6 Week Old Pitbull Puppy Whats Best For Her Help

Questions about my 6 week old pitbull puppy?

It sounds as though both you and your puppy are doing pretty well so far.

He's a tiny baby, so yes, he really does need to sleep A LOT. What you describe sounds pretty normal, puppies pretty much eat, sleep, play, sleep, pee and poop, sleep and so on! In fact puppies do most of their growing when they're asleep so it's a very important part of their day.

As far as housebreaking him goes, the quickest and easiest way is to use the crate to train him, and supervise him very closely when he's not crated. You're absolutely right that he pees outside the bedroom because he doesn't consider it his 'den', therefore in his little puppy mind it's okay. You'll need to pick him up and carry him outside as soon as you take him out of the crate as he mustn't learn to associate inside your home with his elimination. Only outside. This url has tons of free information, tips and advice on crate training a puppy. It will explain it all to you. http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/crate...

Although he's too young for formal training classes, you can begin to teach him basic manners and commands. He'll learn quickly. To teach him his name, carry tasty treats in your pocket, and every now and then (when you're close to him) say his name in a cheerful, happy voice. When he looks at you, make eye contact and say "Good Fido" (or whatever his name is) and give him a treat. Young puppies have very short attention spans, so make training sessions short but very frequent.

Best of luck with your little guy!

How often should I feed my 6 week old pitbull puppy?

Not to sound harsh, but if you are going to own one, you need to spell the breeds name correctly, Pit Bull is two words. Next I must ask what are you doing with a six week old puppy. In most states it is illegal to give, sell or adopt out a puppy before 8 weeks of age! Your puppy is losing out valuable socializing lessons that only the Dam can give to her puppies.

The most important thing you must have knowledge of the breed and the breeds history to be a successful and responsible owner of an American Pit Bull terrier. So I would start doing you research and fast.

Socializing and training along with daily exercise is imperative for a Pit Bull to make it in this world! Feed your puppy 3 times a day. And feed him/her a high quality puppy food nothing you can buy in a grocery store. Rule of thumb, if you can buy it in a grocery store it is all crap. Buy it from a pet store that does not sell puppies, Pet smart, Petco, (you get the idea)! When he is finished eating wait about 10 minutes and take him/her outside to do his business. Also, vaccinations are very important. And for a Pit Bull , Parvo vaccinations can save his/her life make no mistake about it, so be sure to complete the entire puppy series! Pit Bulls are prone to Parvovirus, which is fatal!

Good luck and congratulations! *;*

I just got a six week old pitbull puppy, he is the runt i need advice on how to take care of him and nutrition

Often when a puppy is a runt, human intervention is the best thing for them.
There are two items I have not seen mentioned yet. When I am trying to get a puppies strength up I will boil chicken and rice together and mix it with soaked dog food. The chicken and rice is really easy on a puppies stomach because it is so easy to digest. Don't add any salt or seasoning.
I would also pick up a tube of Nurical, you can get it at the vets. It looks like a tube of tooth paste. Most dogs love the taste of it. Measure about an inch on the end of your finger and give it to your baby once a day. You will also want to pick up a good wormer (don't get the store brand) get it from the vet. Strongid or Panaur are both good wormers. ALL puppies have worms, it is passed from the mom in the milk . They will drain a puppy of a lot of nourishment.
You will need to feed the baby several small meals instead of 2 or 3 bigger meals. I would recommend leaving food and water down at all times so he can eat and drink whenever he needs to. You will just have to watch and be sure he is eating and drinking.
It will be a long and slow process, but if you make sure he eats and drinks, gets wormed, and stays warm and dry, he will be fine.
Good luck with your new baby.

What are some tips to train 6-week-old Pit Bull puppies?

