A List Of Every Device That Can Connect To The Internet

How can I limit internet speed of certain devices connected to my wifi?

Actually this depends on the type of router you are using. Most of the routers have bandwidth control function but, they will allow to control the speed of all connected devices at once. Login to your router >> Check for Bandwidth Control Option >> Enable and set bandwidth. Assigning different bandwidth to different devices is not possible directly. So, there is an hack to do so.Set DHCP server to Off. (Now you need to assign IP's manually to each and every device.)Now configure rule as above. Make 2-3 rules ! Ex:  for Ip range 0.100 - 0.105 speed will be 1Mbps and from 0.106 to 0.110 speed will be 2Mbps etc.Now assign ip to device according to your need. If you want to give 1mbps speed to that device, add the IP of that range and if 2Mbps then IP of range 106 to 110.

How do I find the external ip of other devices connected to same network?

How can I find out how many devices are connected to my wifi?

Step 1:- open 192.168.1.1 in your browser192.168.1.1 is a Admin router login IP address which is a wireless router setup and configuration wizard. It is a common IP address that many routers use it as their default gateway.First, usually the username and password are marked on the back of your router, you need to look for them carefully, they are always marked on a label along with router’s serial number and login address. When these routers are manufactured and shipped, their default username and password are usually like this: username (case sensitive): admin, password: admin. You will see a login page alike this, it depends on manufacturer of the router.Step 2: - Enter Username & Password.Step 3:- Once you enter the login credentials you will see this home page for configuration of the router.Step 4:- Click on the Status Info -> Wireless Info.Step 5:- Click on show active clients and it will open a tab containing a table of active clients connected to your Wi-Fi Network. Here you go , The MAC address of the active clients will be shown like the above picture.Cheers !!

Why won't my tablet connect to the internet (wifi) every time I turn the tablet on?

Not sure if this is your issue or not, but many other Android users have reported this as a problem:
Some Android devices can't connect to a Wi-fi router if the SSID (Service Set IDentification) is hidden. The SSID is the network name. See here for one of many discussions of this issue (search [android can't see ssid] to find other discussions):

http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon...

Not all devices have this problem, but the fix is worth trying to see if it works for you. I know you said you're not a techie, so this may need someone's help, but I'll try to describe it. If your SSID is hidden you'll need to go to the router setup/configuration page/s. With all the info you provided (which is very good) you didn't mention the make/model of the router, so you'll need to find the way into the setup. The address is often on a label under or behind the router, something like [http://192.168.0.1] or 192.168.1.1. You open a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc) and put the address in the address line and hit Enter. You will then be presented a login page with Username/Password, which again you can find in your manual or online for your make/model, but it's often something like [admin/admin], or [(blank}/admin], or [admin/password]. Once you're in find the check-box that says "Broadcast SSID and be sure it's checked so that your network name can be seen by your devices. Hiding the SSID is sometimes considered a security measure, but it's a really weak one and not worth doing if your devices can't connect as a result. For good security use WPA or WPA2 (NOT WEP - that's old and weak). Write back with additional details if you need more info - hope this helps!

Isn't the Internet of things vulnerable as it's connected to the Internet and hackers can easily hack the devices?

Yeah it is!If you know about IOT devices, you can also hear about Shodan website. It generates a list of all the IOT devices connected to the internet. You can find IP and protocols supported by that device on shodan. You have your target and now you just have to exploit it.Shodan works 24/7 to create and gather the list of every IOT device connected to internet. It generates a random IP address and then check whether it's valid or not. Then further it send some requests and capture it's digital fingerprints, OS , protocol supported amd open ports and some other miscellaneous things. You can even find nuclear power plants , ships , UPS , and anything connected to internet ( must be some IOT device). It also tells you the supported server running the service and it is more a gold mine for every hacker. The most precious thing about shodan is that it provides you it's API so that you can automate your script and many hackers use it to target routers ( as you may heard about hackers attacking MicroTek routers some days ago). And there is much more out there. You should give it a try. It's worthy!

Help, devices in my home cannot connect to wifi?

On a laptop, the wireless icon on the taskbar can be clicked to display the entire list of wireless access points in your area. Click on the wireless application that you set up on the Time Warner box. It will show you the status of the connection. Click on :"connect" to try to launch your browser.
Basically.. a router, hub or MODEM has a setup program where the wireless is tailored to your needs. You type in the IP ADDRESS that is on a sticker on the unit. Type it in the very upper address search bar in your browser. This is not the on line searcg bar but the smalleone on the very top. Type it and it alone. Hit enter.
You will see the setup program. You will use the default name and password also found on the labels on the unit. Now, look at the wireless setup. You can see the security key there. If need be, change the setup to be a secured network and key in a security key and save.. Just curious, how do you disconnect and reconnect wifi?
Whatever you are doing seems to be a part of the problem. I can see a display of all wifi in my area from my phone or my tablet or my laptop. Are you not using that method to select a connection? You may de deactivating or deleting instead of disconnecting. If you take one of the devices in question to a public place that has wifi, you have to select it from a list. If your connection is gone from the list-say with a laptop- you would set up a new connection in he network and sharing center. The same is true for other devices that I use. You should simply set up a new connection on any one that has a problem. . Delete or disregard the old non-working connection.
