A Few Questions About European Football

What do Europeans think of American Football, like the NFL?

Most of them have a very poor opinion of it. They don't watch it, and it's only shown on a few channels as a time filler late at night or early in the morning.

The general opinion is that (American) football is an idiots version of rugby. They laugh at all of the padding that players wear, especially the helmets (It's almost unheard of for a European to wear a helmet in any sport other than a motor sport). It's the same with cups/jock straps. Most European sports don't use them. The are a sign of weakness. If you can't take a kick to the groin (or dodge a blow to the groin) then you shouldn't be on the field, and if you have to kick an opponent in the groin to get the ball, then you shouldn't be on the field, either.

They also laugh at all of the time outs. In most European sports the game only stops when the referee orders it due to injury or a foul. You cant stop and set up a formation, you must do it all on the fly.

Overall, Europeans tend to think that football players are all brawn and no brains because tackling is the main way of stopping an opponent, and that it's a game for cavemen. The tend to think that it takes more intelligence and more skill to do the fancy footwork in games like soccer, or to evade in games like rugby.

Of course, they see more football in the movies than anywhere else, so they tend to form their opinions based on high school jocks on TV than on actual football games. Most can't name more than 2 players or teams, and I doubt that most of them know when the superbowl is, or who won it last.

If Europeans call soccer football....what do they call football?

crap! boring! daft American game that no other nation plays (apart form Canada and they don't know dipshit) that takes 4 days to complete a game .
oh yeehaa!!! i bet your the world champions at it
err? rugby? nothing like it they don't wear crash helmets and padding and they don't throw the ball forwards

How can a football manager in the USA work for a European football team?

I’m hoping you mean Association Football, I.E. the style formed in England, Western Europe etc.In this case, as long as the manager from the states (say for example, the MLS), qualifies as “good enough” - a term which is very, very subjective in all sports, then they can apply for a vacant position, or a position that is going to become vacant on a certain date. In some cases the manager could be headhunted by a team if they’re exceptional, replacing the current manager of the European team.

What is the difference between the American football and European football?

Have you thought about looking this up on Google? Or is that too much trouble? To save you some time, I cut and pasted your original question into Google and got the following that should fully answer your question.https://www.google.com/search?so...

Which European football club will develop the most in the next 5 years?

I'd say Spurs.Imagine the Premer League as being in layers. Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal (and, to a lesser extent Liverpool) sit in the upper strata. Then you've got a layer of teams in the middle, such as Everton, Leicester, West Ham and maybe Newcastle. Then you've got a layer of perennial strugglers and newly promoted sides.Breaking into that top layer took Man City a lot of money and quite a few years. Spurs are transitioning into that layer now. If they can hold on to the likes of Alli and Kane, keep Pochettino, get established in their new Stadium, then they will genuinely be able to start challenging for titles and European trophies.

What is the average retirement age for a Pro European Football player?

35-37, I would say for a Pro European Football players. 37-38, for a Pro "Soccer" player in the U.S.

What is American football called in Europe and other countries?

Dumb Question, but:
Ok, in America we have soccer and football and all other sports. Most countires call our soccer: football. But then what do they call our football? Do they call our football: soccer? Do they call them both football?
?????

When will India have football clubs that can compete with European football clubs?

India will take time. perhaps after 40-50 years when two generations of players have had the opportunity of good football training. The sport will develop and we will be able to compete when we will evolve to handle greater training standards and put in substantial effort. Even Cricket in India took its time to grow and be the sport it is in India. We will need the support of the public and the concerned authorities in making the sport a serious career option in the country. Regarding what others have written about Cricket, 1. ESPN star Sports will not invest money where the risk is very high like Indian football and in the current state, Indian football practically does not have anything substantial to offer to ESPN Star. ESPN Star is not a not-for-profit company and they are not expected to do things that benefit anyone other than the stakeholders. This will take some time but then we can watch matches on DD Sports if we want to. At least the ones that are being telecast.2. India's talent should not be underestimated without substantial evidence. We are currently unable to tap the talent just like we are finding it difficult to mine coal.3. Cricket will never die but then in most countries more than one sport runs successfully. The examples are countless and will all be driving the nail on an already established fact.
