A Few Weight Loss Questions

Weight loss question.?

One pound per week, honey! Most people that lose weight, lose it too fast. Those that do, usually brag very quickly and do not only gain it all back, but they bring their friends!

I have been telling people this for years. Almost all issues of weight loss are relative to the individual, but the best rule of thumb is to use 500 calories more than you take in. (If you lose 500 calories per day, you will lose a pound per week. 500x7=3500 calories or 1 pound.) You can do this in a combination of ways: 1) Eat less calories; 2) Exercise more (expend more calories); 3) Do both!...One pound a week would get you your 40 pounds easily in 9 months!

Just a couple of simple principles to remember. If your total lifestyle doesn't change, you will only find temporary results. Probably the most important principle is that of motivation! One of the biggest motivaters actually becomes one of the biggest "wet blankets"... When you first start on a routine/diet, you usually lose weight a bit faster in the first week or so....but ...if you've added weight training to the regimen, you may actually gain weight! (You must remember that weight and fat are not the same thing!!) Two things can be the blame: 1) Exercise can "pump" typically unused mucsle with water and glycogen; 2) You may have actually built up mucsle mass. This one really discourages a lot of females, but you must remember, most are really wanting to lose size...not weight! As muscle weighs significantly more than fat, it is possible to gain weight and go down a size in dress!!! So it is typical to lose quickly in the first couple of weeks and then slow down to a more normal weight loss rate...don't let this deter you!! Motivation is the biggest wall to weight loss, so get a personal trainer, accountabillity partner, an exercise you love, a dog to walk, or something that will keep you at it....

And just an extra tip for good measure.... most people don't drink enough water to lose weight properly. Water is NEEDED to oxidize fat. No water=No fat loss!!! The AVERAGE person should drink 1/2 gallon of water a day!!!...that is the "8-8fluid ounces that you learned about in elementary school. (I used to use this as a gag/secret when I was a personal trainer. I have had women lose as much as 10 pounds in one month without even changing anything but their water intake.)

So i weigh 246 pounds right now. Few questions about weight loss?

The fastest way to lose weight is to quit using a car. Walk or ride a bike everywhere you need to go. Last year, I did that for a month and a half while overseas and lost 30 pounds of fat while not watching what I was eating whatsoever. The key to weight loss is physical activity, and walking/biking everywhere will greatly increase your level of physical activity. You don't even have to bust your *** doing it. It sucks for the first week or two, but it becomes easy after that.

Cut out all soft drinks and beer. That is another thing you can do to affect rapid positive change in your body.

Every night before you go to bed, do as many pushups as you can.

Start eating green vegetables. Asparagus is a good one to start out with. Lima beans as well. Buy leaner cuts of meat, and decrease your portion sizes. Drink a pint of water about 5 minutes before each meal.

Eat a few apples each day, skin included. They really are fantastic for you.

Make as many of these changes as you can permanent.

Good luck!

Sick with strep throat... weight loss question.?

If you go back to eating normally you will regain the weight. As much as we would like to think otherwise, there really is no magic answer to weight loss. There is no well kept secret, and no mystery solution, but there are simple things you can do that will help tremendously. Eat a healthy diet of about 1500 calories a day - you do need to learn to count calories and there are tons of sites that will help you with that, as well as the labels on foods. Start keeping a record everyday of what you eat, because we all usually tend to consume more calories than we think we do. Eliminate ALL junk food, sodas, pop, sweets, fried foods, fast foods, fruit juices, and processed foods. Everyday eat fruit, veggies, a few nuts, lean meat and fish, whole grain breads and cereals, low fat dairy products. The many meal replacement products on the market can be a good tool to help you get started on a better eating plan. Use them in the first week or two if you like to replace one meal a day. Make sure you get one that has a good protein content. Special K makes a protein shake and the Glucerna shakes have higher protein content. Go for a brisk 45 minute walk twice a day if you can, everyday. Climb lots of stairs. Drink plenty of water. If at all possible start a weight lifting/strength training program at a gym and get some instruction from the gym trainer. It will work. Here are a few sites that may help.

Weight loss side effect of adderall question (please help)?

Yes, you will definitely lose the weight. That won't be the problem.
However, I understand that you want to go beyond your past weight loss, and achieve a greater number.
Here are some tips ( heads up- some of these suggestions are not healthy ):
1)Smoking causes adderall to work 3 times as fast! When it begins to fade away, and you need an extra kick. Smoking one cigarette on adderall will destroy your appetite.
2) dark chocolate. Surprisingly , eating small emounts of dark chocolate suppresses your need to eat. It. Actually gives you a sense of "fullness". So, 3 or 4 pieces if chocolate a day will help. Keeps your stomach in, and it is good for you.
3) at night, take a multi B vitamin, high dosage of magnesium and potassium. Don't forget about garlic supplements, and vitamin c! What this will do is rejuvenate your body for the next day. It will keep your tolerance level really down, and the side affects of adderall will stay intact.
4) exercise every day, even if adderall wears you down a bit but you're still manage to get around on it. Go and exercise at least 30 minutes, eventually your body will build up some of its natural energy even with adderall!
5) drink water, and AVOID anything that has citric acid in it. I usually only drink that before bed, because it will help me sleep. Avoid bread as much as possible. Eat foods that prolong the effect of adderall. Such As high fat food; meats, nuts, vegetables, etc. fruit is usually a big no no. Don't forget to have 100mg of caffeine a day as well!

If you get plenty of rest, and manage to still get your nutrients. You can lose weight extremely quickly on this drug. Some People are not aware of what little changes you can make to slim down rather fast on it.

Anyways, I hope I helped!

What can cause unintentional weight loss?

If you have lost more than 5 pounds in the last month, you really need to see a doctor. Every time I see my doctor they take my weight and ask questions about any change of weight.

A serious illness, like cancer can cause unintentional weight loss. So you really need to check it out.

Weight loss after tonsillectomy?

honestly you should barely loose anything. maybe just 1-2 pounds and that gets put right back on after you eat your first "normal" meal.
the recovery process is more like 10 days not 2 weeks.
you SHOULD be able to eat normally on day 10 after you see your dr for a check up and he/she clears you to eat like normal again.
i literally only lost 1 pound and then i had a mcdonalds cheeseburger, fries, and coke and i gained 2 pounds lol.
plus during the recovery its extremely important that you are constantly drinking something so you stay well hydrated and your throat heals better so with lots of fluids in your system you shouldn't be loosing much if any weight.
and things to eat are not healthy things so with all the calories you'll be taking in you also shouldn't be loosing much if any weight at all.

you are not supposed to have any dairy. i know so many people say "you can eat all the ice cream you want" but thats not true. back in the day drs used to recommend ice cream cuz its soft and cold but they do not recommend it any more cuz dairy creates a lot of mucous which will cause a lot of congestion and you'll have to cough hard to try to get in out and coughing will highly irritate your throat. plus the congestion causes you to loose your voice.
(i did not have any dairy during my recovery and i could talk just fine and i was not congested at all)

things to drink are:
-tons of cold water
-apple juice
-passion fruit juice
-peach juice
-gatoraid
for the first 3 days the only things you are supposed to "eat" are things like jello, popsicles, and soup broth. (thats why you need to have a wide variety of drinks so you don't get extremely bored with your diet)
after the first 3 days you can start eating things like:
-mashed potatoes
-mac n cheese
-soup
-oatmeal
-apple sauce
-peas
-baked beans. (my ENT was in shock when i said i loved eating baked beans during my recovery but that was cuz he usually deals with little kids like under 10yrs old and knows many kids don't like them lol)
