Are "windows updates" even necessary?
I always leave my laptop in hibernate mode before I go to sleep so it doesn't hurt the battery or anything too much but at least one time a week, I wake up to my laptop only to open it and have the screen on at the login screen and the keyboard hot because of the screen being on. When I login I'm greeted with "windows has installed updates!" as if its a good thing. As far as I can tell, these updates (at least 10 of them so far) have done absolutely NOTHING to improve my computer or its performance in any way. What do they do, is there even a point to them?
I accidentally stepped on my external hard drive, it's not working now. Please help!?
GO TO BEST BUY ASAP their geek squad fix things but its usually expensive but if you really need to get the files i suggest you dont tamper with it anymore and take it in QUICK

What totally free software will fix all computer problems?
There's no such thing as you ask. If you have registry problems to the magnitude you suggest, then I recommend you just reinstall windows. Back up your files first.