Be proactive, SUPERVISION is key. If your dog is not being supervised it should be crated or put in an open pen that is contained. With puppy pads incase the puppy must use the bathroom. If your puppy has an accident in the house never EVER rub his nose in it or punish him for it. Puppies dont know what they did 10 minutes ago. Plus at that age they cannot hold it for more than 2 hours. Unless you catch the pup in the act they cannot be scolded for it. If you catch the puppy make a loud sound like a gasp or clap your hands. Clip on a leash and take the puppy immediately outside.Teach your puppy basic commands such as sit and down as early as possible and work with them 5 minutes at a time. Anything more can be mentally taxing on the pup. Use small soft treats that have a distinct smell. Do not give a treat every single time, make it random. There are a lot of factors but the biggest one is consistency. Training has to be consistent to be effective.

How do I house-train my 5 week old Pit Bull puppy?

Oh lord give me strength. A five week old PITBULL puppy? You don’t know how to raise a puppy, but you have a PITBULL? I wonder why people don’t just get themselves pet lions and be done with it. Housetraining any puppy is very easy, it’s all about being consistent. Taking them out every hour. A puppy that young will take a while to learn. They have to be taken out every hour, after playing, after eating, drinking , walking around the garden, sleeping. Everythign makes them pee and poo.Ultimately, it sounds like you are unfamiliar with dogs! Much less pitbulls!Pitbulls need someone who is familiar with the breed, to raise them. A five week old is likely to have a lot of behaviour problems as he/she is not with their mother? Why isn’t your puppy with his/her mother? What happened to the mother?Nobody can write a 60 page book here on Quora to explain exactly how to raise a puppy. You need to either give that puppy to a PitBull Rescue centre, or, find a pit bullbreeder and ask for help and guidance. Ask if they would let your puppy be with a female and maternal pit bull for a few weeks, or any other female breeding dogs they have. You would need to consult a decent behaviourist with experience with pit bulls, or failing that, watch ALL episodes of Cesar Millan, read all his books, read about all the mistakes that pitbull owners make, read about why pitbulls end up in shelters or hated, why pitbulls are banned in some countries etc.An untrained and unbalanced pitbull can become a danger to the public. ALL dogs can, but this particular breed is currently viewed in quite a negative light by many legislators. If that dog ever harms anyone, you can expect a lot of grief, and the poor dog will pay the highest price. Please I beg you, find a decent home for that puppy with experienced pitbull owners, someone who has pitbulls and whose dogs are in complete control. Or ask a breeder for help. Get a behaviourist. Puppies should be with their mothers for as long as possible. People who get these dogs and mess them up just make it worse for the breed, and make it hell for all the well-behaved pitbulls who are judged on sight as menacing and vicious dogs. They have the capacity to be extremely aggressive, territorial, possessive and dangerous because human owners keep ruining them!!

6 week old pitbull bites! Best way to train him?

You shouldn't even have him until eight weeks! He's missing out on important lessons that he would learn from his mom and litter mates.

In answer to your question, i found that when my dog nipped too hard during play a small yip from me (like a litter mate would do when in pain) and ending the game discouraged rough play. When he is older if he jumps or nips then turn around and walk away. Only use the spray bottle or other type of correction if ending the game OR ignoring him doesn't work!

He needs to be up to date on ALL vaccines before you can take him anywhere. That means at about three months old or thereabouts. And by anywhere i mean out of the home. Your yard is okay, but no walks or anywhere he could come into contact with other dogs.

Food for 5 week old Pitbull ?

Eukanuba is a good food but you must read the labels.

Natural Balance is a good food. No fillers, soy, wheat any of that junk.
It comes in very small bites.

Pro Pac high performance puppy is not a bad food either. And the bite size would be perfect for a 5 week old Pit Bull pup.

I am currently raising a litter of pups and they are on the Pro Pac bite size is perfect, they just turned 6 wks of age.

(Some people here needs to find a breeder they can have as a mentor before they go saying pups don't get weaned till 8 wks. They are incorrect.)

Pups start eatting mush at 3 wks of age. The pups I have have been fully weaned since last week 5 wks. You might want to still moisten the food, let it soak in hot water.
The pups here are now eatting all solid it is no longer softened and water only. No more milk from Momma. They still hang out with her but no longer try to nurse. And Momma is doing her job by not letting them.

Having a pup this young you really need to socialize alot. Find people you know with young dogs or pups.
The pup should be with the litter to learn bite inhibition and social skills.
Good luck to you and enjoy the new pup.
