About 2005 Mazada Model 3

How can you tell what model mazda 3 you are looking at?

Im shopping for cars and have done my research. Im mainly looking at 06 mazda 3's. My problem is that i dont see where you can tell which model it is from looking at the car. it comes in i, i touring, s, s touring, and s grand touring. Is there a way to tell and im just not seeing it? can you tell if you look at the vin?

How to tell what model my mazda 3 is? (i-sport s-sport)?

The 3i has a 2.0 liter engine. The 3s has a 2.3 or 2.5 liter engine. The 3i gets much better gas mileage. Recent model hatchbacks were only available as 3s.

Is a Mazda 3 a good car and why?

The Mazda3 (no space = cooler) is a phenomenal car, almost regardless of your priorities as a driver.Let's skip how they look - you can develop your own opinion there.PerformanceNimble, planted, fun to drive. Excellent steering. You can get the rear wheels out if necessary, and it will only ever be your decision. My Mazda has the 2.5. It's sweet, smooth, and more than enough to get up to 120 or so without waiting too long. In literally every situation that is not a race from 60 mph to top speed, this car would dominate my old 280hp Lincoln Mark VIII.The automatic transmission is quite good. You can shift manually with flappy paddled or by moving the gearstick. Programming normally, while shifting manually, and while in Sport mode is excellent. The Sport Mode button is my car's clitoris.InteriorThe seats are faux leather, but it's nice faux leather. The contrast sticking looks gorgeous. The materials throughout are great - Mazda has fantastic attention to detail.Great sightlines, solid seat adjustability, back seat is road trip-friendly. The trunk is below average in size for this segment, or at least it seems like it.The switchgear feels GLORIOUS. Seriously. The infotainment control nob is in $100k Audi turf.TechBlind spot warning (audible and there's an icon on the side mirrors) is amazing and useful and I don't want to live without it.Backup camera is ditto. This car has a HUD. And Mazda was smart, because they made something quite low-tech that is insanely useful. You hardly notice it, except that you notice it not being there for the rest of your life in cars without one.The tach is front and center. All of the gauges are gorgeous and useful. The infotainment system is a bit too slow, but otherwise very intuitive and full-featured. You can get root access to it and remote into your car from a nearby Starbucks, as long as the engine's running. It's mostly JS and compiled C++ on there. You can change the background, enable Navigation system operation while the car is moving, open a dialog saying "Serious Shit" when the car hits 88 miles per hour, whatever. This is seriously cool. Durability:There was one month when I got 3 flats, but I live in Boston. Weirdly, that's the only time that ever happened. The paint is SERIOUSLY thin. Scratches will happen. The skin of the car isn't particularly thick, either.Nothing else has ever gone wrong.

Buying a 2005 Mazda 3?

That is very cheap. I have seen 2004-2005 models with well over 200,000 miles on them for $3000.

And I have seen 2004-2005 models with 100,000 miles on them or $5000+

They are very reliable cars. 2012 consumer reports magazine named the Mazda 3 as the most reliable car of 2012.
J.D. Power & Associates named Mazda the 4th most reliable car brand in 2009.

I owned a high mileage mazda for 8 years and I have had many friends who have owned Mazda's for a similar amount of time. They all love their cars and have nothing bad to say about them. They are very reliable cars.

Mazda 3 or Pontiac G6?

I strongly suggest the 3. We are a Mazda family, have had many Mazdas and zero problems what so ever. Our 2005 Mazda 3s currently has 78,537(I went out and checked it, just for you lol) and I cannot recall any problem except one bolt on the door that needed to be tightened. It was not a problem it would just creek when opening/closing the door. The 3 is small and quick. It is good for getting thru traffic and still has a reasonably sized trunk. If the trunk isn't big enough the seats happen to fold down(We have the hatch btw) and you can fit pretty large things in it if you really want to. The a/c is super cold and the heat is super hot. I am kind of a audiophile so my only gripe is the non bose radio didn't have that punch so I added a very small 150w sub that is bolted to the seat and is out of the way. We can fit 4 people comfortably, and for a little less comfort, as with any car, we can fit 5. The handling on the car is great and I find myself thinking I'm in some kind of supercar the way I drive sometimes. The Mazda 3 is a very fun, reliable, safe, small on the outside huge on the inside car and I strongly recommend it.

As for the g6 I cannot comment on that because I haven't ridden more than 100 miles in one. I, however, drive a 2004 Mazda 6s and it is in the same size range as the g6(Midsized). Out of all of the Mazda's we have owned the 6 is easily my favorite. It (the v6 engine) is pretty quick and if I want to I can get 400-410 miles on a tank. I drive the 6 pretty hard at times and I have 86,716(I went back out there just for you again lol) trouble free miles on it we had to get the rotors machined (free) at a Mazda dealership because they were warping. Of course that is caused by me so its not really a worry. The trunk on the 6 is huge! and the seats fold(we have this in hatch too) It is like the 3 but bigger. I didn't have to add a sub because the Bose sounds great in here. The handling on here is better than the 3, in my opinion, but I think I may think that partly because I drive the 6 more so I know its limits around corners and such better than the 3(if there are any). We have the sport model and it has a very sporty look to add to the sporty ride and speed. If you did look at a mazda 6 try after a 2005 maybe.

I can really go on forever about these cars. I really think you should look at a mazda6 if you need a larger car, but out of the two, I have to give it to the Mazda 3. Gotta love the zoom zoom lifestyle!

Does 2005 Mazda 3 have a 5th gear?

I just got a 2005 mazda 3, but it only shifts up to 4th gear. Does it have a 5th gear or is it overdrive? I just want to make sure it doesn't have a transmission problem. It shifts fine and the Rpms are normal, but it doesn't shift into 5th? My moms 2013 Mazda 3 has a fifth gear.. So im confused. Thanks for any help :)
