A Spammer Was The Only One To Answer My Question

Why is there a limit on the number of answers to questions you can submit per day on Quora? I have many more answer requests waiting.

Original question: “It’s 9:00 am and I’ve reached my limit. I’m still getting requests from people to answer their questions. It’s not fair to me or them.”Slow down. You’re apparently relatively new to Quora, so let’s step back for a moment and understand how the system works. Those answer requests you’re getting are not coming from real people specifically seeking your words of wisdom. They are, instead, being generated by the Quora system to try to get more questions answered in general. The fact is (and this is not intended as an attack, just an explanation), the 63 answers you have written so far are not particularly helpful to anyone—as evidenced by the fact that in total they have garnered only 38 upvotes, way less than a single upvote per answer. In contrast, the most useful answers here can generate hundreds, or even thousands, of upvotes per answer. Most of yours are simply one sentence, often generic, sometimes just saying “I don’t know.”That kind of response might be perfectly appropriate in a person-to-person conversation, but it isn’t useful here on Quora. Instead, understand that there is no expectation at all that you need to write in response to an answer request. Many people get dozens a day, and the etiquette here is that it is not only acceptable, but expected, that you will ignore those requests…unless you have something serious and useful to say in response. In the context of Quora, “serious and useful” typically translates into an answer that is multiple paragraphs long, shows thought and care in its composition, and has typically taken at least several minutes to write (many of the Top Writers on the site can spend an hour or more on a single answer.) The intention is for questions on Quora to elicit interesting, thoughtful information that is locked up in people’s brains; it is not to get quick, one-line, ‘cocktail party’ answers. My intention is not to sound harsh, or single you out, but rather to clarify for others who may be in your same position the way this site works. Welcome to Quora, and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to your future thoughtful contributions!

Why is my question never getting answered?

I've been asking the same question over and over again every day for over a month (a Japanese song translation), and no one has tried to answer it. I've had lots of foreign songs translated here before, so why is this any different? I know for a fact that it's not breaking any guidelines, so don't tell me that's the reason.

How to get spammers off of Yahoo Answers?

Recently I've noticed a rash of spammers on Yahoo Answers. They provide the same exact spam answers to any question asked even if its not related to the question. I've gone to these scumbag's personal page and have reported their identical spam answers. Yahoo has taken many of the answers down. But they keep posting the same spam answers over and over again. Besides reporting the spam answers over and over again, how can we get Yahoo to permanently remove these vermin? Shouldn't they remove them after several reports? Shouldn't Yahoo have a special report where you can report a pattern of spam and only spam instead of just reporting individual answers? Can't we report the actual spammers instead of just their spam?

What do you think of Quora users who spam the same question while changing just one word?

I understand that they are trying to make money with the Quora partner program, but I still find the practice annoying, especially when it runs to dozens of questions that are identical, except for one word, such as the name of a country. The questions themselves are often fairly ridiculous, too.A recent one was “Do they have cars in {Malawi, China, etc.}?”I have unfollowed several topics I would otherwise follow to end the spamming of my feed with such questions, and so far, it seems to be working.I wish they wouldn't engage in question spam like that, but as long as the practice is within Quora guidelines, it's really between that person and Quora.I've reported a bunch of such questions as being insincere, but am not sure how much good it has done.

What is the policy for using the same answer for multiple questions on Quora?

Reusing any material requires attribution even if it is your own writing. Proper attribution on Quora is block quoting and linking back to the original/canonical source. Answers that are not block quoted will likely be considered plagiarism. Answers before April 12, 2016 are exempted from this.Answers should always be tailored to the question and in practice, it's rare that the same answer to make sense for many questions. Writing similar answers to different questions is allowed. In practice it is only if you cut-and-paste substantial portions of the answers that you will run afoul of self-plagiarism.Repeatedly posting the same answer on Quora, with or without blockquotes, may be considered spam, see [1].Footnotes[1] How does Quora define spam?
