About How Much Do You Spend On Extras For Your Kids Per Month

How much money do you spend on your kids for Christmas?

I think some of it depends on how much you have to spend. Some years we have more than others. I usually get each a good gift, then throw a few extras in there. They are older now so they pretty much tell me what to get them. When they were younger we could really only afford 100-150 each and it was perfect for that age. I have 2 boys. Now, it's about 250 or so, and it's just right for them now too. If we had more, I'd spend a little more, but you don't want to always spend too much, or they won't appreciate what they have, and will expect it every year. As she gets older, mostly make what you get her more important than what you spend, and she'll appreciate things. Though at 3, she'll love just getting a ton of stuff, even if none of it is super expensive. ^^
We used to do it the best present was from santa, buit as they started getting older, the best ones were from us, because the whole "santa can afford it" for that one expensive present got to us. If the big one is coming from us, they know we saved and made sure they got what they really wanted. ;)
You asked about traditions, here is ours. Immediate family, like with my brother, mom, step-dad, etc get together at mom's on Christmas eve and exchange presents. Christmas morning the kids get the ones from us, and then later in the day we go out to my grandmothers, and then just appreciate the holiday. Food, family, card games, stories, etc. There used to be presents, but with everyone struggling, last year we decided no presents there, except buying for grandma (or their mom of course) Being there is more important than presents anyway.

How much money do you spend on food each month for yourself on average?

Did you know that the government actually produces a monthly report for suggested food costs for individuals or families? I sure didn’t. It’s really cool because they not only break it down for the size of the family and your age range, but they also have four plan types for each category. There’s a thrifty, low-cost, moderate, and liberal plan. For me, you can see that I should hover around $300/month for food as a 19–50 year old male. Obviously, it’s not a law - it’s a guideline. I know people who easily spend 5x more than the suggested amount. A lot of it depends on your disposable income, but it’s interesting to see the breakdown above. It’ll give you a general rule-of-thumb on what you should be striving towards. If you’re interested in seeing other stats or charts on suggested spending amounts, check out this article.

Personally, how much do you spend per month living in the Philippines?

after my kids are done in thier education . my husband and me spend 6,000 pesos per month .

How much spending money do you give your children when they go on school trips?

My children do this type of trip as well but although in theory everything is included it's not. They will stop at services on the way both here and France and if they want drinks or sweets or something then that will have to come out of their spending money. Even doing the activities if they want extra drinks or a snack they will have to buy them themselves and they are expensive in France. I would always provide way over what I thought was needed as you can never tell however I also trust my children to be responsible and they always tend to bring some back but normally £200 is what I would go for especially with the exchange rate as it is.

How Much Do You Spend On Your Child's Birthday Gifts?

usually about 100 but this year it is about $550 because we are getting him a wooden swing set from our tax return money for his 3rd birthday.

How much money do your parents give you weekly or what do you give your kids weekly?

In elementary school (5-12 years old), I got $2 per week and it was just pocket money.

In Jr. High school (13-14 years old), I got $50 per month and I was responsible for paying for certain expenses. I had to pay my own way when I went out with friends, buy my own clothing, and generally pay for any extras I wanted. My parents always paid for books, outings that we went on as a family and music lessons, but otherwise, we paid our own way with our allowance.

In High school (15-18 years old), I got $75 per month and I had to cover my own car insurance on top of my own entertainment, clothing, etc. My parents gave us $3/day for lunch when school was in session which wasn't enough to eat off campus without dipping into your own pocket.

I graduated from High school in 1995, so I'll have to adjust for "cost of living," but we'll do a similar thing with our daughter when she's old enough (right now she's 4). My parents' goal was to give us just enough money to learn how to manage it without being able to go nuts and it worked very well with my siblings and me.

Some of these answers make me wonder what people were/are spending their allowance on.
