Acne Probs Though I Undergo An Acne Treatment It

Has anyone taken isotretinoin treatment for acne?

I was in class 7, when I started having severe acne. And all that my parents (and other elders) said is that it will go away on it's own after sometime. It was something very trivial to them and they didn't bother much. However, it was difficult for me because teenage is always difficult, obviously.I took special care of my face. I used a separate washed towel for face, never popped a pimple/acne, tried all those herbs like neem, turmeric, etc. It was all in vain.It stayed for almost 7 years, when finally I decided to consult a dermatologist. The first question the doctor asked me was "why didn't you come earlier?". So, he gave me isotretinion/accutane (Sotret) along with some creams and facewashes. The first month was a little painful, because it didn't show much improvement, rather, I saw increase in my pimples. But, I learnt that that's how it works. It forces the hidden pimples/acne out and then works on the sebum glands. The second month was moderate. On the third month, 80% pimples faded away. The fourth month, I had the skin of a model/actress. Maybe I am exaggerating, but compared to the skin I had, it was a miracle. The fifth, sixth and seventh month were quite similar. And (touchwood), it's been 10 years now since I took sotret, till date I didn't have any severe acne problem. Though, pimples may come and go due to stress, pollution, stomach disorders, etc. Now, the very important part of isotretinion is that "if you have other ways to cure your acne, do it, instead of isotretinion. This should be your LAST OPTION." Why? Because, prolonged use or improper use of Isotretinion can lead to many issues inside your body, like hormonal imbalance, fibroids/cysts, stress, cognitive problems, etc. Isotretinion stays in your blood for a long time, even after you stop taking the pills. It's dosage must be consulted by a good dermatologist and hence improvised by the doctor only. Most of the time, Acne/pimples are symptoms, which tell you there is something wrong inside your body. In most cases, it's either due to lack of hygiene or hormonal imbalance. Try to check on those first, if not, go for isotretinion under doctor's supervision. Also, there's a lotion/gel called clindamycin (I prefer Alkem's clindac A solution), it helps to dry/reduce pimples visibly.Isotretinion won't work on scars, for that you have to use scar fading gels/creams like mederma, or whatever is prescribed by the dermatologist. I hope this helps. All the best.

Home remedy to get rid of acne scar on chest?

• Hey There ! I'm a dermatology student and by following this, is best way to get rid of acne scars. Let me first say home remedies will not treat scaring, you need effective products and treatments which will heal the skin, and reproduce collagen. With all my patients I've seen some pretty horrible acne scarring completely healed. It's very easy and works fast. Try the following:

1) Mandelic acid based skincare treatments are BY FAR the best skincare products on the market for post acne scars. NuCelle (http://www.Nucelle.com) have the largest range, and have been clinically proven to be effective. Mandelic acid is the meant for acne scar sufferers and is the most gentle skincare product which minimizes inflammation and redness. For best results, use the serum, use the face wash, toner and moisturizer too. Also, protect your face from the sunlight and heat while you're treating your scarring, as it will quicken the healing/restoring process. For more info on mandelic acid, visit http://www.mandelicacid.net

2) Look into getting IPL (Intense Pulse Light) laser treatment. IPL is a laser treatment which works by eliminating the enlarged capillaries in your face which causes redness and scarring. It’s completely safe and healthy too !! (My 11 year old brother had it done go get rid of a scar from hockey). You can get it done at most spas or laser centers. If you have about 2-3 treatments and use mandelic acid products on your skin, your scarring and redness can pretty much go away for good !

Sudden back/chest acne?

Hello. I've dealt with acne on my face since 2006. I would occasionally get a pimple on my back or chest, but it was never a constant thing.

During Thanksgiving, my mom bought me a Bath & Body Works soap gel. I started using it, and suddenly I started getting acne on my neck. I stopped using it, and the neck acne disappeared but not before trailing down to my chest.

Throughout late December, my chest became covered, and not it's starting to cover my back too.

I don't know what to do! I shower everyday. I eat the same as I usually do. I thought not using that soap anymore would be enough, but apparently it isn't.

It's REALLY affecting my self-esteem so much so that it makes me cry from how self-conscious it makes me.

What should I do?
