Accidentally Let My Dog Drink Water That Was Left Out All Night Help

My dog accidentally ate a chocolate cookie, but it was a little less than half. What might happen and what should I do?

Probably nothing, but you should still keep an eye on your dog and call your vet if the dog seems ill. That’s always best. Canine tolerance to chocolate can really vary. Now, let me tell you a tale of a dog named Freebie, AKA You Rat Bastard, You Just Ate Half a Bag of Butterfingers. I inherited Freebie from my dad, who loved dogs, but was mighty careless about their health. The two notable incidents I recall from my dad’s half-amused/half-annoyed recollections were the time Freebie ate an entire chocolate cake and the time he ate an enormous order of General Tso’s Chicken. Reportedly, he felt pretty bleah afterward, but he survived. He’s now 11 and has he learned his lesson? Hell, no. The Butterfinger incident was this winter. Outcome? No effect whatsoever. I have to put any chocolate I have into the cupboard because if I, say, put something out for lunch the next day, the cats will knock it off the counter and that damned dog will eat it all. He’s really good at finding stuff I didn’t even know I had in my book bag.Look at this guy. Just look at him. You’d never know he was a hardened chocolate thief.

I accidentally left a big pot of turkey meatballs and red sauce out overnight. Is it safe to eat?

First my credentials - I am a National Restaurant Association Serve Safe (R) certified instructor, and am a FSMA and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Quality Control consultant on an international level. Now let's analyze the risk: Not all foods are potentially hazardous. We leave butter, oil, fruit, vegetables, dry foods, canned foods, cooked bacon, etc at room temperature. There are milks that are shelf stable, hams that don't need to be refrigerated, all because either the pH/water activity isn't suitable for bacterial growth. So the fact of being at room temperature isn't sufficient to determine the risk.Turkey is poultry and is a pre-cooked item so is potentially hazardous due to salmonella (poultry) and Listeria (cooked Meats). Presuming the meatballs were heated last night to at least 165 degrees for at least 5 seconds at or above that temperature, the bacteria that would have existed on the meatballs or sauce would have been killed. That is IF it reached that temperature to the center of the meatball (salmonella is ON THE SURFACE of raw turkey, but becomes mixed to the core when ground). If you are unsure if it reached that temp, the risk is that there could be contamination, and, at between 43 degrees and 140 degrees F, bacteria grows (temperature danger zone). The longer it is in that zone, the greater the growth. If you killed 98% of the bacteria last night, and it sat out for 8 hours in the danger zone, then that 2% would definitely grow.If you bought the meatballs pre-cooked from the grocer, then it is a good presumption that they killed all bacteria in the plant before freezing. Unless anyone in your house handled the meatballs without washing hands, introducing cross-contamination, there is very little risk that the meatballs are unsafe to eat. But, unless they're so amazing and you can't bear the thought of tossing them, I'd dump them. But if you choose not to, the chances are very slim they'll make you sick.

Oh CRAP! Hot dogs left out overnight on accident cooked and eaten.?

I'm so far from a culinary major.

Um-I accidenally left frozen hotdogs wrapped in foil outside of the freezer for a day or two (room temp). I broiled one and ate half of it (too scared to finished) from my desperate hunger. It tasted great.

Did I just give myself E-coli?

Left hot dogs out over night but they were covered...?

I would have to say that you should throw the hot dogs out.

If I were in a pinch, I would put the dogs in a pressure cooker at 15lbs. pressure for 15 minutes to sterilize them. Poke them with a fork to avoid explosions.

If you don't have a pressure cooker, or you are hungry enough to debate whether to risk your health eating $3 worth of substandard, possibly-spoiled meat, please send me your contact information and I will reimburse you so you can go buy a fresh package of hot dogs. I've squandered money on much less worthy purchases :-)

Neighbors dog is left outside for hours in the blazing heat sometimes without water?

I don't know what to do about my neighbors dog. she is left out in the heat for hours and hours sometimes without water. she breaks into my yard often and i give her water and food sometimes, they of course get angry at us for doing that. this dog just recently had 8 puppies just 2 weeks ago and the puppies are left inside without their mom while they are are gone and she is outside. she is so swollen with milk and so hot she can barely breath. there is a heat warning in effect until friday and the news says to bring your pets inside. we want to report them and we did once to the humane society but they never even came by. i know if we do it again they will know it is us because we have told them before she is too hot and hungry and thirsty. we have to live next to them and the guy has a really bad temper. we are afraid he will hurt our dog. we will be moving from here in 2months and i am worried as to what will happen to this poor girl if we don't do something now at least we are hear to help but not for long.

Is it okay to leave my dog outside overnight?

When I travel for only one night and no one is available to come by I leave my dogs outside. It happens only once or maybe twice a year. I make sure they have plenty of food, water, and I have a garage that they can sleep in. I also give my neighbors a heads up and provide them with the phone number where I can be reached.

My dogs LOVE to be outside though. Love, love, love it. I also don't leave them out if it's too hot or too cold. The temps you're expecting should be perfect for a lab.

See if a friend can come by and just check on him for a few minutes, maybe throw a ball for him.

Also, make sure you fence is secure so that your dog can't get out and secure enough that it's difficult for someone/thing can't get in.

Some people freak out about things like this, but most dogs are made for being outside. They just prefer being in...they've trained us well.

I'm a terrible person...... i left my cat outside on the porch all alone for 8 hours without food or water....?

Wasn't he meowing to come back in? I did the same thing with one of mine once. She must have snuck out to my deck when I was putting out the recycling. Then I sat down and watched a two hour movie and with the sound up if she was meowing I didn't hear her. As soon as I turned the movie off I heard this "Meow!!!!" What's funny is when I went out there several of my plants had dirt pulled out of them. Not sure if she did this out of boredom or she was mad at me LOL

I'm sure your cat will be fine. But eight hours is a LONG time to not notice your cat missing!
