911 My Child Is Almost Here Middle Name Help

How did you decide your child’s name?

I have 4 children and all of them were named in some part after something quirky.Ethan Raphael Ethan got his first name partially because I had never met or seen an unattractive Ethan in my life and thought that would be a good sign for him later in life.  His middle name however was more meaningful as it was a combined with a couple of things.  Originally my son was going to have a different name but he simply didn't fit it when I saw him.  While I was at the hospital I was reading a book: "Unlocking the Seven Genuises of Leonardo DaVinci."  In it it talked about DaVinci's interactions with this other punk artist of the Renassaince era: Raphael. But that's not entirely how it happened.  When he was getting his first bath he scrunched up his face like a turtle.  Immediately I thought of the Ninja Turtle and he became my own little turtle namesake since then.  (Surprisingly he has not gotten sick of the Ninja Turtle toys and things he gets from time to time... yet)Maddox Connor- Maddox got his name for geeky reasons... I grew up reading the blog made by a guy with the acronym Maddox.  It was terribly irreverent and hilarious and not something that I had heard any kid named yet.The Best Page In The Universe.Connor came because I was pregnant during the Lacy Peterson trial and that was the baby's name.  Yes I admit that one is a weird one even for me but hey I just admitted to naming a kid after a Ninja Turtle and a web troll so...Sakura Faye-Sakura after the flowers which bloom at the time she was born and because I remembered seeing the name on my Gelly Roll pens (the most coveted pens ever when I was growing up) and always loved it.Faye is a reference to the Cowboy Bebop character Faye Valentine.and lastly my latest son...Jonas Caspian-His middle name (previously debated to be his first name) was originally supposed to be Hunter after Hunter S Thompson but, as much as I love his written work, I didn't want to name my kid after a drunk.  Instead his middle name ended up becoming about as a reference to The Chronicles of Narnia's Prince Caspian character. So his first name?  It's a Weezer reference of course.  I joked about having it be in his birthing announcement but it never ended up happening.  Nonetheless I thought him having a song he could use in intros would be kind of cool... that and Rivers Cumomo is also extremely attractive.  (Note: his middle name almost was Rivers as well but I didn't want to overdo it with the Weezer references)

What does it mean when a voice wakes you up in the middle of the night?

This has happened to me several times. Awake and asleep. The strangest is my children calling mom. In my head I hear one say mom and I instantly know something is wrong. First time was when my now eighteen year old daughter was three and spending the night at her dads. She woke in the middle of the night and got locked out of the apartment. I was ten miles away and sound asleep when I heard her cries of mommy in my head. I tried calling and got no answer so I drive over as fast as I could to find her sitting on the steps with some strange man. I pounded on her father's door and got no answer so I took her home. This has happened often with a voice I dont know saying my name. Kinda creeps me out.

Why do some parents avoid giving their children popular names?

As a parent myself, I wanted to go against the popular names, mostly because as any other parent I believe that my child is the best and is destined for great things, so why not make the name be the same - unique and powerful?I did not have enough financial resources to hire a naming consultant to come up with the exotic equivalent of Blue Ivy (Red Sequioa?), so I went with the next best thing. When a child is born, one religion (Hinduism) allows for a creation of a mandala - a life chart based on the location, date, time of birth. Based on that, a priest gives the first letter of the name to parents, and then parents are left to their own devices to pick a name..A word of caution - at that time (immediately after birth), both parents are pretty much exhausted and some (females) are overloaded with hormones, so I had to be reeeeallly careful. There were a number of other constraints on the name - it had to be easy enough to pronounce, and easy enough to spell, and meaningful enough to correspond to that mandala, just to name a few..All in all, it was pretty much a mission impossible.God was kind to me at that time, and there was just one name that stood out - in fact, it was the only name I could stomach - so it worked out beautifully (not sure if it was just a coincidence or an event that meant to fit powerfully with other events, divine intervention comes to mind for some reason) :) (It ended up being a rather unique name, much to my delight, but if it weren't a unique name, at least it would have been the one that fits my child.. I was named, for instance, based on the historic event which happened when I was born, without any particular stress on what would actually benefit me or reflect my personality.. Thanks, mom!)

Why is Marie such a popular middle name?

I am not pregnant yet, but my boyfriend and I are planning to be engaged soon. Just for fun we try to think up names for girls and boys that we like. He always thinks of pretty girls names and then ruins his creativity by sticking a "Marie" or "Ann" as a middle name. I don't like names that are too freaky, but I like to extend my creativity into the middle name as well, and have never understood why Marie and Ann seem to be peoples middle name of choice. No offense to those who like it or have it as a name.

Girl and boy names with two first names?

nothing too common, but something unique. We named our daughter Ashlyn and her middle name is Madison. I think we want to do names with two first names for a girl, and something that can be used with initials for a boy. But any suggestions will help.

I posted this earlier and think it confused some people and I'll get a better response in the pregnancy section, Please help?

A name for my new son...?

I have a little boy on the way (I'm due in about a month) and I need to pick a name! There are just a few things that have to fit...

1. My husband and I like kind of different names
2. The middle name must start with a G (My husbands middle name is Gregory and mine is Greta so we decided to make it a theme)
3. It must sound good with our first sons name, Fuller Grant (Fuller is my maiden name)

We really like the middle names Grayson, Grey, and Guy. Here are some possiblities for first names...

Tatum (calling him Tate for short)
Fraiser (My mothers maiden name)
Colby
Duke
Asa

Any suggestions would be good! And more first name possibilities... THANKS!

Who is the Cutest Kid from "The Little Rascals"?

Spanky! Aww he is so adorable! I think that Froggy (not listed) is cute too! I also like how Buckwheat says "What's the number for 911?" That was hilarious!

What do you think of the name Ace Bannon?

Well I have my two sons sitting here with me for feedback on this one. My oldest sons name is Dodge and that's a different name in and of itself. He is 12 and his response is that Ace Bannon is a cool name. My 10 year old son says he's not that sure about it. I say go with your gut and wait until you actually see your son to see if he looks like an Ace. But truthfully when i say it out loud it sounds like ace bandage. Sorry

What constitutes name-napping?

We're considering the name Isaac Benjamin for our baby but my sister (who we see maybe once a month or so) has a son named Alexander Isaac. Would it be stealing to name our son Isaac or is it okay because it's just her son's middle name? And what are your thoughts/experiences on "name-napping"? Thank you! :)

BQ: Do you like the name Isaac Benjamin?

My son tells me his classmates call him names like "slut", "hoe", and "thot." He is very distressed by this and often comes home crying. I've never experienced bullying, what can I do?

I dont know how you think you can help him unless you take/remove him from that school? I'm not being rude just honest. I never was bullied I grew up in the 80's. The thing is that your child doesn't get any/no relief, no breaks from it! You see with computers, Internet that is. It's 24/7 it's torture. Kids don't let up. With the Internet he has no peace from it, it encompasses him. I had to home school my daughter. She got so depressed I had to take action before my dsughter became a statistic. You don't need to get details, nor hate kids bullying, don't waste time battling parents, don't waste time informing school of bullying because they Don't CARE!! They will protect the bully I found which made me so outraged because they say"they are anti-bully!" No they are NOT they just find it easier to pretend they are. Save your kid because all the stuff I had? The obligations? The job? The money? I thought that for a minute until I realized it's Nothing in comparison to my kids life. PERIOD!
