95 Nissan Sentra Issues

I got a code P0505 for a 2001 Nissan sentra. Is this a serios problem or a cheap fix?

Have you had the "Idle Air Learning Procedure" preformed? P0505 is a circuit malfunction code that means the idle control may not be functioning the way the Engine Control Module wants. Even a power steering air valve malfunction can cause the idle not to be with in range of what the computer wants. Some times it takes a Nissan Technician who knows 2001 Sentra to correctly diagnosis a idle condition. Good Luck

1997 Nissan Sentra---Belt issues?

My Sentra with the 1.6 is having problems..At 95K it went to my regular mechanic to replace a leaky main and the original drive belts.. At 99K I got stuck with a bad alternator and was forced to use RandS on the road. Now 1K later I heard a slapping noise and found out my power steering belt was shredding...I brought it back to the place that put the alternator in and they said they didn't touch the power steering belt that it was probably over tight to begin with---then said my chirping AC compressor may be the problem...that it may have caused the belt to shred---since that belt is fine and not connected I wonder how. My trusted mechanic insits that the compressor is fine and something seemed to be misaligned from the alternator repair.....He will figure it out----but says Rand S should own up to their problem...Can anyone comment ? Thanks

My 1997 Nissan Sentra will not start, what could be the problem?

I have a very well maintained 1997 Nissan Sentra with close to 200,000 miles. New battery, alternator and runs perfectly. It cranks up but does not start. I had the AAA service technican come out and he spent about 45 minutes trouble shooting. Checked all fuses, etc. and since it cranked up well he said it sounded like it just wasn't getting fuel, and could be fuel tank or a spark plug problem. I had it towed to a garage and after 10 minutes they said I needed a new motor, or rebuilt for about $2500.00++. No other explaination. I asked questions but being a woman and by myself I feel they could have told me anything. The car has been running perfectly. No hesitations, no nothing!!! The only thing I had noticed in the past 6 months was a slight whistling noise when it shifts into gears. Can anyone give me a clue what I should do?

I have a 1995 nissan sentra driver side window works but the rest won't go up or down check fuses all good?

do the windows work on their own switches ok and not the master switch on drivers door?

if so then its just the master switch on the drivers door.

Also the system has a relay for the power windows, but if that was bad none of the windows would work.

you could also has an electrical issue or harness issue, maybe a rat ate through the wires, if any recent stereo equip was added or removed maybe something got shorted...no telling without knowing more details of condition of the car.

good luck

What could be wrong with a Nissan Altima that cranks but wont start?

The fuel pump fuse is blown or the fuel pump has failed. The crank position sensor has failed. Turn the key to "Run"Listen for the fuel pump to run for a few seconds then stop.If you don't hear the pump run:1) Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position and remove. Check the fuse in the engine bay fuse panel. This is a panel encased in a plastic box and usually has "FUSES" printed on the cover. Inside are high draw, high amperage fuses and relays for things like the fuel pump. Find the pump fuse, pull it and look to see if it's good. If it's blown, replace it with same amp rating fuse. Check again to see if you hear the pump run. If it does, you're lucky. Press on. Car should start. If the pump still doesn't run then see 2 below.2) If the fuse is good, then it's a good chance the pump has failed. You will have to tow the vehicle to the shop; it's dead in the water. If you hear the pump run and the car cranks but will not start, chances are it is the Crank Position Sensor (CPS). The CPS feeds info to the engine management computer telling it the crankshaft is rotating and to allow fuel flow and ignition to occur. If the computer doesn't get the CPS input, the car will not start. Again, dead in the water and a tow to the shop.Just had this experience on my '98 GMC pickup ...good pump, engine spins, no start. A flat bed ride to the local shop and ...ta-da! ...OBDII code reads CPS malfunction. Four hundred and some odd bucks later, she's up and running like a top.

1993 Nissan hardbody 2.4L manual crank no start issue beyond the normal issues...?

After the key has been off for about 15 minutes, cycle the key to the "on" position (not "start") you should hear the fuel pump inside the fuel tank make a slight humming noise for about 2 seconds and then stop. Do this several times to prime the injector loop before trying to start it again. If you have EVER run out of gasoline, the fuel pump is probably damaged and will or has failed completely. A good halfway measure to get you by for a day or two is to mix 2 ounces of clean motor oil in the fuel tank to lube the pump. Add more gasoline on top of the oil to mix it in (5 gallons minimum, fill if possible). A failing pump will briefly come back to life with the oil added to the fuel. Replace as soon as possible. I have added oil to my refills for many years and never had a fuel pump fail. My Hardbady had the fuel pump feedwire jury rigged to the rear relay on the passenger side. It came loose and needed reconnecting.
P.S. Check camshaft timing. If you didn't replace guides and tensioner with the chain it can easily jump a link or two.

2005 Nissan Sentra Head Gasket Blown and Radiator needs to be replaced..How much it would cost?

I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8L engine with 60000 miles. The head gasket is blown and the radiator needs to be replaced. The local Nissan dealer is quoting $2200 to fix it with a warning that there may be additional charges if there is a warped head or cracked block. How much more they are talking?

I have spoken to Nissan Consumer Affairs. I am waiting for their call. Do you think they can help in reducing the cost of the repair since the car is less than 3 years old? I doubt it since the factory warranty has expired. If anyone knows anything about Nissan Consumer Affairs, please let me know.

Thanks.
