A Letter From Social Security Office Says I Don

Social security, office rep?

You were just unfortunate enough to have gotten yourself an interview with a rude employee. I worked at social security for 32 years and only one of the offices I worked in had a couple of rude employees.

I must say, though, that it sounds to me as though you were trying to control the interview and wouldn't let her do her job - you should have saved your questions for the end. It's not easy to be patient and polite with the public who constantly interrupt you while you are trying to do whatever it is they came into the office for you to do.

While she may have been rude it won't have an impact on how your action is processed.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I don't understand why you had to visit the office if you are already receiving SSDI. Most things are more efficiently taken care of over the phone or through the mail; they no longer have the staff to handle walk-ins who take up more of their time.

The social security website at ssa.gov is secure or it wouldn't be there. I suggest that you make use of it whenever you can. That's what it is there for. And another primary reason for it is so that people can take care of business without having to contact a social security employee - because social security offices just don't have the staffing needed anymore to take care of everything for everyone when they can so easily do it themselves.

How do I get a letter of ineligibility from the Social Security Administration in Maryland?

Go to your nearest social security office. They open at 9am. Take your birth certificate with you and ID; you need documentation to prove that you don't qualify for a number. You must be an illegal alien because legal aliens can be assigned numbers.

If someone says that they are calling form the social security office and say that I get awarded some money?

First they were asking for my account number and they said they weren't going to ask me for my routing number and then a few words later they ask me for my routing number???
It's a SCAM right they gave me numbers and stuff but I bet you it's a scam??

What will be my Social Security pension? In the last letter I received from them, they say I may not get any. Will I get at least something? I'm 1963.

You have to have worked 10 years and paid in to be eligible - or have been married for 10 years to someone who is eligible. Your letter should have listed the income you had in the years you worked. Be sure they didn’t miss any - if you are still working you should end up OK as long as the total is at least 10 full years. However the benefit is paid based on the average of your highest 35 years so if you did not work that long your benefit may be lower.

Should a change of address be notified to the Social Security office?

Sure, but a lot of people don't understand rome wasent built in a day, a lot of people don't have enough time to run out immediately to social security just to change address, like if you're moving to another state to try living with a boyfriend to see if he really loves you enough to live there, well you have to spend weeks with him just to make sure because you don't know if you'll really end up moving completely, my mom still gets my mail back home so its cool, but what happens for the people who are on ssi and move to another state for love and then after you changed adress 2 months later your boyfriend tells you to get lost, excatly you are forced to go back home on something that was really meant for vacation because you didn't know your boyfriend was going to waste your time and energy like that, so you need time before you make it official to the social security office, by the way when I was in california I had to go up to the social security office 4 times just to change my address because they would lie to my face and say they updated my address and never really did, wasting my time, so to that other person yes it is painful to go through social security, its a fucking nightmare and they are rude and don't care and don't do their jobs and then blame the victim

Does Social Security call you on Saturdays if you receive SSI?

I receive SSI. I hate it and rather work, however, on Saturday, I had a woman who said she was from the Social Security Office call me and ask me about my income resources. Huh? And how I was paying rent monthly. Then she said she was my Case Manager. Case Manager?? When did Social Security regulate a person a Case Manager? Everyone I've ever had contact with at SSO or the Federal number have been different. I've read through all the guidelines and regulations pertaining to their Office getting in touch with a person. I read, "Usually by letter or by stopping by". Showing proof of course that they are who they say they are when they come to your resident. Not trusting her, I did not give out any information and she got angry and said, "Since you will not cooperate with me, your money will be deducted"!! O.O Today, I received a letter from Social Security stating that my SSI will be reduced! Plus, I don't trust the letter. Please, help me if they cut my SSI, I will be homeless. And if this is on the up and up about calling out of the blue..., I thank you for letting me know. Thank you for your responses in advance. :)

Social Security Letter of Intent to withdraw benefits?

When they take your benefits away you have more than 24 months in which you can get reinstated should you become unable to work again. STOP WORRYING. This is a form letter. I received a similar letter. Answer the questions on the form social security has sent you to update them of your circumstances or go down to to your local SS office. There is a three month grace period within which you may still collect social security benefits anyway. Do not panic. You have no reason too. I went though this experience also. They ARE NOT going to take your benefits away. Calm down. Please feel free to email me. SS form letters are very frightening to recieve. You simply need to give them updated information to keep your benefits.

Why would Social Security send me a claim denial letter for SSD when I did not apply in the first place?

There are two possibilities. The first is obviously fraud. Someone applied for benefits using your number and work history. In this case go in person to your local social security office with the original letter, at least two forms of ID and a picture ID. Ask to speak to a supervisor regarding suspected fraud. That gets the SSA's attention right away. They will open an investigation and notify you of the result. If you are not satisfied with the answer you receive, contact your Congressperson for your congressional district. Bureaucrats fear Congressional inquiries even more than the Donald does! The other possible cause is that you applied for SSI (Supplimental Security Income) and they automatically applied for SSDI as well.

Selective service won't take my social security number?

I'm working on my FAFSA, and I realized I have to register for selective service....(nobody told me before..), so I went to sss.gov to fill out the form online, and when i click submit, it says my social security number is not on file?!
I came into the country with a green card in 2004, and that's also when I got my social security. So my number is not "new" at all. I have recently become a US citizen via Naturalization though, and submitted a name change.(Old first name is now my middle name) But I don't see how that should prevent my social security number from being in the database? What could be the problem here?

So now I think I have to mail the thing...which is going to take very long. I want to meet the FAFSA's early deadline at March 2nd...but by the government bureaucracy's efficiency, i can only hope I will get the confirmation in a month...

so has anyone else encountered this problem before? I also never received a letter or card saying I have to register as well....nor any reminders...

I got a letter from the IRS saying that someone used my social security number (SSN) to obtain employment. What should I do?

IRS and Social Security are covers many fraudsters use to milk people for money or personal information.Take the letter to the Social Security office in your area. Ask them for guidance in person. I live in a reasonably small city (100K people) and we have a Social Security office, so I presume there is one in most areas. If you do not have a local SS office, make a copy of the letter and send that to the IRS, asking for confirmation that it is legitimate. In the meantime, file a police report and lock down your credit. If you have a police report, it is free. If not, you may have to pay a fee to lock and another to unlock your credit.Don’t ignore this — it could be an early warning of identity theft. If not, it could be a new form of fraud the IRS should be aware of. Hmm, you might google the language in the letter. I googled threatening language in robocalls from “the IRS” and learned that it was a known fraud scheme. I happily ignored them after I’d learned that.
