What are some examples of socialism in the USA?
Despite what people want you to believe, the USA is more socialist than free market and is starting to border on communism. Here are significant ways in which the US is socialist as Marx outlined as his goals in The Communist Manifesto:The US has property taxes and uses eminent domain. Rights of private property owners are restricted by laws and regulations.The US has a heavy progressive income tax. Individuals are not allowed to keep their earnings. Much of it is confiscated before a person even receives it.Although getting better, the US has heavy inheritance taxes. Some regions are worse than others. There are also procedures, such as probate, that makes it cumbersome to pass an inheritance along to future generations.The US has the Federal Reserve, which is a form of national bank and a cornerstone of a socialist government.Most of the transportation infrastructure is owned or controlled by the state.The United States has veered from classical Marxist socialism into National Socialism with regards to production. Although factories and other “instruments of production” are owned by groups not directly state affiliated, they are heavily controlled and regulated by the state. Corporate structure is used to make large businesses an extension of the public.Civilian employment armies have been established, such as Peace Corps, Americorps and the tens of millions of government employees at all levels.With “Frankenfood,” the line between agriculture and industry has been blurred.
