happened because I stood up! It may get better when putting pressure on the sinus at the side of the nose on that side or it may just be it would have stopped anyway. What do you think is causing this and should I be doing anything other that waiting for the bone to grow back?

Is swollen gums 6 days after wisdom teeth extraction normal?

Normally this wouldn't bother me, but it has been 6 days since the surgery and I have not worn my retainers. I attempted to put on my top one (both my retainers are clear/essix trays) with no difficulty and I can wear that one fine without discomfort. However, with the bottom one, I recieve immediate pain when it slides over my gums in the back right of my mouth. Bleeding always immediately follows. The weird part is that the blood appears to be coming from IN BETWEEN the last two teeth back there, not at the surgical site. Can someone please help me?

Holes/Caves where Wisdom teeth used to be...HELP!!?

I had my Wisdom teeth removed 6 days ago, and have followed what the Orthodontist has told me to do (even though it was relayed to my mom and was vague, but I read up what to do/expect)

Anyways, the stitching on both of my bottom teeth has now dissolved or come off, and when I look in the mirror I can see holes on both sides (probably more like caves since both were completely impacted). Is this normal to have or did the stitching loosen too early? There isn't really that much pain left and it is getting a bit better every day so I don't suspect they're dry sockets but it's unsettling to look at and the thought of getting food in them has made me eat everything completely different. I was just curious if these holes will heal over soon/at all or what will happen at this point? HELP! lol

Will smoking one cigarette very gently 6 hours after a tooth extraction guarantee a dry socket?

It goes against professional medical advice. That being said, No. It doesn't guarantee a dry socket but it increases your chances. I would also recommend NOT gargling/swishing with salt water until after 48 hours. This is because in the first few days after an extraction you have a blod clot formed that helps keep the extraction site clean and free of debris. If you simply MUST smoke place a piece of gauze/ paper towel, etc over your extraction site and then remove it again when you are done.

Pieces of bone coming up 6 months after wisdom tooth extraction?

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted back in April. The holes have been healing nicely so far. I noticed last week that I have what seems like a sliver of bone or tooth that has come up thru one of the extraction sites. It doesn't hurt at all but it is hard to leave it alone! Is this something that normally happens after a wisdom tooth extraction? I called the oral surgeon and he didn't seem concerned. He said I could let it work itself out on it's own or I could try and pull it out myself. I'm scared to pull it out for fear that I'll do something to hurt myself. Anyone ever have these? Did you pull them out yourself or go back to the oral surgeon?
