Should I break up with my girlfriend because she cuts herself?
I just found out my girlfriend cute herself. That's way to much for me to deal with so should I just ignore it and hope I never hear about it again or should I just break up with her?

Last night as a joke I was like to my girlfriend over text “I’ve been feeling depressed lately so i go in the bathroom and cut myself” It was a joke!!! She took me seriously and went crazy. Literally 2 minutes after I said it she took a scissor and cut herself three times to see how it feels for me. She was bleeding a lot. And then another 10 minutes later. SHe broke up with me because she thinks I’m crazy because she thinks I cut myself. Please help me. Idk what to do. It was a joke that she took way too far! who the hell does that. How do I make her realize that I was just joking. Its not like she doesn’t know me, we’ve been going out for over a year!!!!!

My girlfriend is 15. She rarely ever brings this up, but I've heard her say she cuts herself, and she has scars. She's mentioned suicide a few times. She even tried to starve herself. She's not even fat, she just wants to die. I tried to talk to her about it that day. She never ate until one of our friends started screaming at her. When she finally started eating again she told me she could never kill herself because she'd miss me too much, but it still worries me. She's said before that she wants to die at 23. From what she's said she has trouble at home. Her parents favor her sister more, and her mom gets mad because she cross dresses, and even steals money from her and gives it to her sister. I would have told her parents by now, but I don't know them, and they don't know that we're dating. My parents don't know we're dating either, and would just accuse her for being an idiot like they do with everyone else. Advice?

Talk to her, tell her that your really care for her, and that you want her to know you will always be there for her, make sure she knows, that a scar will just remind her of her past, and harmig won't solve anything, tell her she can always talk to you, and it can stay between you and her. Make her promise to you, she wiill never self harm again, and hug/kiss her :) TAke her out, like properly out! A day trip! According to what she likes :) YOu could go to the beach and have a picnic and go in the water, and for dinner go to a resteraunt! Or a themepark and eat there, you could even take her on holiday! She sits next to me at the same table as me in our science class. she was wearing long sleeves. in fact, she always wears long sleeves whenever i see her. anyway, she pulled up her sleeves one day and i saw these bloody slashes all over her wrists. some other girl, i guess one of her friends, also saw them and asked what happened. all she said was that she cut herself on a table. i really don't believe that. there was slash after slash; no table can do that kind of damage. all this happened on tuesday (today's friday) is there anything i can do? i mean, i'm not exactly friends with her, but we're not enemies . . . we talk. what can i do? i sit next to her everyday now, and she acts completely normal, but i know shes not ok. i feel kind of guilty about not doing anything. how can i help?

Go to her house if you can, and take away objects she could possibly harm herself with. If she lives with her family- then don’t do that, and definitely do not tell her family, because they may not help very much, and she’ll get angry at you for digging into her business.Tell her how much you love her every day, note on little things she does that you notice (how she has such a variety of emotions, how she brushes her hair with her fingers when she’s nervous, etc).Do tons of things with her (no, not sex. I don’t feel like somebody who cuts is willing to show their body. Wait a while if you want to mingle), reading, studying, or going on dates. Text her a bunch.These are only tips, but please never leave someone after finding out they cut (even if it’s not for the reason they’re cutting), because that will make them feel as if they’re too dificult to love or be loved.

Look at her wrists in real life, no pictures. If they're cut, tell her parents, or ask your parents to tell her parents. Break off all contact with her. DO NOT let this disturbed girl drag you into her drama. As others have said, you aren't responsible for what she does and after telling her parents you've done everything a responsible teenager should be expected to do. You aren't equipped to provide the professional help this girl may require and you aren't equipped to deal with the drama. About breaking up in general... you don't break up because you hear some crap. You first talk to the other person and determine if the crap is real. Then you make your decision. There are a lot of nasty jealous people who will try to ruin friendships by telling lies. Don't fall for it without proof. And I mean demanding proof that it's true from the person telling it, not demanding the friend to prove it isn't.
