A Needle Poked My Knee But It Hurts Really Bad

Which hurts worse, a dental needle, a vaccine, or a blood test needle?

I am supposed to be getting a physical later on in the year for my nursing papers. I am deathly afraid of needles. Although when I go to the dentist, they usually give me an anesthetic injection into my gums. That hurts a little but I am perfectly fine with it. Does the dental needle hurt more or less compared to the vaccine needle and blood test needle? I can never seem to calm down in any way or get distracted in any way during needles. Last time I got a blood test was at least 6 years ago and last time I got a vaccine was 5 years ago. I can never "suck it up and take it" because that isn't going to work. So please no comments telling me to just bare with it.

Every time I smoke weed, my knees hurt. Why?

Brain neuron transmitters and receptors that are normally constantly receiving and sending that pain signal from the knee are basically worn out. Endocabinoids that are provided by smoking cannabis or ingesting it replaces those endocabinoids between the two nerons the signal strength improves that was always there but very diminished. So all of a sudden, you're feeling pain and actually it was always there but wasn't getting through mentally receptor to transmitter connection. Cabinoids are the transmission medium sort of like if you had wet hands and held an electric cable vs having dry hands. The electricity has a much easier ability to go through you because of the water It's interesting to note that the brain consists of 70 percent water which would kind of conversely show that ,,,you know ,,,drivers get into accidents after driving over 3 hours without drinking water they get dehydrated the brain falls asleep and we have the cause of the accident.

Neck and shoulder pain, feels like needle poking?

You may have diagnosed your own problem: a 'bony-spur' of arthritis (a common bus-driver problem) may be the "needle" pain you describe.

Proper sitting posture is essential to your job. Sit well back in your seat so you don't have to reach for the wheel; knees should be level or slightly above thigh-level.

Years of driving bus may have caused your problem. Report your trouble to get it 'logged'. It may be work-related & that will cover your treatment. Ask to see company doc; you may need a second (outside) opinion from an Orthopedic MD & x-rays.

My IV site hurts from 7 days ago. is this normal?

It could be many things:
1. That at the IV site a blood vessel broke. (Is it black/blue around it?)
2. They could have kept trying to find a vein. (Sometimes it's hard to find one, and they actually have to poke around with the needle in your hand they move the needle around to find a vein)
3. That is a painful site.
In any case 7 days seems a bit long. Esp since you say the pain shoots up your arm and that the sensation you felt when you woke up was dull, sweetie you should call your doctor.

How bad does a tendon repair surgery hurt?

Have you ever had your blood drawn? It is pretty much the same thing. To start an IV it is a poke with a needle, but the needle has a thin little 'straw' over the top that they slide into your vein. Then, any medications they have to give you can go into the IV so you do not have to get poked with another needle.

I have had many surgeries and I have had nerve blocks done several times. How much it will hurt will depend on what they have to do to fix it and what kind of medication they have you take afterward. As your nerve starts to 'wake up' after surgery it may be a little painful, or it may just feel strange. Have you ever slept on your arm or sat on your leg until it fell asleep? After the nerve block wears off it feels like that- pins and needles for a little while. Your finger will probably have some throbbing. The medicine they give you for the surgery will make you relaxed, sleepy and comfortable. After they give it to you, you probably won't remember anything until you wake up back in the recovery room. Don't be too nervous- it really isn't that bad. I would say pain of maybe a 5 at worst, but I had major reconstructive surgery on both of my knees. Good luck!

If I puncture a bruise with a needle or cut it open will the blood drain and pain subside?

I don't believe I would do that because you could cause yourself more problems. A bruise is buildup created by normal bodily functions. You don't say what happened or when, but if it's been more that 24 hours, why don't you try soaking your foot and toes in hot water adding Epsom Salt in, read directions on the bag. Your body will eventually absorb the blood, the heat of the water and the Epsom Salt will speed that along. Take a Motrin for swelling and the pain about 600 Mg's will do. You should have iced that toe when it first became bruised. You could still try the ice and see if it helps, but I believe the heated water will do a better job. Puncturing the bruise is not the same as under a finger nail, because you don't hit the skin and the tightness of the nail against the toe makes it hurt. The blood builds up a pressure because it can't go anywhere, that's why your toe is swollen, it's building up under the skin and pushing it out. Best of luck to you sir.

Why does my arm hurt so bad after giving blood?

Since I am a phlebotomist and have been in the medical field for years, you can rest easy. You are in no danger.

Right now, your arm looks a little red. Do not be surprised if later on you begin to see a purplish patch. It is nothing to be overly concerned about.

Veins can be very tiny, so needles have be very tiny, also. Sometimes, when a needle goes into a vein, it can poke out the other side, leaking blood into your body cavity. Not much. Just enough to cause discomfort.

Your body is magnificently designed to take care of itself as long as you do your part, also. It heals itself.
