Where are the people that will be born in 2019 now

Can people born on December 1999 apply for the UPSC 2019?

Hi,

As per UPSC guidelines a candidate must be at-least 21 years of age and for UPSC 2019, you will be 19 years old. So, NO, you cannot attempt UPSC Civil Services Examination anytime until 2021.

But then you have enough time to prepare for the examination with the best of your efforts. You could follow UPSC Toppers and prepare yourself at the comfort of your home or rather take professional help provided by coaching institutes for Civil Services Exams (Nilanshi Gupta's answer to Is it really necessary to take coaching for the UPSC?). You have enough time to try all the options and make the right choice!

Must Read: Strategy and books for early birds to crack the IAS exam

At this tender age and dedication towards the very prestigious Civil Services, i can assure that you only need to channelize your efforts in the right direction, utilize this precious time in effective preparation and you will easily crack UPSC CSE in your maiden attempt.

Wish you all the very best for UPSC 2021!

Good Luck!

Where are the people that will be born in 2019 now?

Edit: I answered this as if you said 2018. The latter part is just as good for 2019.

2/5th of them are in the womb. The rest are in the pipeline or non-existent.

The proteins in a cow or a pig may be transformed into human sperm in the next few weeks that may fertilize a new life in 2018 (or 2019.)

If someone is born on 29 February what will that person's age be now?

Their age would be calculated the same way anyone else's age would be calculated, i.e. current year minus birth year.

But after reading the substitute dates for non-leap years, I got interested in working out what would be better, February 28 or March 1.

If you were born at the start of February 29, 2016 (i.e. 12 a.m.), you'd be a year older almost 365.25 days from now, i.e. 6 a.m. on March 1, 2017. You'd be two years old at 12 p.m. on March 1, 2018, and three at 6 p.m. on March 1, 2019. In 2020, the extra day added, i.e. February 29th, would correctly make you four at 12 a.m. on February 29 again. Using this logic:

If you were born any time between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. on February 29, 2016, the next few birthdays would be:

6 a.m. - 12 p.m. March 1, 2017
12 p.m. - 6 p.m. March 1, 2018
6 p.m. - 12 a.m. March 1, 2019
12 a.m.  - 6 a.m. February 29, 2020, and so on.

If you were born any time between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. on February 29, 2016, the next few birthdays would be:

12 p.m. - 6 p.m. March 1, 2017
6 p.m. - 12 a.m. March 1, 2018
12 a.m. - 6 a.m. March 2, 2019(!)
6 a.m. - 12 p.m. February 29, 2020, and so on.

If you were born any time between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on February 29, 2016, the next few birthdays would be:

6 p.m. - 12 a.m. March 1, 2017
12 a.m. - 6 a.m. March 2, 2018(!)
6 a.m. - 12 p.m. March 2, 2019(!)
12 p.m. - 6 p.m February 29, 2020, and so on.

If you were born any time between 6 p.m. on February 29 and 12 a.m. of March 1, 2016, the next few birthdays would be:

12 a.m - 6 a.m., March 2, 2017(!)
6 a.m. - 12 p.m. March 2, 2018(!)
12 p.m. - 6 p.m. March 2, 2019(!)
6 p.m - 12 a.m. February 29, 2020, and so on.

So depending on when you were born on February 29, you could celebrate your birthday on other years on March 1 (or even March 2!), but never February 28.

This same 365.25 actual days vs 365 calendar days calculation yields similar results for other days of the year (if you care to try), but only February 29 goes across 2 days instead of one.

For example, I was born at 11 p.m. on April 23, 1988 (a leap year). My birthdays would actually cycle as April 23, April 24, April 24, April 24, and repeat. Hope the half hour I spent writing this wasn't a total waste :)

What happened to the Diversity Visa Lottery 2019? Why is its website not opening?

This question seems to be out-dated and previously answered without any context. The person who asked this question will also be able to open the website now or at the time it was previously answered. Now you people will think why am I answering this question even when it is out-dated?

I am answering this question just because some people might still have the same problem and they should know the exact answer.

It’s not only about the Diversity Visa Lottery website but in general you might face this issue with any of the website. You should keep something in mind before opening a website.

Any website which you will try access needs some internet to create a link between your device and the data-center. Sometimes your internet connection might not be stable and you will face the problem while opening any website.
Very rarely but possible sometimes server get overloads and gain much more traffic than usual, which exceeds the bandwith and user faces the problem while opening any website. In this case users should wait for a while and try to open the website later.
Most of the time, user’s firewall settings don’t allow user to access some of the websites. In this case user should check their firewall settings.
User should try to remove cache stored in their browsers if they face problem while opening a website. This might be also one of the reason while not opening of any website.

At the time when my answer is read, website of US DV Lottery Program will work fine, but if you are the one trying to apply for the program then you might need the services of VisaFoto for making the actual photo which is required by the US DV Lottery. They are very professional.

What do people think about the 2019 election? Is there any chance for Congress, or do people now know the real face of Congress and their tactics?

There's no point in guessing…

There is opinion poll dates 25th Jan 2017, which has answers to your questions.

Narendra Modi best suited to be India’s next prime minister if elections held now: Survey[1]

Several controversies may have dogged the first two years of the present NDA government, but Narendra Modiwould still be the favourite to be the country’s prime minister if elections were held now, a survey said.

The ‘Mood of the Nation’ poll conducted by India Today in collaboration with Karvy Insights showed PM Modi having a support of 50 per cent among the respondents. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi lagged far behind with 13 percent vote, followed by Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal. The survey indicates that anti-incumbency sentiments against the government so far are not big enough to overpower PM Modi’s efforts to come back to power.

At the same time, the survey said the NDA will get 304 seats in the Lok Sabha in elections held now compared to 336 seats the coalition got in 2014. The seat count has certainly dropped, but leaders of the NDA can rejoice that people want them to come back to power.

There's a year left for next elections & as of today’s opinion poll.

People of India will choose Modi as their PM again.

There's no challenge for Modi..

As for Congress, there always will be Gandhi lovers who will support Congress & name Gandhi. No matter what…

I am 17 years old. Am I a "millennial"?

I'd personally put you as Gen Z. Based on this article, looks like some academics would put you as Millennial, but considering that you're not even out of high school yet, I don't think that makes much sense. Millennials are that group who were growing up when the year 2000 came around. Generally, they are the last generation to remember life without daily access to computers and internet in the West. Web 2.0 was a major moment in their usage of the internet, even if they don't know what Web 2.0 actually is. I also think that being born post 9/11 is a big deal in terms of which generation you best fit with. You have never known the world before the War on Terror and the disastrous US foreign policy in the Middle East, but many Millennials do.

Someone born after 2001 probably won't have their first lasting memories until 2003-2005. This is when websites like MySpace and YouTube were already invented and had millions of users. You probably have never known a world without Social Media as a crucial part of  your life. Most importantly, I think the crucial characteristic of Millennials is that they entered the workforce around the time of the Great Recession and have seen their careers suffer somewhat for it. Gen Z'ers might still expect to make more money than their parents, but Millennials are faced with the real chance that they won't be able to live better than their parents for reasons out of their control. You, luckily, were too young and  hopefully will enter the workforce at a boom time!

For all these reasons I'd say you probably fit better with Gen Z than Millennials. Please don't take any of these reasons as negatives; I'm merely laying out where I think you fall. Also, consider yourself lucky. The media already loves Gen Z for one big, reason: You're not Millennials.
