A Good Surname For A Family

Good Last Name for a Doctor family?

I'm trying to come up with a plot surrounding a family where the father is a doctor. I want to get their last names set right away and then work from there.

Dr. --- ----, works as a cardiothoracic surgeon, is 42 years old, married but cheating on his wife.
Mrs. --- ----, works as veterinarian, is 40 years old, doesn't know her husband is cheating - but feels that something has come between them (will eventually cheat on her husband too).

They have two kids, son, age 18. Daughter, age 20.

What I need a good last name to describe a family of upper class wealth and scandal.
First name suggestions are welcome!

What is a good surname for Siobhan?

I assuming you are writing a book and have chosen the first name for your heroine but are stuck on a surname. You have chosen a typical Irish christian name - so it is likely she was born into an Irish Catholic family. So a trite surname would be Kelly. Here are 22 names that represent the best of Ireland: Larmour, Earls, Ringrose, Aki, Stockdale; Sexton, Murray; Healy, Best, Furlong, Henderson, Ryan, O'Mahony, Van der Flier, Stander. Scannell, Kilcoyne Ryan, Dillane, Conan, Cooney, Carty, ConwayOK maybe not Aki who is a Maori qualified by residency. But assuming he settles down and marries a colleen who knows what the children wold be called. Is she married - if she is it could be anything. OK it is unlikely to be Goldberg as that would mean her husband was a Jew who had married out - but it could be if that is part of the story. I actually know one such family - but he is an aethiest Jew and she is a lapsed Catholic and there daughter does not have a stereotypical Irish name.Everything depends on what story you want to tell.

What's a good surname to go with Ace?

By surname I mean last name. I posted a question like this and they had no idea what surname meant. Yeah, I know. Please don't tell me names don't matter because they are actually a symbol in my novel. He lives in a town where everyone is the same and has the same name and look the same. He looks different and no one else has the name Ace. Even though he looks different, no one notices him because he tries to hide away from people. That is until a girl named Roma comes to town and she looks different and no one has the name Roma. So since he's grown up in a disturbing family he's weird and disturbed and starts to stalk Roma but doesn't drug her or anything, just wants her to love him. So give me a unique name to go with Ace please. He's blonde, very tall, tan from working, very dark blue eyes, and his family is rich, so I need a wealthy sounding name that is still unique, and make it hot, too. Something that the girls would love. He's suppose to be ideal, but his family has demented him. Don't be a tool about it and say Bieber please :)

Thanks in advance!

What is a good surname for the name Lucius(Luca)?

I'm writing a story and my main character's name is Lucius. It's written in third person and I will be using Lucius whenever I refer to his character and majoriry of the characters will call him Lucius. I'll also have a few of the characters, such as his close family members, call him Luca for short. Now I need a last name for him that sounds good and preferably one that isn't too boring.

I have a list of some last names that I could use. I don't have a lot so far and none of them have really clicked for me yet. Tell me if you like any of these or give some other options. I need opinions!

-Wolfe
-Lockhart
-Rivera
-Rosetta
-King
-Sterling
-Nix/Nyx

Whats a good surname in Korean?

The great majority of Korean names are written as three syllables. The first syllable is the family name. The most common Korean family names are: 김 (Kim or Gim), 이 (Lee or Rhee) and 박 (Pak or Park) - these three names are shared by about 50% of the population of Korea but 정 (Jeong or Jung), 최 (Choi - pronounced "Chay"), 조 (Jo or Cho), 강 (Kang or Gang), 유 (Yoo), 윤 (Yoon), 장 (Jang), 신 (Shin), 임 (Lim or Yim), and 한 (Hahn) are also fairly common.

I have never come across the name 천사 (Cheon-Sa) before. But if you plan on using it anyway, then you ought to pair it with the surname 김 (Kim) or the surname 유 (Yoo.) When Anglicising Korean names, there is no one correct form - Korean names can be translated in a few different ways, but generally, the first letters of the two components in the name are capitalised. So your characters name would be written as 김천사 (Kim Cheon-Sa) or 유천사 (Yoo Cheon-Sa.)

Your character is a Korean whose family emigrated to the west. Usually, Koreans that move to English speaking countries change their names around. The family name begins to come last in the fashion that we use in the west. 김천사 (Kim Cheon-Sa) or 유천사 (Yoo Cheon-Sa) would become Cheon-Sa Kim or Cheon-Sa Yoo.

In most Korean families, the children share a common root in their name. For instance, if a Korean couple have a son and a daughter, the son may be called 진섭 (Jin-Seop) and the daughter may be called 진영 (Jin-Yeong) - both retain the root 진 (Jin.)

So if you want to call your character 김천사 (Kim Cheon-Sa) or 유천사 (Yoo Cheon-Sa) it's likely that if she had a brother or a sister, the sibling's name would incorporate either 천 (Cheon) or 사 (Sa)

I'm naming a character. What’s a good surname for a girl named Theresa? Her brother’s name is Charles. They live in the Pacific Northwest, and they’re engineers.

My wife is an expert on this. She suggests that the main culture likely to have the given names Charles and Theresa (which are Germanic and Greek in origin) in the PNW would be French Canadian, so something like Tremblay would work.Another possibility is that the family is Chinese, as first-gen immigrants might go with Western names from different roots, in which case she suggests Zhao.
